The Lunigiana is a beautiful mountainous region of Italy which encompasses areas of Tuscany and neighbouring Liguria. This rural landscape dotted with historic towns and castles is an idyllic place to stay for a relaxing break.
Canossilla is a recently restored villa within a little hamlet overlooking the surrounding hills and mountains. Other than a few nearby homes, you are in an entirely secluded location. The nearest amenities are a 5km drive away and the nearest town is 11km away.
This villa is made up of 3 suites on the ground floor and an apartment on the first floor. 10 guests can stay here in comfort and there is the option to connect the downstairs suites if you would prefer this. Canossilla is ideal for those travelling in a group but wishing for some privacy too. Each of the downstairs suites has a double bedroom, a bathroom and a small kitchen. Also on the ground floor there is a spacious living room where all guests can come together over a glass of local wine in the evening, and has two sofa beds for extra sleeping space.
Upstairs in the apartment there are 2 further bedrooms and also a large kitchen and dining space which can be utilised by the whole party. This light and airy room leads directly out on to the first-floor terrace, a great spot for your morning coffee with a view.
As well as the terrace, the house also has a vast garden with lawned areas and lush native planting. You are able to enjoy dramatic panoramas over the mountains and the valley below as you take a dip in the inviting private pool or maybe you would prefer to unwind on the sun loungers with a good book. As the sun sets why not make use of the barbecue and al-fresco dining area and cook up an Italian feast!
When you need to pick up some groceries or would like some fresh pastries for breakfast, then the closest village with a shop, restaurants and bakery is only 5km away. You can also discover a wealth of walking and hiking routes near to the villa or if you would prefer to see more of the landscape on horseback then riding is available just 3km away.
A little further afield there are plenty of larger villages and towns you can visit too such as Aulla which is 11km away from the villa. Aulla is a town which is positioned in between two rivers on the Via Fracigena pilgrim trail, it has a great range of shops, restaurants and bustling markets as well as museums, archaeological sites and a castle so there is lots to see and do.
There are countless charming villages and hill towns just a short drive away from the villa which you can visit, including Villafranca in Lunigiana which is 16km away and Bagnone which is 22km away. If you would like a day at the coast, then the famous beaches and villages of the breath-taking Cinque Terre are also just 35km away!
