The characterful home can comfortably accommodate up to ten guests across five beautifully kept bedrooms. On the ground floor is the elegant entertaining space which comprises of an inviting living room with cosy open fireplace, a spacious dining room and a fully-equipped kitchen which comes complete with all the tools a budding chef could possibly need! Upstairs on the first floor are the bedrooms, a master room which boasts its very own en-suite bathroom, as well as a further two doubles and two twin rooms, each of these boast fireplaces and countryside views. One of the doubles and one of the twins share the use of a newly-installed shower room, while the remaining rooms share a large family bathroom.

Old Queens Manor's real magic can be found outside, the beautifully-manicured gardens are completely private, and guests will instantly feel as though they are in total tranquillity. The children are bound to enjoy splashing around in the private swimming pool, while the adults may prefer to relax pool side with a good book or enjoy some healthy competition on the private tennis court!

There is plenty for guests to see, do and explore in the local area, the attractions of the city of Bath are only an hour drive away. Bath is famous for its Roman baths which attract large numbers of tourists from far and wide. The vibrant city of Bristol is also only half an hour away by car, an exciting city with a huge selection of restaurants, shops and an energetic night life.

  • A Perfect Christmas!

    Created on 03/01/2023

We spent an enjoyable week over Christmas at the Old Queens Manor. The property is really spacious and lovely and warm, which we really appreciated as it was a cold and rainy week. It has beautiful fireplaces and we enjoyed lovely log fires. The kitchen is really well equipped, we had everything we needed, even for a more complicated Christmas meal. The owners left good information about everything in the house and also some generous welcome goodies. They got in touch to make sure everything was okay and was always helpful when we had a questions about something.

  • Ideal for a relaxing family holiday

    Posted by Joanna on 15/08/2022

We spent one of the hottest weeks of the year here, and it wasn't just the weather making us feel like we were abroad - the outdoor pool surrounded by an orchard, and the tennis court we made good use of helped too. This is an old, beautiful house, very spacious, so with eight of us we never felt cramped. We had three young children who loved the outdoor space and activities, and didn't say they were bored once. They especially liked the swing in the garden, and the table tennis in the garage was a big hit. We felt like we didn't really need to leave at all, but did decide to have a day in Bath which is a 45 minute drive away, and had a nice boat trip once we were there, and we also checked out Castle Combe, a really pretty old village (with an amazing tea and cake shop!). We also explored the local village near the house, which has a nice pub and a village shop where you can have tea and cake on the tables outside. They only had newspapers pre-ordered and reserved which we looked at longingly from afar, if it's something you like having, it might be worth organising this ahead of your stay. There's also a lovely Victorian church opposite the house, it's on a hill with amazing views of the whole area.

The owner, Jane, was very helpful before our stay and didn't mind me texting her lots of questions about what the house has. And it has pretty much everything you could need. There are lots of things to make your stay even more enjoyable, like towels hanging up for the pool, and lots of ready-made ice cubes. There's a basket of tennis rackets and balls you can take down to the court each day (all adult-sized, so we are glad we took a couple of kids ones), and blankets which the kids enjoyed sitting on for lunchtime picnics. Jane put up an air bed for one of the children in one of the twin rooms so they could all be together, it was really good quality and didn't need inflating again all week.

There's a driveway for several cars, and we felt very safe and secluded all week. Our only visitors were the lovely gardener and handyman, and the multitude of wildlife which included squirrels, birds, and some adorable little bats whose arrival each evening let us know the light would be going soon and we'd have to move indoors. It was a real highlight for us seeing the last supermoon of the year rise above the garden like a giant orange ball, and if you like star-gazing, the clear dark skies (you don't get in cities) are great for this. The kids liked having film nights, and the TV room has several channels, including Disney+ and Apple TV (just log in with your account). There are also many books and board games, and even pens and paper you might need for games, plus a big chess set in one of the two living rooms.

What was great for us as a family was having two big fridges and freezers. We had an Ocado delivery (the van backed right up to the door) and just wanted everything we'd need to self cater for a week, including doing some cooking on the aga. There are three showers and four loos so it never felt like you were waiting for one. It was very handy for post-swimming showers to be able to shower all the kids at the same time.

This is a fantastic house for families or groups of friends who just want to relax in a big space of your own, in the middle of beautiful and quiet countryside. It's a brilliant space for the warmer months to make good use of the pool and garden, but when we saw the shed filled with cut-up logs for the beautiful old fireplaces we were thinking it would also make a wonderfully cosy winter break too.

