You and your guests will feel like aristocracy in this stately 17th century chateau overlooking the Dordogne river. It has been painstakingly restored in the French renaissance style - whether you’re reading in the library or wandering the 20-hectare park with private hiking paths, here your chateau holiday will recall the grandeur of old.

Luxe perks are readily available (maid service, on-site concierge, and a chef service, all at additional cost), so your only worries involve how to spend your family holiday. And you certainly have options; descend to the private pool in a green garden, walk just a few minutes to the banks of the river Dordogne, or explore the heights of the chateau’s towers.

The Dordogne holds endless possibilities - boat cruises, hot-air ballooning, golf, canoeing and discovering the dozens of beautiful small towns. We recommend touring Sarlat-la-Canéda (15 km), where the Rue de la Republique is a medieval maze for pedestrians only. A culinary center, here you’ll find foie gras and truffles, the region’s specialties. Wine lovers will demand a day trip to Bergerac (90 km), the centre of the region's wine production. However you spend your days here, they'll be infused with the magic of the Dordogne.

Good news! For a little extra, this property can be booked as a Vill'otel

  • Best Stay Ever!!

    Posted by Anne on 18/07/2018

This Chateau is the most fabulous place we have ever stayed. We were 16 and everything was absolutely fabulous. There are ten bedrooms, so we had rooms that we didn't even use! We ate dinners and lunches outside (there are two different long tables, so that we were always in the shade, depending on the time of day), we spent every afternoon (and some evenings) in the pools and the kitchen and dinning room are spectacular. The house has absolutely everything you could possibly need, and some surprises like bocce, croquet, cooking tools, kids toys, board games, etc. It's spectacular and it should be impossible not to have a fabulous time. Isabelle, the owner and manager is absolutely lovely and the staff (cooks, sommelier and housekeepers are wonderful).

  • Brilliant Experience

    Posted by Tom on 15/08/2017

We were all very impressed by the welcome that was given to us and the rapid response to any questions or requests ---especially the promised champagne and wine which was summoned up so speedily.
It's an amazingly beautiful chateau and we had great fun there with the generous support.
Thank you particularly for organising a splendid trip to the Domme vineyard and the excellent restaurant we lunched at afterwards.
We had a wonderful week and particularly enjoyed the views of the Dordogne River from the bedroom windows and terraces of the chateau.
I wish you every success with the chateau in future and thank you once again wholeheartedly for your very considerate care of our group -- and our holiday.

  • What a wonderful time we all had

Posted by Marion A. on 21/06/2017

Hello Isabelle, what a wonderful time we all had at Chateau de Ruffiac. The house is so beautiful and well set up. And we all enjoyed meeting you. You are so welcoming and helpful. We will all remember our times sitting out in the garden having drinks and dinner with those wonderful views. And what a beautiful part of France! I can see why your parents wanted to have a place there. I have spent the last two nights in Aberdeen and it is grey and bleak. I miss the beautiful greens of Perigord and the soft, honey- coloured stone of the buildings. However, now I'm on the ferry and we sail soon for the overnight trip to the Shetland Islands. Regards, Marion

  • Un chateau magnifique

Posted by Rebecca L. on 16/01/2017

Bien amicalement, Rebecca.

  • We had a wonderful time

    Posted by KJ on 16/04/2014

By way of feedback, I can report that we had a wonderful time at Chateau Rouffillac, and we were well looked after by Isabelle. The chateau was very comfortable with everything we needed to make it a memorable holiday. Thank you for all your assistance in organising such a great location!

  • Fabulous

Posted by Flora | Oliver's Travels on 11/03/2014

I was lucky enough to stay at the chateau towards the tail end of last year. I absolutely agree with the review below that it's a wonderful place to stay but can also confirm that the following changes have been made:
    - A new improved wifi has been added and I had no problems with it during my stay.
    - The chateau can be cool outside of the summer months on account of the thick stone walls (but you can just turn the heating up if you need it).
    - The outdoor pool can be cold outside of the summer months (but you certainly don't need it any warmer in July & August) - it just depends if you're lucky with the weather.

  • Had a wonderful stay here.

Posted by Anonymous User on 19/06/2012

    Had a wonderful stay here.
Very big! & Peaceful. Grounds are massive.
All the little handy amenities cork screw, cake tins
    etc.) are provided.
Would have been good to bring/know: A hot water bottle
    Wireless internet reception not good if you move away from the modem bc thick walls tend not to be permeable to the WiFi signal;
Outdoor swimming pool is very cold especially if, like us, you don't bother to put the cover on.
    REALLY lovely.
