Situated 8km from Omis and 20km from Split, Tugare is a beautiful area comprised of many small hamlets nestled between two branches of the spectacular Mosor Mountains. The location is a perfect choice for those wanting a peaceful holiday surrounded by nature, yet also some great activities, as the area also offers some fantastic sporting opportunities including climbing, hiking and bouldering.

The village itself contains a small selection of shops so you will be able to pick up your basics just down the road. However you will likely want to visit the larger town of Omis a short drive away, to access a wider range of amenities. There is also a charming stretch of coves only 6km away, stretching along the Omis Riviera, that benefit from shallow sandy beaches, ideal for families in their calm crystal clear waters and sheltered surroundings.

The old pirate town of Omis will provide a good selection of nightlife, a large shopping centre and an array of sporting activities from rafting to canyoning. The Venetian fortress that looks out over the town from the hillside and a 17th Century parish church are charming landmarks worth a visit. There are also opportunities here to arrange day trips to neighbouring Islands, the National Parks of Krka and Pritvice, and the beautiful city of Dubrovnik.

For a lovely day trip, head towards the coast, at the foot of the Mosnjica Mountains, and you’ll find the old town of Ducé, and a cluster of other villages of preserved stone houses, quant little streets, charming old squares around historic churches. All surrounded by lush vegetation and magnificent views of the Adriatic Sea and the impressive Islands that dot the horizon.

Region

The city of Split, with its magnificent historical sites, scenic coastal vistas, and a welcoming local atmosphere, is a must-visit destination for travellers in search of the perfect balance of culture, relaxation, and adventure. Nestled along the captivating Dalmatian Coast, it’s a vibrant mix of modern life and ancient history, making it a thriving hub for both locals and tourists.

The heart of Split is the historic Diocletian's Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that stands as one of the best-preserved Roman monuments in the world. Built for the Roman Emperor Diocletian in the 4th century, this massive complex now forms the nucleus of the city. Within the palace walls, you'll discover a labyrinth of narrow streets, charming squares, and historic buildings. The Peristyle, an open-air courtyard, is a central gathering place, and both the Cathedral of Saint Domnius and the Temple of Jupiter showcase remarkable examples of ancient architecture. Strolling through the ancient streets, you'll come across quaint shops, lively cafes, and local markets.

The Riva promenade is the city's vibrant waterfront hub. Lined with cafes, restaurants, and shops, it's the perfect place to enjoy a leisurely stroll, sip a coffee, or dine while overlooking the stunning Adriatic Sea. The palm-lined promenade offers a lively atmosphere day and night, with street performers and events throughout the year.

Just a short walk from the from the centre of Split is Marjan Hill, a pristine nature park that offers a peaceful retreat from the bustling city streets. The park features lush greenery, jogging trails, and stunning viewpoints overlooking the city and the sea. It's an ideal place for hiking, picnicking, or simply enjoying the natural beauty of the Mediterranean.

The Split region offers a variety of beautiful beaches. Bacvice and Ovcice are two popular choices conveniently located near the city centre. The sandy shores are perfect for sunbathing, swimming, and trying your hand at the local beach sport, picigin. Exploring further along the coast, you'll find numerous rocky coves and pebble beaches, each with their own unique charm.

For adventure seekers, Split offers a wide array of outdoor activities and water sports. From kayaking and paddle-boarding to sailing and scuba diving, there's something for everyone who wants to experience the Adriatic up close. Split is a great base for taking boat trips to the nearby islands, where you can explore underwater caves and secluded beaches.

Croatian cuisine is known for its fresh, local ingredients and Mediterranean influence. You’ll be able to savour delicious seafood, grilled meats, and traditional recipes. To experience authentic Croatian flavours, visit the local konoba (taverns) that serve traditional dishes like pasticada (a slow-cooked beef stew), and peka (baked meat and vegetables). Pair your meal with local wines and olive oils for a complete gastronomic experience.

Split is a city of remarkable beauty and historical significance. Whether you're exploring ancient streets, soaking up the sun on pristine beaches, or indulging in delectable local cuisine, Split promises an unforgettable experience. Its blend of stunning natural landscapes, ancient history, and a welcoming Mediterranean lifestyle makes it a destination that offers something for every traveller.

  • Highly recommended

We were with this family in this villa. Each room is individually supplied with air conditioning. Every morning our pool was cleaned. The landlady is very warm hearted, she has us from time to time fresh vegetables and fruit from the garden. It was just wonderfully beautiful.

  • Pure luxury

    on 03/07/2018

This holiday home is a DREAM HOUSE!
The house is brand new, has large, modern and stylish rooms with a total of 4 bathrooms and really good beds. Each bathroom with a large, excellent shower (Raindance!). Everything air conditioned and perfectly furnished. The kitchen fully equipped and with plenty of space for several people. All devices available and high quality.
The absolute hammer comes in the outdoor area. A huge pool with adjoining Jacuzzi. Ante, the master of the house, cleans it every day. The entire area around the pool with big bright tiles (see pictures). Just great. The outdoor kitchen is also very spacious, fully equipped and generously sized for 12 people. During the 2 weeks we only cooked outside and ate and enjoyed every minute. If necessary, you can also use the large TV for a public viewing. The grill is also huge and super clean, cleaned by the host. Great!
Furthermore, there are two lawns and the tennis court. During the day it was too hot for us, then we played in the evening by floodlight until midnight tennis and badminton. It does not bother anyone else.
