Villa Duilia is in a great location for exploring much of Western Sicily. It is conveniently vlose by to Scopello (5km) for when you fancy a meal or an aperitivo as well as Castellamare del Golfo (10km) if you’d like more choice. The nearest beach is also only 3.5km away! Along the coast you can find some of western Sicily’s most glorious beaches.
There is much to explore in this region, including the fascinating city of Trapani (34km). Here you can explore the old town centre, much of which has been recently restored. Or you can take a cable car to the historic Erice, a medieval hilltop town with winding lanes, two castles and amazing views of Trapani.
If you’re keen to explore more of the island, venture further to the wine town of Marsala (79km). there are many sights to see here such as the Museo Archeologico Baglio Anselmi, the prime archaeological museum of the region with a huge array of artefacts, and the Chiesa del Purgatorio, a 16th century church with a beautiful Baroque façade.
For something a bit different, hop on a ferry at Trapani or Marsala and set sail for the enchanting Aegadian islands. Each of the five islands is full of rocky alcoves and quaint beaches where you can soak up the sun or pretty places to eat.
The capital of Sicily is the city of Palermo, and this lively city is 75km away. Palermo is an amazing city and is a melting pot of thousands of years of history and many different cultures. In Palermo you will see a mixture of stunning architecture with Byzantine and Arabic influence, sitting next to Baroque and Gothic buildings, this creates a unique and eclectic city. Palermo is the perfect place to visit if you are a history lover and there are many churches, museums, galleries and palaces to immerse yourself in.
