What Oliver loves…
- Enjoy a restful slumber with air-conditioning in all bedrooms - bliss!
- The private pool is an absolute gem, with plenty of sun loungers and a parasol for some much-needed shade
- The close proximity to Casarano’s centre means guests can walk into town for a coffee or meal
- There’s plenty of space for everyone to relax, either poolside, with a good book or inside playing pool
Take a step back from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and relax into the Italian way of living at Villa Amedeo. Where the sun shines, the fresh air rustles in the tall trees, and the olive oil is fresh.
As guests arrive at their new home away from home, they enter a little slice of paradise. A modern home, that is bright, spacious and welcoming. The main living space has large double doors, opening to the outdoor space and overlooking the lush surroundings. Relax into the cosy couches with a good book, or simply all get together to talk about the day. There’s a secondary living area off the main lounge, where guests can settle in for film night, or have a meal around the dining table. There is also a games room, complete with a pool table and a spot to play cards or board games. It’s the perfect place for a family game night, or as somewhere to send the kids.
Meals can be prepared in the modern kitchen, which has everything you need to create a tantalising feast. Enjoy these inside or take your tasty morsels outside to the dining area that’s accessible from the kitchen.
Of course, exploring all day is exhausting so guests desire a peaceful and comfortable place to lay their heads - and there are plenty of rooms to pick from. The villa offers five bedrooms, all of which offer air-conditioning, perfect for the balmy summer days. The villa also has a guest bathroom with a tub, which is necessary for a soak after a long day and handy for those travelling with smaller children.
When a villa has such a special location, it’s no surprise the outdoor area is unforgettable. Spend your mornings with a coffee or tea accompanied by fresh pastries and look out over the lush surroundings. Days can, and should, be spent relaxing poolside, topping up your tan on one of the pool loungers and getting some much-needed shelter when the time calls for it under a parasol. The outdoor dining and living space is perfect for, well anytime. Local wine and a platter will go down quite nicely as you take an evening dip - after all, you are on holiday.
All of this sits just outside the town of Casarano. It’s just a 20-minute walk or 5-minute drive into the centre, where you will find cafes, bars, restaurants, and other necessities like a food market. The villa is centrally located, and within a short drive guests can take in the nearby towns and all they have to offer, Racale (10km) and Ugento (12km) are unique and interesting spots to explore. The coast is also near, Lido Pizzo (22km), Rivabella (23.2km) and Padula Bianca (25km) are all spectacular beaches to wander.

Nestled in Casarano, the sixth most populous town in the Lecce province, Villa Amedeo sits in a great location for exploring the area. The villa is just outside of the town and within a short 20-minute walk or 5-minute drive guests can be in the centre, picking up groceries, sending postcards, or enjoying an authentic Italian meal. This town is known for its olive oil, so be sure to pick some up for your platters and to take home. The town has a lot to offer, including one of the world’s oldest Christian sites - the Church of Santa Maria della Croce, it’s a stunning site.
There are plenty of small, quaint towns that are worth a visit. Head to Racale (10km) and marvel the towns untouched beauty, not yet a tourist hot-spot, this town has a charming allure, with plenty of cafes, restaurants, bakeries. Or perhaps you want to explore the architectural and artistic gem, Ugento (12km). Wander the town and appreciate the sites, including the Archaeological Museum of Ugento, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Ugento, and the Cripta del Crocifisso (church).
The coast is not far away, and within 30-minutes guests can appreciate the crystal-clear waters. There are countless stunning beaches in this area to enjoy: Lido Pizzo (22km), Rivabella (23.2km) and Padula Bianca (25km) are all magnificent, and a little quieter than some of the main beaches. Gallipoli (21km) has some of the most picturesque spots, with golden sand and glistening waters, so don’t miss these. While you are here, wander the coastal town’s historical sites, such as St. Agatha’s Cathedral, Church of St. Mary of Purity, and the Gallipoli Castle. This spot is known as one of Italy’s most interesting places to explore.
Another must-visit is Lecce (49km). This spot is the main city, so there’s plenty to see and do (and tonnes of tasty food to try). It is renowned for its Baroque buildings that you won’t want to miss, especially Basilica di Santa Croce, the Piazza del Duomo, and the Cathedral of the Assumption of Mary.

There’s a reason Puglia is the region of the moment, or rather several: the excellent food, exuberant architecture dotted in the South, the breathtaking coastline and heaps more. Puglia is much bigger than you might first expect, but you’ll get both a wonderful and varied Italian experience here.Use our travel guide as a nifty sidekick (think of us like the Robin to your Batman) to help you plan the holiday of a lifetime.
And don’t forget we’ve got a selection of villas in Puglia that will add that extra special touch to your trip.

The closest town, Casarano, is ideal for families with children’s museums, exciting historic sites to explore, and the San Lorenzo Astronomical Park.
Casarano is a land-locked town, but within 30-minutes the family can be at the coast, enjoying the crystal clear waters. Gallipoli (21km) boasts beautiful beaches, with magnificent waters and golden sand. Other great spots like Lido Pizzo (22km), Rivabella (23.2km) and Padula Bianca (25km) are also lovely beaches, and all offer a safe and fun place for children to swim and play, they’re also quieter in some of the busy months.
Lecce is also a great place for a day trip (49km), with so many historical spots to immerse the children in. There’s a lot of things to keep children entertained and educated, from the Basilica di Santa Croce and Museo Faggiano (an archaeological museum).
