Nestled in the heart of the Dordogne countryside, this gorgeous five-bedroom farmhouse is the ideal spot to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Admire the rolling hills while taking a dip in the inviting pool or relaxing on the terrace. There are plenty of quaint local villages to explore, offering a glimpse into the relaxed pace of life typical of the area.

Inside, the villa is beautifully decorated and features modern amenities, while still maintaining its traditional charm, with exposed wooden beams and stone walls. Tall windows and French doors create a seamless flow between the indoors and outdoors, filling the rooms with natural light and giving them an open, airy feel. When you return from a long day outside, the comfortable living room invites you to unwind with your favourite book while the fireplace keeps you warm. The modern, fully-equipped kitchen has everything you need to prepare meals to enjoy with loved ones in the dining room. Upstairs, the bedrooms exude a homely, authentic atmosphere, with the master bedroom featuring a luxurious standalone tub.

Surrounded by lush green fields and rolling hills, this villa offers a serene and setting to relax. The large private pool is great for cooling off on hot summer days while taking in the sweeping views of the surrounding landscape. If you are visiting in the cooler months, the pool is heated for your convenience. Gather with family and friends and play a game of boules, perfect for a sunny afternoon.

In just a 30-minute drive, you can reach the breathtaking village of Rocamadour, renowned for its religious significance and unique architecture. Here you’ll find the pilgrimage site of the Sanctuary of Rocamadour, with various religious edifices and chapels chiselled into the cliff's edge. Ascend the Grand Escalier staircase for sweeping views of the surrounding countryside which you can admire from the village's top. Other historical sites include the Château de Rocamadour, a 14th-century castle, and the Grotte des Merveilles, a prehistoric cavern showcasing awe-inspiring rock formations.

For those seeking a bit of adventure, a trip to the natural wonder of Gouffre de Padirac is well worth the half-hour drive. This remarkable location features an enormous sinkhole leading to a network of underground caves and waterways that are nothing short of mind-blowing. You have the option to descend into the cave either by foot or by taking a lift, followed by a boat tour along the river to admire the incredible geological formations and underground waterfalls.

Happy to drive a bit further? There are lots of lovely villages and towns within an hour's drive. One is Saint-Cirq-Lapopie, a cute village perched on a cliff overlooking the Lot River, known for its pretty buildings and gorgeous views. Another is Sarlat-la-Canéda, a well-preserved medieval town with winding streets, impressive historical sites, and a bustling market. Finally, the town of Cahors is steeped in history and is situated on the Lot River. With a fortified bridge, restaurants and wineries, it’s definitely worth a visit.

Region

The pace of life in the Dordogne is languid, laid back and positively infectious. Relax in bucolic beauty as you drift along the Dordogne River, or wander among the forests and hillside of the Périgord Natural Park.

The foodie scene too, is a relaxed affair. Take your time over your lazy lunches of local duck, black truffles and goats cheese. If you’re feeling energetic, you can even hunt for them yourself. The wine here is second to none, with infamous grapes like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Chenin Blanc all having a huge presence here.

The Dordogne is also brimming with history. Castles and chateaux are scattered throughout the region, among the enchanting medieval villages. History of an altogether more ancient sort can also be explored in the incredible prehistoric cave drawings of Lascaux and Grotte de Rouffignac.

  • A Very Nice Time

    on 27/10/2023

We had a very nice time in the house. The person who coordinates things there is very nice and helpful. If you like peace and quiet, it is the ideal place to stay. You can sunbathe and swim naturistically and the house is fully equipped.

We also think it is a beautiful house with lots of space and it has a fantastic view. There are many nice places to visit in the area and you can also enjoy delicious food in the area.

  • Great time

    on 19/09/2023

We like the house very much! Thank you very much for this trip. We have a great time together. That's why we want to reserve it again for next year right away.

  • Perfect for groups, had a great time!

    on 30/08/2023

We had a great time at Maison Marius! Really a perfect house for our group, a lovely swimming pool, several nice terraces. Alternating relaxation on the sun loungers by the pool with a fanatical game of table tennis or jeu de boules ;-) very nice!

The contact person in France is also fantastic; very sweet and cordial. She explained everything to us very well and waved us goodbye afterwards.

  • In short: recommended!

    Created on 07/08/2023

What a great house this is and what a wonderful holiday we had here! Really everything is there to enjoy a wonderful holiday here. All super cared for; everything you can think of is there. A nice heated swimming pool with a children's pool for the kids, a Jeu de Boules court for everyone and excellent internet (anything but usual in France in our experience) and a kitchen with all the trimmings. Delivered perfectly clean by a very sweet lady from the neighborhood. The bedrooms are clean, large and equipped with good beds. In the village itself is one restaurant that was unfortunately not open that often for us. Fortunately, there are many possibilities for nice villages / towns (Martel, Soulliac, Brive, Rocamadour) in the area and there is plenty to do / see (caves, animal park, 2 MTB trails nearby, hiking trails). In short: recommended!
