Featured in The Telegraph ‘The 10 Best Villa Holidays in France for 2017’
This extraordinary Brittany villa is set on a bluff high above a beautiful blue bay of the English Channel. Watch ships and sailboats come and go at your leisure, or wander down to the flawless yellow beaches of Dinard. The private gardens provide a direct path to the beach, but also hold treasures of their own. The stone chapel built into the hillside is a romantic, unexpected delight.
The chateau has been renovated with care, so up to 32 guests can stay in both comfort and Old World charm. This villa rental offers four stories of rooms to explore, two kitchens, and of course wide terraces for drinking in the sea breeze. You’ll not be landlocked - the sailors among you can rent motor or sail boats down at the marina in Dinard.
A 10 minute walk will bring you to Dinard's main row of restaurants and bars on Boulevard Wilson. Across the bay (or a 25 minute drive away) is St. Malo, a walled city full of museums and historic buildings. Though the region feels a world away, it's easily accessible - there's an airport in Dinard (10 km) and a ferry port in St. Malo.

What you should know…
- Though the swimming pool near the chateau is technically public, it’s not used frequently
- Boats can be easily rented in Dinard - because you're on top of a bluff, there's not a private boat launch for the villa.
- Please note that the maximum occupancy from mid-December to May is 15 guests only and bookings for up to 32 guests are not accepted.

On the garden level, in a self contained part of the chateau there is a private entrance with its own kitchen, dining room and living room, 3 double bedrooms, one children's double bedroom, 3 bathrooms, a laundry room and a small TV room.
On the ground level you will find the main living room, the large terrace, the veranda next to the dining room, a children's dining room, the main kitchen, a laundry room and a double bedroom with en suite shower.
On the first floor there are 6 double bedrooms (5 doubles and a twin) with 4 en suite bathrooms and one shared shower room.
On the second floor there are 7 doubles and 1 single room (all doubles can be converted in to twins if necessary) and 3 family bathrooms.
In the garden a large porch with automatic doors leads to a one and half hectare garden with many paths and terraces offering panoramic views. There is also a very large swimming pool just down the hill from the house (open to the public but always virtually empty) and a direct path down to the beach. In addition there is a garage and a built in charcoal and wood BBQ.
Location
About the surrounding area of Chateau Du MoulinDinard has a marina and a small fishing harbour, so it's possible to hire your own motorboat or sailing boat with ease. In addition, catamarans, windsurfing boards and kayaks can be rented just below the house.
Swimming can be enjoyed either in the sea or in a public but rather empty swimming pool in open air below the house.
Golf is recommended at Saint Briac (called the Dinard Golf Club) overlooking the sea with an international reputation. Another golf course is available at "Golf des Ormes" near Saint Malo.
Tennis courts can be found at the entrance to Dinard. It is a comfortable club with both outdoor and indoor courts. A fantastic horse club is next door to the tennis club.

But there’s more to Brittany than sun, sea and sand, and while a good chunk of our villas and chateaux in Brittany are found next to the coast the ones further inland are just as tempting. Owner Profile
How long have you owned the property?
The family bought the house ten years after its construction by the Count of Mortemart-Rochechouart that is to say from 1885 on.
Are there any interesting stories in its history?
There was no garden at that period and the house looked like a big block on the cliff. There has been many changes throughout different periods but the main ones were just after the Second World War when the allies bombed the area. The house figures on many postcards as it stands in a strategic and beautiful spot overlooking Dinard on one side and Saint Malo on the other. There is also the spectacular view of the numerous XVII century fortifications built to defend Saint Malo.
For anyone coming to stay is there anything in the surrounding area they should really do?
Don't miss the market in dinard, famous in the neighbourhood (Tuesday, Wednesday and especially Saturday). There are numerous golf courses but the most spectacular is the Dinard golf club which is in Saint Briac.
Places to visit are: Saint Malo, Mont St Michel (45mins), Cap Frehel for the pink cliffs and the landscape (45mins away).
take a boat to the island of Cezembre which you see from the house and have some fish barbecue over there in the restaurant.
Sporting activities around the house. Kayak, windsurf, sailing, jogging, swimming etc…
You can rent sailing boats or motor boats (book in advance for motor boats).
Best restaurants from Dinard are very close to the house: we have a list for you.

The Perfect Wedding Setting
The villa was splendid and had a special view. We were lucky enough to celebrate our wedding in dream conditions.

The most beautiful venue for a wedding
We came here to celebrate my cusins wedding, not only are they a beautiful couple, it suited them perfectly. The most beautiful venue for a wedding, my family had an amazing time. This place is just perfect. They rented this for there wedding and we felt at home it's just amazing this place.. My cousin is now Mrs Turner and I'm so thankful that I got to see them marry in such a beautiful place.

A great Discovery
Dinard was a discovery for all of us. We normally go to the South of France but we feel it is really too crowded. It was a relief to be in Brittany with no traffic on the road, no need to make reservations in the restaurants etc… It is truly a charming and very friendly atmosphere. You can practice almost every nautical sport just below the villa within walking distance and the swim across the bay has been a daily thrill! Certainly our best holiday for a long time!

You could easily spend several weeks at the chateau
From the moment we passed through the gates into the garden of the Chateau Moulin we entered another world; wonderful views, superb garden, well equipped for the younger generation to amuse themselves when not on the beach and the spirit of a century of happy family holidays. The beach, the town and the market all within easy walking distance and the sea and the coast all around. Most importantly, the all pervading feeling that you staying in the house of friends who had fitted it out and equipped it to suit their own needs rather than transient holidaymakers. And all the better for it.

Magical and relaxing holiday
We are so grateful that you are willing to share your beautiful house with us! There is something magical about your place, and everyone was, once again, so kind and welcoming. We all want to come back again next year.
very best wishes to you all.

Thank you so much for our wonderful holiday.
we had a couple of suggestions. There could be a few more deck chairs or outdoor furniture for the garden to sit and enjoy the views. We also really enjoyed the table tennis, snorkeling and fishing equipment but you do not mention these amenities on the website!
Don't miss out! Reserve now and get a full refund if you change your mind within 48hrs.
