Why visit Grenada?

Grenada offers a different side of the Caribbean – quieter, greener and rich in natural beauty. Rainforest-covered mountains rise above hidden coves, waterfalls cascade through jungle valleys and spice plantations scent the warm island air. The island’s capital, St George’s, is one of the Caribbean’s most picturesque harbours, where colourful buildings climb the hillside above a horseshoe-shaped bay.

Beaches here are among the region’s finest. Grand Anse Beach stretches for two miles along the island’s southwest coast, with calm waters perfect for swimming and snorkelling. Elsewhere, smaller coves offer peaceful spots to unwind beneath swaying palms.

Food plays an important role in island culture. Known as the Spice Island, Grenada flavours its dishes with nutmeg, cinnamon and cloves grown locally. The national dish, oil down, is a comforting one-pot stew made with coconut milk, breadfruit, vegetables and salted meat. Rum punch and nutmeg ice cream are also local favourites.

Beyond the beaches, the island rewards exploration. Hiking trails lead through rainforest to waterfalls such as Annandale Falls, while snorkellers and divers can explore the famous underwater sculpture park just off the coast.
