Overview
Sip a chilled glass of rosé as you relax in the shade of the wisteria-clad pergola, looking out towards the swimming pool, knowing you are just a short stroll from the charming bistros and upmarket restaurants of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence.
Fleur de Lys is a beautiful and, in many ways, unique holiday home in an ideal setting for making the most of your time in Provence. The interiors are as striking as they are comfortable – step into the lounge and admire the bold light fittings, elegant sofas and exquisite chairs alongside old photos and vibrant artwork adorning the walls. The kitchen is bright and modern with an attractive dresser and breakfast bar whilst guests will adore each of the four bedrooms with their eye-catching feature walls and contemporary bathrooms.
Outside, the garden is a relaxing haven with shrubs and summer flowers, a dreamy pergola for al-fresco dining with loved ones and a heated swimming pool with a sweet covered outdoor lounge. A wonderful space to spend quality time with family or friends, accompanied by fine wine, good cheese and other delights bought from local Provençal markets.
It’s around a five to ten minute walk to the old quarter of Saint-Rémy where you will come across little shops, artist studios and galleries as you explore the narrow lanes of this much-loved town. The popular Wednesday morning market is a joy with its many stall-holders selling delicious seasonal produce alongside Provençal crafts and look out for the Creators Market on weekly evenings in the summer.
Follow the footsteps of Van Gogh, visit the famous Saint-Paul de Mausole and be amazed by the Roman site of Glanum, just south of the town. Medieval villages are dotted amongst the idyllic landscapes of Les Alpilles Regional Nature Park such as Les Baux-de-Provence, Maussane and Eygalières or head further afield to other gems of Provence such as Arles, Avignon and Gordes.
Hike, cycle or ride on horse-back through vineyards, olive groves and farmland, passing glorious landscapes of rolling hills, dense forests and limestone rocks – this part of southern France will enchant you.

Location
About the surrounding area of Fleur De LysFleur de Lys enjoys a fantastic location on a residential street in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, around a five to ten-minute walk to the heart of this charming town and everything that it has to offer.
Wander to the historic quarter of this beautiful village and you will find shops, art studios and galleries, bistros, pavement cafes and upmarket restaurants. The Wednesday morning market is especially delightful selling all sorts of seasonal produce from across Provence as well as artisan crafts. On Tuesday summer evenings look out for a Creators Market and some Sundays you’ll find artists lined up along the ‘Route des Artistes’ selling their work.
Saint-Rémy is also well-known for its associations with Van Gogh – follow the artists trail across the town, ending at Saint-Paul de Mausole when Van Gogh spent the end of his life. Van Gogh lovers should also spend time in Arles, around 30km by car and home to the interesting Fondation Vincent van Gogh.
Spend time discovering the natural beauty of Saint-Rémy’s surroundings with olive groves, orchards, farmland, vineyards and rolling hills and limestone rocks – this is Les Alpilles Regional Nature Park. There are some wonderful walks and hikes from gentle strolls along the Canal des Alpines to more challenging hikes through the rugged hills. Cycling, horse-riding and rock-climbing are other great ways to experience the stunning landscapes of this region.
Visit idyllic medieval villages such as Les Baux-de-Provence, one of France’s ‘Plus Beaux Villages’ and charming Maussane-les-Alpilles, a picture-perfect small village with a number of restaurants from pizzerias to Michelin starred establishments. Eygalières is another favourite, especially amongst celebrities – visit on a Friday morning to experience its picturesque weekly market.
Of course, there are plenty of vineyards to visit, wines to sample, olive oils to try and other weekly markets to enjoy – if staying in July look out for Cavaillon’s melons sold locally, just one of the many specialities from this area.
The small city of Avignon is another brilliant day trip with its UNESCO World Heritage sites, superb restaurants and various markets. The mesmerising Luberon is also waiting to be explored with bucolic perched villages such as Bonnieux, Roussillon and Van Gogh’s beloved Gordes, all under an hour by car.

Best Suited For: All AgesWith Saint-Rémy and its shops and restaurants within walking distance, this is a great place to stay with lots for families to do across the region.
Other than enjoying the markets, galleries and art studios of Saint-Rémy, you can also follow the Van Gogh trail and learn how this part of Provence inspired some of the artist’s most famous works. The Saint-Paul de Mausole monastery, where Van Gogh spent the end of his life, can also be visited, close to the fascinating Roman site of Glanum.
Close to Les Baux-de-Provences, Carrières de Lumières is a fantastic sound and light show where famous artworks are projected on to the quarry walls accompanied by music.
Les Baux-de-Provences is a great day out in itself – visit early as it is such a popular place to visit. Head to the tourist office for children’s maps showing you a sort of treasure hunt (‘paper chase’) across the historic village, before visiting the impressive château.
For families who love the outdoors, there are plenty of hikes, cycle rides, tennis in Saint-Rémy, pony-trekking and horse-riding as well as rock-climbing (both in Les Alpilles and Luberon region) and kayaking near L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue.