  • We would love to return again and again!

Fabulous place, a home away from home.
Old Queen’s Manor is a beautiful home, stylish & sympathetically decorated with a plethora of excellent reads in the bookcase, views to die for & everything you could imagine you would need under one roof.
The pool was immaculately clean & a pleasant temperature with views across the olive orchards to the house we could have been in the South of France it was just beautiful
The tennis courts are very well kept also & this is the first house I have stayed where racquets & balls are provided (along with croquet, table tennis & cricket) the children couldn’t have been happier.
The kitchen is dreamy with a beautiful Aga & every pot, pan & equipment you could need for your stay.
We would highly recommend & would love to return again & again.
The house is situated close to a beautiful quaint village with a pub serving high quality food & great beers on tap
A heavenly week one we shall not forget x

Its been a real pleasure and privilege to spend some time at The Old Queens Manor. We have had a wonderful family holiday here. I'm sure you must have had many happy times with your family

  • Everyone enjoyed the holiday!

    Posted by Kim on 03/08/2022

We had a great week staying at the Old Queens Manor- to spend time with our family (ages ranged from 3 months to late 60s).
The grounds were amazing and everyone enjoyed swimming, playing tennis exploring the gardens, and playing croquet. My 2-year-old loved going around smelling the lavender that surrounds the tennis court.
We felt very at home in the Manor, the bedrooms are large and there was plenty of space for everyone to relax separately in the living and tv room.
It was great to have pubs within walking distance. We went to the Anchor Inn in the village and the White Hart in a neighboring village (the scenic route across fields to the White Hart meant we encountered some very inquisitive cows,)We took a nice walk down to the river Severn from the house one morning and had another morning out at the Old Down estate to see the farm animals which the children loved. The rest of the time we just enjoyed the house and the grounds.
There is a big Tesco and Aldi a short ten-minute drive away in Thornbury and also a shop in the village for any extras.
    Everyone enjoyed the holiday.

  • Perfect venue!

The Old Queen’s Manor was the perfect venue for a relaxing weekend with our extended family. All ages enjoyed the gorgeous, very well-equipped house and gardens, and the many activities on offer. We swam, played board games, tennis, croquet, table tennis... Everyone loved it and the owner couldn’t have been more helpful. Highly recommended.

'We booked Jane's lovely house for a group getaway from the cities. The house was absolutely sublime and came with all the space and games you could ask for. The host was very helpful and made sure we had everything we needed for our stay. I would highly recommend Jane's place for a wonderful stay.

  • Perfect Half Term Getaway

Posted by Carlie G. on 22/10/2021

What a great house for a holiday, everyone had something they loved, I was mooning about with the Jane Austen romance of staying in a large Victorian rectory, my husband was cooking up a storm on the Aga, our children and their cousins were racing round the garden having designed an Olympic course with swimming, tennis, laps round the orchard, table tennis and shotput with the croquet balls (Sorry!) Gentle walks to the river with the aged rellies and don’t forget lunch and a pint at the Anchor on the walk home. A super place to stay. Thank you Jane for sharing your treasure and helping us feel at home.

  • Warm and welcoming

    Posted by Jodie on 05/10/2021

Our second family reunion at this warm and welcoming property in an idyllic setting. Three days of wind and rain did not deter us from having fun in the warm swimming pool! We lit a fire (thank you) played games, cooked, ate, walked and browsed the collections of books and films. There is a beautiful dining room,a farmhouse style kitchen (with everything you could possibly need) a playroom and a lounge, all have large windows to the neatly kept grounds. Here, you are provided with ample towels, tennis balls, hot water, amusement and comfort, this property is in no way stuffy. The owners really want you to be able to enjoy your stay. Many thanks.

  • Highly recommended

Posted by Nicky K. on 17/09/2021

The Old Queens Manor exceeded our expectations. The house is both comfortable and stylish - light and space are a feature - the rooms are peaceful and wonderfully decorated.
The grounds are so lovely, with immaculate (but not forbidding) gardens, and offer so much in the way of activities. Some of my party said they had no need to leave the property all week - others had brief forays to nearby castles/ruins.
The swimming pool adds another dimension, but croquet, tennis, table tennis were also a big hit. Everyone loved it and we had a magical week.
I have rented many properties over the years but this was by far the best - highly recommended.

