This magnificent Chateau lies in the Perigord region of the Dordogne. Originally built in 1840 and recently refurbished to the highest standards, the chateau features antique furnishings, original artworks and designer décor making it the epitome of luxury.

This estate sleeps 43 guests in total: 33 in the main Chateau and adjacent annexe and a further 10 in the gite, which is located within the grounds of Chateau Le Duc. Twelve acres of beautifully maintained gardens, which feature mature fruit orchards, a swimming pool and a badminton court, are yours to enjoy. Meals can be taken either on the terrace, which boasts a lovely view of the Perigord and the Dordogne, or in the chateau’s dining room.

The main chateau boasts 8 bedrooms and bathrooms, 5 of which are en suite. There is also a large drawing room, dining room, a snooker room, a modern well equipped kitchen, an office, a library and a separate television room. There are a further 8 bedrooms in the adjacent annexe whilst the gite features 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, ideal for a family.

An historic landmark in French history, the chateau was once the palatial home of a duke who served under Napoleon and it was given to him as a token of his appreciation for his dedication to France. His influence on French history is evident in the numerous statues and landmarks named after him in France.

Region

The pace of life in the Dordogne is languid, laid back and positively infectious. Relax in bucolic beauty as you drift along the Dordogne River, or wander among the forests and hillside of the Périgord Natural Park.

The foodie scene too, is a relaxed affair. Take your time over your lazy lunches of local duck, black truffles and goats cheese. If you’re feeling energetic, you can even hunt for them yourself. The wine here is second to none, with infamous grapes like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Chenin Blanc all having a huge presence here.

The Dordogne is also brimming with history. Castles and chateaux are scattered throughout the region, among the enchanting medieval villages. History of an altogether more ancient sort can also be explored in the incredible prehistoric cave drawings of Lascaux and Grotte de Rouffignac.

  • Amazing!

Posted by Claire G on 12/10/2015

This is the most beautiful place to stay and the hosts are wonderful!

  • We indulged in fantasies of nobility

Posted by Gavanndra Hodge - The Evening Standard on 08/03/2010

We indulged in fantasies of nobility.. the chateau is probably smarter now than it ever was when it was owned by a Duke!

  • Tastefully designed, excellent for parties!

Posted by Traveller Conde Nast on 24/02/2010

There is plenty of room here for a large party to spread out, with large formal areas, cosy corners and a great deal of outdoor space. Much of the interior is suitably splendid.

  • The Sunday Telegraph

Posted by victoria heinig on 23/02/2010

The latest holiday trend for families-whether celebrating a wedding, landmark birthday or anniversary, or simply joining forces to the split the costs - is to take over a chateau and live like lords and ladies for a week or two.
