Overview
Fall in love with this picture-perfect house in Normandy set in a beautiful garden with a heated swimming pool and apple orchard. In the Pays d’Auge countryside near Pont-l'Évêque, staying at Manoir D’Auge is a quintessential Normandy experience close to pretty villages, cider farms and markets, only half an hour from the Belle Époque seaside town of Deauville.
Having remained in the same family for generations, the owners are delighted to offer their gorgeous thatched cottage to up to 10 guests throughout the year. Manoir d’Auge is chic and stylish yet also exudes traditional warmth and comfort alongside plenty of contemporary touches. Relax in the salon with century-old wood beams, a large fireplace and a sumptuous corner sofa as well as Smart TV (Netflix and satellite channels) and high-end sound system. The country kitchen features an open fire for winter cooking alongside all the modern appliances you could wish to prepare delicious meals, perhaps to enjoy on the long terrace as summer arrives.
The charming ambience continues upstairs with five double bedrooms, four with queen-sized beds (one which can be split as a twin), all featuring phone chargers, TVs and good quality bedding and linen ensuring a restful sleep. Wake up in the morning to glorious garden or valley views.
It feels like the owners have thought of everything here. Cider, apple juice and other local products will be left out for your arrival, there’s bottled water in the bedrooms and even an initial supply of kitchen basics and Nespresso capsules are provided. The French billiard room is another touch of elegance whilst there are board games and plenty of outdoor games for all ages (pétanque, badminton, swing ball etc).
The large sun-filled garden is an absolute joy. Savour your morning coffee on the outdoor sofa listening to birdsong, enjoy picnics beneath the shady trees and gather for al-fresco evening feasts on the long terrace overlooking summer roses, hydrangeas and the verdant lawn. The pétanque court and apple orchard add yet more French character whilst guests will also adore the seasonal swimming pool, set a little further down in the garden, fully-enclosed and heated in the summer months.
In the Calvados region of Normandy, there is so much to explore during your time in this captivating part of rural northern France. There is a small village just 2km away with a highly regarded restaurant serving home-made Normandy dishes whilst historic Liseux (8.5km) is home to more restaurants, shops and a lovely market on a Saturday morning for stocking up on local cheese, cider, seafood and more.
Follow the Route du Cidre as you discover idyllic villages such as Cambremer, Beaufour-Druval and Beuvron-en-Auge within a short drive, and visit nearby cider farms (also try calvados, perry and Pommeau). Pont-l'Évêque, less than 20 minutes away, is a paradise for gourmands with its cheese producers, food shops and Monday morning market showcasing one of Normandy’s oldest and most famous cheeses.
Then there’s the splendour of La Côte Fleurie including the French seaside town of Deauville, so loved by Parisians with its boutiques, high-end restaurants and iconic boardwalk. Soak up the historic magnificence of Honfleur and spend the day by the vast sandy beaches of Trouville-sur-Mer or Cabourg.
The D-Day landing beaches of Arromanches-les-Bains and Omaha are just over an hour away whilst the white-cliffs of Étretat are in the other direction, via the maritime city of Le Havre. After a busy day exploring, return to your authentic, high-end home in Normandy and truly appreciate its charming and characterful surroundings.

Ferries arrive into Caen (50km) or Le Havre (52km) whilst Cherbourg and Dieppe are also worth considering, both around a 2-hour drive away. Saint-Gatien Airport (28km) has some international arrivals and the nearest train station is Liseux (9.5km) – trains from Paris Saint-Lazare to Liseux take 1 hour 50 minutes.
A small rural village is 2km away with a café, church and traditional restaurant serving home-made Normandy dishes according to the season – dine inside or on the pretty terrace. The nearest town is Liseux (8.5km) with restaurants, shops, historic churches, half-timbered houses and a wonderful market on a Saturday morning showcasing the best regional produce including plenty of cheese and cider. On a hill overlooking the town, admire the magnificence of Basilique Sainte-Thérèse de Lisieux – it somehow escaped major damage during the war.
Across the Pays d’Auge, there are so many pretty villages to visit, many along Normandy’s Route du Cidre which passes through Cambremer, Beaufour-Druval and Beuvron-en-Auge (one of France’s ‘Plus Beaux Villages’), all within a 15 to 20-minute drive. Pont-l'Évêque (16.5km) is a paradise for keen gourmands thanks to its cheese producers, food shops and weekly market on a Monday morning. Look out for Pont-l'Évêque cheese, Camembert, Livarot, seafood, crème fraiche, calvados, cider alongside a wealth of seasonal delights.

