You’ll see double when you stay in the fabulous new build, Villa Maria Carolina, nestled in the heart of the countryside, near the south coast of the Italian island of Sicily. The eco-friendly villa is privileged to enjoy sweeping panoramic views over the Sicilian countryside, towards the mystical Donnafugata Castle, and the historic village. This incredible one-storey, detached property is perfectly symmetrical and has two of everything, including private swimming pools. The spacious six ensuite double bedrooms can comfortably accommodate up to twelve guests, ideal for a significant family holiday, two families sharing, or a group of friends’ get-together.
The exterior is ultra-modern, with floor-to-ceiling windows that flood the space with natural light. The interiors are cool and contemporary, furnished with minimalist sleek elegance, and decorated in a palette of neutral shades, with splashes of primary colour highlights.
Enter the villa through the central doors, and there are identical arrangements on either side. The picture postcard view living spaces have L-shaped sofas, armchairs, coffee and side tables, flat-screen satellite televisions, and six-seater dining sets under seriously funky lighting. The galley-style kitchens are fully equipped with all the latest appliances, including breakfast, tall stools, and must-have morning coffee makers. There are three bedrooms on each side of the property, all with air conditioning and ensuite bathrooms. Two bedrooms have double beds, and one has twin beds in each side of the property. This clever configuration is perfect for two families to share the villa and retain their space and privacy.
Step outside onto the terrace and admire the views from the two soft seating spots. Take your pick: go left to swim in the circular pool, or go right and do a few lengths in the rectangular one. Both pools are surrounded by inviting sun loungers and side tables to hold your cocktails. Enjoy a stroll around the extensive gardens, with orchards laden with fruit in season and aromatic plants and herbs you can use in your cooking. As dusk falls, meet under the shady gazebo and feast alfresco at one of the six-seater dining sets, with dishes freshly grilled on the barbeque.
