Region

The island of Hvar stands out as one of Croatia's most enchanting destinations - a picturesque paradise that seamlessly combines natural beauty, historical charm and a lively cultural scene. The sun-drenched island’s stunning landscapes provide a picture-perfect backdrop to a whole wealth of
unforgettable experiences.

At the heart of the island is the port town of Hvar, a historic gem known for its well-preserved architecture and timeless allure. Take a wander through the traffic-free labyrinth of narrow streets, where you can soak up the charm of the island. The central square of Hvar Town is a bustling hub surrounded by centuries-old buildings and lively cafes - it’s a popular spot to enjoy a coffee or a glass of wine from one of the many cafes and restaurants. The square is also home to the imposing St. Stephen's Cathedral, a beautiful example of Dalmatian Renaissance architecture.

Overlooking the town is the Hvar Fortress, a medieval citadel with a history dating back to the 13th century. The fortress is worthy of a visit for the epic panoramic views that stretch across the town and the Adriatic Sea. The ascent is especially rewarding it at sunset, when you can watch the town's
lights sparkle below.

Heading inland just a few kilometres from Hvar Town, the village of Velo Grablje is famous for its lavender fields. Visit during the summer and you'll be treated to the sight and scent of the vast fields in full bloom. The island is also celebrated for its vineyards and olive groves, producing some of Croatia's best wines and olive oils. Many wineries and oil mills offer tastings and tours, allowing
you to sample these local delights while learning about traditional production methods.

Just a short boat ride from the harbour of Hvar are the Pakleni Islands, a group of islets renowned for their pristine beaches, hidden coves, and emerald sea. The idyllic surroundings offer a tranquil escape from the bustle of the main island, making it a favoured day trip destination. Explore hidden
bays, discover secluded beaches, and enjoy water sports in this unspoiled paradise. The uninhabited resort of Palmižana on the island of Sveti Clement is a particular highlight - a hidden oasis known for its lush botanical gardens and crystal-clear water.

For outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers, Hvar's natural beauty provides a picturesque playground. Hvar offers numerous cycling trails for both beginners and experienced riders. The island's diverse terrain is ideal for exploring the charming villages, olive groves, and vineyards on two wheels. Or for a unique perspective of the islands scenic beauty, you can experience the Adriatic up close and paddle along the dramatic coastline in a kayak, discovering coves and sea caves.

Hvar, is a Mediterranean paradise that promises an array of unforgettable experiences. Whether you're wandering through the historic streets of Hvar Town, discovering hidden coves on the Pakleni Islands, or savouring local wines and delicacies, the island offers a blend of cultural exploration, natural beauty, and relaxation that's hard to match.

Many action-packed watersports are available including kayak tours of Hvar Town as the sun sets – beautiful! Young children will love watching the boats sail by and exploring the castle.

There is a sailing school in Stari-Grad in August, which is very popular. An excursion to Grapceva cave, Humac, full of stalactites and stalagmites is a wonder. Items from a culture from 4 BC were discovered in the cave, making it the most significant prehistoric site in the Adriatic. Slightly inland Gariful Organic Farm is fun with a range of animals and horse riding. Jelsa has so many attractions for children with the Adventure Park 5 minutes walk from Jelsa harbour and lovely beaches.

Teenagers and young adults will love celebrity spotting in the town and the wonderful bars and nightclubs when old enough.

  • Perfection. So sad to leave. Hope to be back!

    on 03/10/2023

Most wonderful stay at this beautiful villa. The location in perfect, out of the bustle with the water on your doorstep but only a short beautiful walk into Hvar centre. The villa has the most wonderful views, a relaxing vibe and is perfect for a family wanting some more space. Suzanna, the host was lovely welcoming us at the ferry with a speedboat which took us straight to be door. She baked cakes and welcomed us beautifully into the home.

    on 29/09/2023

Sensational location right on the coastline - close to Hula Hula and a 15 min walk to the harbour

  • Dream holiday in beautiful Villa close to Hvar

    on 08/06/2022

he house is about 10 min walk on the promenade outside Hvar and has a beautiful outdoor area with a great view of the sea. The house is very tastefully furnished and the kitchen is well equipped. The hostess, Zusana is a true pearl, very helpful and if something is missing, will take care of it immediately.
Next door is the Hula Hula beach club, where you can also spend a fantastic time. The house is even more valuable, since the beach club has no towels and no fresh water shower and this is available in the house.
I can highly recommend this accommodation.