Start off in Deauville (26km), so loved by Parisians with its excellent restaurants, boutiques, iconic boardwalk and Belle Époque architecture. Honfleur (33km) is famed for its historic harbour and handsome houses or soak up the joyful seaside ambience of Trouville-sur-Mer (29km) and Cabourg (32km).
Further afield in Normandy, the historic town of Bayeux (80km) is just over an hour away and the D-Day Normandy beaches of Arromanches-les-Bains (85km) and Omaha (99km) are a fascinating day out. In the other direction, cross over the impressive Pont de Normandie to explore the maritime city of Le Havre (65km) or continue towards the famous white cliffs of Étretat (85km) and beyond.

The best vacation rental home I have ever been to
Manoir D'Auge was exactly as pictured and described on the website, if not better. It’s everything I’d imagine a French country home would be like. Picturesque, warm, cozy, and comfortable. I have rented many homes and apartments in my travels, and this home by far is the best! All furnishings and cookware and dishes were top quality products, as if it was for every day living. Not just cheaply done for rentals. Everything was immaculately clean. Catherine, our hostess, was very warm and welcoming and helpful. She even provided us with some local treats - eggs, butter, ciders and milk.
Plenty of space for 9 of us, 6 adults, 3 young children. All the beds were very cozy and comfortable. Most rentals I’ve been at, their beds weren’t great and you could feel the coils in the beds. Not these. They were so cozy, it was hard to get up and leave the bed.
Honestly, the best vacation rental home I have ever been to. I wish we had more time there.
The next home I build, I’m going to model it after this home. -
Super house!
Super house! A real cocoon where it's good to be together and live to the rhythm of the flambées. We loved the decor, the calmness and the little touches. It's a beautiful place, we'll be back!

You won't regret booking.
You won’t regret booking. The house is lovely and in immaculate order. The surroundings are beautiful and peaceful. Very comfortable beds and seating. Happy to have stayed much longer! Lots to do in the property - especially the fabulous pool. We also enjoyed lots of the areas sights particularly
Lisieux Basilica, Honfleur and Jardins du Pays D’Auge. Particular thanks to the owner, for making special arrangements for my father. -
An absolute gem of a rental
This house is an absolute gem of a rental in the Normandy region of France. True escapism, yet close enough to all of Normandy's attractions. We enjoyed 7 wonderful days, taking advantage of the large pool, boules court and outdoor area with barbecue and outdoor seating. The home offers all the amenities one would desire including a well-equipped kitchen. The house, with its thatched roof and expansive yard, offers opportunities for
appreciating the out-of-doors. This is an holiday home that far exceeded our standards and would most definitely be on our list the next time we are in
the Normandy region of France. -
Perfect
Manoir D'Auge is just gorgeous and felt very cosy. The attention to detail in terms of interior decorating was very luxurious. My boyfriend and I chose this place to celebrate his birthday and we also chose it
to get engaged. The owner was a great communicator and helpful in finding me a masseuse and a private chef. Such a great chef. And the masseuse she booked for us were very professional as well. All in all don’t hesitate to book. The weekend was perfect and I couldn’t have chosen a better place for a birthday celebration and engagement.

By far our best rental experience!
By far our best rental experience! Perfect welcome, top equipment and very very pretty decoration,
it's all in the detail! Evenings by the fire, cooking by the fire, a cocoon for winter evenings! This house
is soothing and you immediately feel at home. -
A place to to remember.
Very pretty house in an extraordinary setting.
Sophisticated decoration, nothing missing (we had fun looking for a little something missing but we couldn't find anything). Very well-kept garden
and fabulous sunsets. A place to
to remember. -
Really an amazing place!
The house, the garden and the pool are fantastic! Really an amazing place! The owner is very thoughtful and answers to any questions and needs. We had a lovely and restful stay in this beautiful house! We definitely recommend this property and hope to be back soon.

We will definitely be back!
We were a family of 9 - 6 adults, 2 kids (aged 10 and 4) and a baby (5mo) - and had a wonderful 10-day stay. The house was great and had every amenity we could need, the pool area was fantastic, the location itself was idyllic and the host was lovely. (Also highly recommend the local restaurant Le Pot d’Etain at the bottom of the hill!) We will definitely be back!!
