Book Now & Grow Green: 3 Trees Planted with Every Booking!

This Earth Day, join our mission to plant 3 trees for every booking made between April 22nd - 28th, 2024. Let's make a sustainable impact together! Learn more about our journey here >>

Ideally located for visiting Les Baux-de-Provence, Maison De Bois is a delightful holiday home with a private swimming pool set in its picturesque garden. Passing seemingly endless olive trees, you can be sipping coffee on a café terrace in Maussane-les-Alpilles within a 5-minute drive.

Maison De Bois enjoys a pretty setting overlooking a meadow and fields. The house has been tastefully decorated with neutral tones and touches of Provençal character alongside stylish furnishings and contemporary fittings. All five bedrooms, one of which is on the ground floor, feature queen or king-size double beds and there are four modern shower rooms (three of them en suite).

Outside, sit back in the shade of the terrace or play boules by the olive trees accompanied by the sound of the trickling fountain. The swimming pool is set in the lovely garden with that gorgeous rural view and there are sun loungers and parasols for soaking up the sun. As evening nears, prepare family feasts on the barbecue or relax with friends and a good bottle of local wine.

The attractive village of Maussane-les-Alpilles is just 3km away, home to restaurants, little shops and a weekly market on a Wednesday morning. Les Baux-de-Provence, classified as one of France’s ‘Plus Beaux Villages’, is a joy to explore with its medieval lanes and historic château. Just 6km away, head there early to avoid the summer day-trippers!

Elsewhere across Les Alpilles, come across picture-perfect restaurants in Eygalières, try some of France’s finest olive oil in Mouriès and visit the bustling Thursday morning market in artistic Saint-Rémy-de-Provence.

Avignon is also within easy reach or spend the day in Arles, perhaps combined with a drive through the landscapes of the Camargue. In the other direction are the charming antique stores of L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, the incredible beauty of Fontaine-de-Vaucluse alongside the vineyards, orchards, perched villages and magnificent scenery of the Luberon.

In Les Alpilles Natural Regional Park, Maison De Bois is a short drive from both Maussane-les-Alpilles and Les Baux-de-Provence. If arriving by train, Avignon’s TGV station is 32km by car (Paris to Avignon takes 2 hours 45 minutes) whilst the airports near Avignon, Nimes and Marseille are all within easy reach.

The villa is in a rural setting (with neighbours so not isolated), facing a picturesque field/meadow and set just off the road that connects Maussane-les-Alpilles towards Eygalières/ Mouriès. Maussane-les-Alpilles (3km) is a lovely village with a restaurants, pretty café terraces, a Spar supermarket and a small array of shops selling local produce (wine, cheese, meat etc).

As you explore you will pass so many olive trees – indeed, both Maussane-les-Alpilles and nearby Mouriès (6km) are known for their olive oil production, some of the finest in France. There are gorgeous walks through the olive groves and the opportunity to sample olive oil, wine, cheese, honey and more. Pick up more regional delights at the Thursday morning market in Maussane and try traditional gastronomy at nearby restaurants (including Le Bistro du Paradou around a 10-minute drive away).

Other gems across Les Alpilles include hilltop Eygalières (15km), authentic Fontvieille (11km) and artistic Saint-Rémy-de-Provence (11km), known for its Wednesday morning market and Vincent Van Gogh heritage. Les Baux-de-Provence (6km) and its chateau are a must-see – it is classified as one of France’s ‘Plus Beaux Villages’.

Spend the day in the historic town of Arles, also loved by Van Gogh and the gateway to the Camargue, or venture towards the Luberon landscapes with idyllic perched villages including Ménerbes, Gordes and Roussillon all within an hour. Visit the Sunday morning brocante in L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue (41km), canoe or kayak along the Sorgue near Fontaine-de-Vaucluse (45km) and soak up the history of the small city of Avignon (31km).

A cot and a highchair can be requested when staying at Maison De Bois. The garden is lovely here and you can enjoy a family game of pétanque. It is also handy being just a 5-minute drive from Maussane-les-Alpilles for shops and restaurants.

Les Baux-de-Provence will enchant every age with its historic hilltop chateau and medieval centre – ask at the tourist office for a ‘treasure map’ to help you explore. You are also close to Carrières des Lumières, around a 10-minute drive away, where artwork is projected on to quarry walls with sound and light.

Both Saint-Rémy and Arles will appeal to art and history enthusiasts with many galleries, exhibitions and historic sites. The more energetic young guests may enjoy canoeing or kayaking along the Sorgue near Fontaine-de-Vaucluse or by the incredible Roman aqueduct, Pont du Gard, both less than an hour away.

Discover tree-top adventures with trails for many ages near Lagnes/Fontaine-de-Vaucluse, a charming little farm at L'Arche de Méo as well as the larger and popular Zoo Barben just beyond Salon-de-Provence. A little closer to home, check the opening dates of Vélorail des Alpilles in Fontvieille where you can pedal open-air vehicles along an old railway line with wonderful scenery.
