In the heart of Perigord Vert in the Dordogne, lies the magnificent 19th Century Chateau Le Duc. Built in 1840, it has recently been refurbished to the highest standard of luxury. Each room has been carefully decorated with traditional colours and wallpaper from Farrow and Ball, and furnished with antiques and works of art. All bathrooms are of the highest standard, using brands such as Lefroy Brooks and Sottini and bed linen and towels from Frette. Each bedroom has a TV, DVD and telephone.

Chateau Le Duc is set in 12 acres of beautifully kept gardens, complete with fruit orchards, a swimming pool and badminton court. Breakfast, afternoon tea and dinner can be taken on the terrace overlooking the picturesque village of Lanouaille, or alternatively a candle lit dinner can be enjoyed in the dining room.

The Chateau Le Duc is an historic landmark in French history. This was once the palatial home of a really existed Duke. This chateau was actually given to him as a token of appreciation for his dedication to France. The Duke served under Napoleon and was most noted for plotting the victorious Algerian war in 1836. His influence on French history is evident in the numerous statues and landmarks named after him in France.

The Region

The pace of life in the Dordogne is languid, laid back and positively infectious. Relax in bucolic beauty as you drift along the Dordogne River, or wander among the forests and hillside of the Périgord Natural Park.

The foodie scene too, is a relaxed affair. Take your time over your lazy lunches of local duck, black truffles and goats cheese. If you’re feeling energetic, you can even hunt for them yourself. The wine here is second to none, with infamous grapes like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Chenin Blanc all having a huge presence here.

The Dordogne is also brimming with history. Castles and chateaux are scattered throughout the region, among the enchanting medieval villages. History of an altogether more ancient sort can also be explored in the incredible prehistoric cave drawings of Lascaux and Grotte de Rouffignac.

  • Chateau Le Duc wedding June 2016 review

Posted by jennifer m on 16/06/2016

We cannot recommend Chateau Le Duc enough, the chateau was our perfect wedding venue, beautifully decorated with perfectly kept grounds. It has everything you could possibly need and want. An amazing place to celebrate special occasions with your nearest and dearest. With plenty of bedrooms and space for people to escape too. The pool is amazing and in the beautiful Dordogne heat its so refreshing. The owners and staff i can honestly say are some of the nicest people I have met nothing is a problem. Would love to be back here someday again, I'm trying to convince all my friends to get married here so we have an excuse otherwise we shall have an anniversary party/holiday here in the future. Honestly can't express how wonderful our week was at the chateau. For people considering booking it go for it you won't be disappointed in fact you'll be overwhelmed at its charm and beauty.

  • Amazing!

There is plenty of room here for a large party to spread out, with large formal areas, cosy corners and a great deal of outdoor space. Much of the interior is suitably splendid.

  • We indulged in fantasies of nobility

We indulged in fantasies of nobility.. the chateau is probably smarter now than it ever was when it was owned by a Duke!