We had a super time thank you for a wonderful stay. This is what my daughter says 'I love the swimming pool and have been practicing my lengths and building up my strength I enjoyed my twin bedroom to myself. I loved playing tennis with my family and swinging on the swing.'

  • Thanks for everything

We have just had a week staying in the beautiful Old Queens Manor which was absolutely perfect! We were a party of 10 ranging in age from a toddler to middle aged & we all had a fantastic family holiday! Jane was brilliant at explaining everything from the aga to the swimming pool ( the pool is fabulous especially at around 6am) & we would thoroughly recommend to family & friends! I’m absolutely sure that we will be back soon ( including Barney the cockapoo!)

10 of us stayed for a week in this beautiful former Rectory in the lovely village of Oldbury- On- Severn.
I fell in love with the house the minute we drove through the gates. The house had plenty of room for us all with all the bedrooms large and bright, we had some great evening meals in the big dining room the into the comfortable sitting room. But the best part is the fabulous garden, absolutely beautiful and with the warm swimming pool and tennis court what more could you want from a holiday home? Only maybe a 2-week stay. The owner was always quick to respond and gave us all the information we needed to settle in. We will definitely be returning,

'We had a wonderful time in your beautiful home. Thank you for letting us stay. It was the perfect venue for the family to celebrate my mother's 8oth birthday. We sat in the beautiful garden and the children were in and out of the pool all weekend

  • Exceptional stay!

Every corner of The Old Queens Manor oozes charm and sophistication. The exceptional attention to details [fresh pressed bed lines, bright white soft towels and very clean carpets, among others] made by the host is equally as impressive. The house, whilst substantial in its grandeur, is delightfully intimate. Communal areas such as the kitchen [AGA included!], formal lounge and dining room create the perfect familial space, yet the expanse of beautifully manicured grounds and facilities [including the garden, the swimming pool and the tennis court] give a sense of truly impressive scale.

  • You won’t be disappointed

Posted by Judith W. on 29/06/2021

Our mixed age range group all enjoyed this welcoming, well-equipped and spacious house and gardens, which were beautifully maintained. With its variety of rooms and spaces , it’s ideal both for gathering together –a lovely, large family kitchen for example – or for finding a quiet space in or out of doors for chilling out. Very popular were the heated pool and tennis court and the unbroken views across the surrounding countryside to the Severn estuary are magical after London.
I loved the house’s mix of tradition -stone floors, cobbled courtyard, pantry - with the modern, airy interior spaces and comfortable rooms. We were only six, but the maximum ten would be accommodated easily.
For dog owners (or not) there are is a wide choice of walks and Wales is a 30 minute ride away. We also recommend the friendly local community shop, who will save your daily papers and the local pub, the Anchor just down the road.
The house and gardens are a perfect English countryside venue for family and group gatherings. The owner is helpful but never intrusive.
I’ve stayed in many rental houses and villas. This one really does match its description and you won’t be disappointed.

  • Brilliant!

My family and I spent 5 amazing days at Old Queens Manor.
The house is lovely and easily accommodated the ten of us, set in a peaceful location surrounded by beautiful country views, it was the perfect place for us to relax as a family and felt like a home away from home.

The pool, tennis court and other amenities only add to the properties charm. Jane is an incredible host, attentive and always available if you have a question or problem.
By the end of our trip, we had already agreed to book Old Queens Manor again the following year.

  • Wonderful Stay

We spent the most idyllic week at a The Old Queen Manor this June. Glorious days on the beautiful lawns, playing tennis or down by the pool, and wonderful evenings on the terrace enjoying barbecues while the scent of roses and herbs drifted across the courtyard. The house is beautiful and there was plenty of room for two families with small children. The nearby village is also great with a five-minute walk to a decent pub (excellent burgers and a good garden) and a charming village shop. We loved our stay and would absolutely go back in the future.

  • Stunning views

We had a lovely stay at The Old Queens Manor. The house is very big and pleasant and suited our party of seven with room to spare. There is no doubt the garden with its tennis court and pool was the star attraction for our family. It is hard to imagine a more restful swimming experience right at the end of the long and beautiful garden with only stunning views of the Gloucestershire countryside anywhere in sight. We went to the local pub and out into Bristol for a morning but other than that we didn't want to leave the house We would certainly recommend a stay here to other families and groups.

