Why it's perfect for families

Good for babies

A relatively short plane ride will make travelling with a baby almost stress-free. We would recommend Lindos beach for shady spots and calm waters, perfect for baby’s first beach experience!

Good for kids

With many of the beaches offering shallow waters, kids will be free to paddle in the turquoise sea. There are also plenty of kid-friendly attractions on offer, including Faliraki waterpark and Farma of Rhodes petting zoo for the little ones.

Good for teens

Rhodes is dripping in exciting history and awe-inspiring castles that will grab the attention of even the grumpiest teenagers! For a day out on the beach, why not have a go at some water-sports to get their adrenaline pumping?

Top Tips

  • Cash: If you’re visiting rural villages, be sure to take cash as many won’t have card facilities.

  • Tipping: In restaurants it’s usually included as a service charge, but you can either round up the bill or leave a tip of 10%. Round up the fare for taxis, or add a couple of euros.

  • Avoid crowds: If you’re hoping to avoid scalding heat and crowds of tourists, try visiting in May or late September.

One of the most well-known parts of Rhodes is the clifftop Lindos Acropolis perched on a steep cliff with sea views – it’s an absolute must-see. Top Tips

  • If you’re hiring a car, make sure you book well in advance, especially during the peak season.

  • For the more rural petrol stations, you’ll need to pay in cash.

  • Road etiquette can be ‘flexible’, especially at STOP signs and junctions, so approach with caution.

Getting there and around

Flights

Rhodes has its own airport and there are direct flights available with many British airlines, including BA, EasyJet and Jet2.

Get here by boat

Ferry boats are available daily to take you to nearby islands but times and schedules differ throughout the year.

By car

We would suggest hiring a car to visit the more remote towns and villages.

By bus

Probably the easiest way to get around, the frequent bus services are widespread throughout the island. Schedules and routes are exhibited on bust stops and in Rhodes Harbour in both Greek and English.

By foot

It is certainly enjoyable to explore Rhodes by foot if you don’t plan on going too far out but do bear in mind the high temperatures when planning a long route.
