Villa Sasseta occupies a truly idyllic situation, nestled deep within the Ligurian green hills behind the famous Cinque Terre, near the border of Tuscany, with stunning views across the lush and dramatic countryside. The villa offers a real escape from it all, with total privacy and seclusion on offer. It’s the perfect place to unwind and relax after days spent walking or cycling around the scenic immediate area.
The views from the extensive outside space are simply breathtaking, with nothing but trees and hills for miles. But it’s also easy to go out and enjoy an evening meal, with the closest restaurant being just a 10-minute drive away.
Villa Sasseta features a beautiful blend of traditional charm and contemporary style. An abundance of wood furnishings and features creates a sense of warmth, with modern facilities ensuring your complete comfort. Two independent buildings offer flexible accommodation.
The first home can accommodate up to six people across three double bedrooms. Three beautiful bathrooms are on offer also. The ground floor open-plan living/dining/kitchen space is great for socialising and unwinding after a long day exploring the area.
The second house accommodates up to 10 people across five double bedrooms including a sofa-bed. There are three bathrooms in total also, meaning no arguments over who gets to go in first in the mornings! Spend evenings chatting and watching television in the bright and airy living/dining/kitchen area as dinner cooks.
There’s plenty of space to relax and soak up the views and dine al fresco outside, with several seating and dining areas on offer. The most attractive is a shaded, pergola area with plenty of seating and a built-in barbecue. The rolling, lawned gardens are home to a large, private swimming pool with sun loungers and an outdoor shower.
Drive around 35km to coastal Levanto or a little further the Cinque Terre village of Monterosso al Mare to enjoy a day out on the beach. Levanto is also a great base for exploring all five of the Cinque Terre seaside villages, either by train or on foot.
Alternatively, head to the historic town of La Spezia and catch the train from there. The Cinque Terre are ruggedly-beautiful villages that are dotted with colourful houses and charm with their authentic, fishing-community atmosphere.
What you should know…
- The villa is made up of two independent 'apartments', one with 3 bedrooms, the other with 5 bedrooms (one featuring a double sofa-bed).
- he 10-person price includes the 5-bedroom apartment only whilst the 16-person price includes the 3-bedroom apartment too. See the "Features" tab for details.
- For smaller groups, rest assured that the other apartment will not be rented out during your stay and you will have exclusive use of the grounds.
- One of the bedrooms is on mezzanine level above the living area.
- The owner's apartment is also part of the residence however they do not stay there when guests are present.
- Please note that published rates are only valid for the current year. Any bookings for subsequent years will be on request only and correct rates will be confirmed at the time of booking.

About the surrounding area of Villa SassetaCountry walks are on your doorstep when you enjoy a stay at Villa Sasseta. Wherever you explore, you’ll get to take in spectacular hill and valley views along the way. Despite the villa’s secluded and rural location, there are amenities within easy reach. An osteria/restaurant is just a 10-minute drive away, as is a grocery store in a small village nearby.
The closest town to Villa Sasseta is Brugnato (14km). Here you’ll find a great range of restaurants, shops, supermarkets and banks.
The famous Cinque Terre is around an hour’s drive from the villa. This series of five seaside villages are characterised by their traditional fishing atmosphere and the colourful houses that perch precariously on cliff edges and hillsides. Monterosso al Mare (43km) is the nearest village to reach from the villa and has a sandy beach and numerous wine shops to its name. Corniglia sits on a rocky promontory and is where you can take in views of all five villages. Visit Riomaggiore to stroll around its beautiful botanical garden and bird-watching centre.
As well as the Cinque Terre village of Monterosso al Mare featuring a lovely beach, the town of Levanto (35km) has a long stretch of its own. The sand gently slopes into the water, making the beach very family-friendly and safe for everyone to enjoy a swim. You can also hire sun loungers and simply relax and take in the sounds of the sea. The town of Bonassola is just 3km from Levanto, so why not hire some bikes and cycle along scenic paths to reach it.
La Spezia (45km) has a picturesque waterfront area and plenty of historical sites to visit, including 13th-century San Giorgio Castle. You can also easily reach several towns in northern Tuscany from Villa Sasseta, such as Massa (60km) and Carrara (57km), with the latter famous for its marble production. Even Viareggio, Lucca and Pisa can be reached in just over an hour.

Best Suited For: All AgesEnjoy long walks in the countryside that immediately surrounds Villa Sasseta, with even more hiking trails on offer in and around the Cinque Terre villages.
Riomaggiore (49km) is also home to a bird-watching centre and botanical gardens, which are sure to keep the children happy and entertained. They’ll also enjoy playing on the beach and in the sea at Monterosso al Mare.
The town of Levanto (35km) also has a lovely, sandy beach for spending a family day out by the seaside.
If you visit La Spezia (45km) during the summer months, you can go on a boat trip out to Palmaria Island. This pretty spot is full of hidden caves and pebble beaches to explore.