  • Wonderful atmosphere

We had a great time at your house! We felt at home, wonderful atmosphere!!! The kitchen is the heart of the house, with a nice AGA stove warming us up! We baked a cake and a delicious chicken pie! Every room of the house is special and every window has a spectacular view! The bedrooms are large and comfortable. And although we had to share bathrooms they worked very well. The shower pressure on the biggest one is better than on the smaller. The top point of the property is the garden!!! We had a barbecue in it! And it has an amazing tennis court and heated pool which we all enjoyed very much. We have to thank our host who made every effort to guide us through the house and surrounding area, she was always there to answer every question and was so welcoming! We cant wait to go back.

  • Highly recommend!

Highly recommend! We had a beautiful stay at The Old Queens Manor. The outdoor space is amazing- beautiful gardens, tennis court heated swimming pool and also table tennis and football. Plenty to do on a sunny or even rainy day without even leaving! The house inside is very spacious with beautiful views from the bedrooms. Lots of options for the evening-huge dining room, TV room, drawing room...We went at the start of opening so the local restaurants, pubs, and activities weren't open but still had a perfect stay and loved the local walks-especially the walk down to the sailing club and the Severn. A fantastic place to come with children or with friends. We hope to be back soon.

Lovely house on breathtaking grounds in a quaint village which is great for kids and friends alike. There’s so much to do and take in even if the weather isn’t on your side. There are lots of walks you can go on from the house and a lovely local pub just a stone’s throw away but with a tennis court, heated swimming pool and beautiful gardens, you can just as easily stay put for your entire stay. We were made to feel very welcome and at home by the host Jane who was very accommodating throughout. We can’t wait to go back and couldn’t recommend it enough.

Another wonderful break at Old Queens Manor. Such a special place. We always feel instantly at home and hardly feel we need to leave the grounds as the pool and tennis court keep us all entertained. Jane is an incredibly thoughtful and helpful host.

  • We can't wait to visit again!

    Posted by Sofie on 05/11/2020

We were lucky to book The Old Queens Manor at the last minute for quite the most gorgeous half term week. The house is spectacular, the photos simply do not do it justice. When we arrived, the children raced through the house from room to room, squealing with excitement.

There was plenty of space for all of us. The feel of the property is so warm and welcoming which was a little surprising as older large properties can feel austere, but the Old Queens Manor oozed charm, comfort and, importantly in a trip for the ‘discerning’ holidaymaker, real quality.

The setting was blissful and incredibly relaxing. After a difficult year in London, spent mostly cooped up at home, it was just the tonic our family needed. Surrounded by lush green and rolling hills, the views from every elegant sash window of the expansive gardens felt like looking into a painting.

The children had a blast in the swimming pool, (which Jane, the owner, had kindly gone to the trouble of having cleaned and heated just for our arrival) and, although a little fresh in the late October air, the water was heated to a tropical 28 degrees.

We also made use of the tennis court, which is in perfect condition and loved the enormous gardens. The children took great joy in picking up the most whopping red apples from the orchard every day and we made crumbles, compote and apple pie on the Aga (which was a revelation for me to cook on and has gone on my ‘must have’ list for my new kitchen!). My daughter would linger at the windows in the hope of spotting a pheasant, which she happily did on many occasions.

I would love to tell you about the local attractions etc but, other than strolling to the pub in the village for dinner one evening, we didn’t leave the house at all, we were so happy to be there.

We were so sad to leave the The Old Queens Manor at the end of our stay, the children made us promise we will return next year.

The holiday was spectacular in the grey autumn drizzle, I can only imagine how divine it must be in the sunshine!

Huge thanks to Jane, who was such a generous host. I started to read one of her books during the week and I am hooked! She kindly gifted me the book when I left, which was so sweet of her. Nothing was too much trouble, she even called the local leisure centre to secure us the last pair of arm bands when we realised we had forgotten to pack our three year olds swimming aids. This level of attention helped our holiday to run flawlessly. We can’t wait to visit this gem of a property again and would highly recommend it to others.

  • Idyllic

    Posted by Jodie on 25/09/2020

Our stay at The Old Queen’s Manor in September was utterly idyllic. We hoped to spend time together as a family, in peaceful surroundings, enjoying the simplicity of each other’s company, and that indeed we did!

The house is a completely private, beautiful, and welcoming family home, filled with character. We were fascinated by the old pantry, the beautiful fireplaces and other period features. We affectionately referred to it as “the Dream House” for the duration of our stay! We were never short of things to do indoors, enjoying reading and board games by the open fire, the vast array of films on offer (including VHS which fascinated the young children in our party), and candlelit dinners.

The grounds were wonderful, with an array apple and other fruit trees. We enjoyed daily tennis sessions and croquet too. The pool was glorious! A super treat for a chilly weekend in September, to be able to dip into an outdoor pool as warm as a bath!

Our host, Jane, could not have been more attentive, and we felt everything possible had been done to ensure we were safe in these difficult times. We are already planning our return

  • We would love to come back as we loved it so much

Beautiful holiday home and facilities. Stunning location. So much to do I did not use my car at all. We spent almost two weeks playing tennis, swimming and walking in the local area. Enjoyed relaxing in the evening in the lovely sitting room Walked to the community shop every day and enjoyed their delicious cakes All our family loved it. Best holiday ever. We will definitely come again.

  • A wonderful place to unwind

    Posted by Catherine on 09/09/2020

A gorgeous home, spacious and yet cosy at the same time, with wonderful grounds. The focus point for us was the snug kitchen with the Aga where we gathered for a family breakfast every day. Two lovely living rooms meant the children could have their own space - the one with the games, TV and DVDs! - whilst the adults had a relaxed glass of wine in the other one. I usually go into a holiday home and feel the need to clean the cutlery drawer and wipe round the bathrooms, but everything was spotlessly clean. Lots of soft towels provided, and immaculate bedrooms with good wardrobe/drawer space, and some with their own fireplace. Plenty of information on local walks and things to do in the area, but we headed to The Anchor, a delightful local pub a 5 minute walk down a country lane. Jane was extremely helpful and responded to any questions we had immediately. The grounds need to be seen to be believed! An immaculate tennis court, a lovely large heated pool, an orchard, veggie patch, herb garden, and a huge area of grass for croquet and boules (both provided).

It is a wonderful place to unwind and we wouldn't hesitate in recommending it!

  • Perfect choice

    Posted by Jenny on 24/08/2020

Our holiday at The Old Queens Manor was the perfect choice for us this year. We really appreciated the safety cover on the pool as the children spent a lot of time exploring the orchard and kitchen garden and so we were able to relax. No need to leave the grounds really although we did once stroll over to the Anchor for a beer.

  • Great house, fantastic grounds, tennis court, lovely pool, good for groups/families.

    Posted by Catherine on 12/08/2020

We stayed as a group of 8 (4 adults and 4 children) and had a fabulous time after weeks apart in lockdown. As this house is set in large grounds, it is perfect for children to play tennis, swim, sit on the swing or simply roam within your view safely whilst you enjoy sitting outside with a cup or tea or something stronger. It is a very relaxing setting with undulating Gloucestershire hills and its own orchard. The house itself is an old rectory and is charming inside with the character features of the period-beautiful architecture, fireplaces, an Aga, servants' bells and so on. The garden is beautifully kept and has an excellent herb selection-the basil was bonus.

The Anchor Pub is a stone's throw away and you can eat outside (no bookings though so get there early); opposite the pub, the village shop is well stocked with all sorts of daily goods and you need not travel far for anything. The local church is beautiful and at night, there really are glow worms but you have to turn left from the gate to find them in the long grass. We chatted to local residents in the village who were delightful, many of them selling top quality local fruit and vegetables.

There are lots of walks on the doorstep and I wished we had brought our bikes as there are some good places to explore. There is table football and ping pong in the storage buildings although we didn't use them as there was a lot of tennis, swimming and hide and seek. The tennis court is in excellent condition. The dining room is atmospheric and close to the kitchen so this is great for bringing everyone together every evening -we had some good fun in there. There is ample parking for cars.

We have really fond memories of our visit and would recommend this property for extended family groups. There are also lots of baby things which we didn't need (high chairs etc) so little ones would be well catered for.

  • We hope to come back soon!

We loved our week at the old Queen’s Manor. The house is stunning: elegant, modern and a cosy family vibe, there is plenty of space to spread out comfortably. We loved the different rooms, the views onto the gardens and the amazing kitchen. We had never used an Aga before but host Jane had explained in detail how to use it and it was so easy and so much fun to discovered cooking this way.
The bedrooms are peaceful and quiet and having several bathrooms was also great.
The garden is incredible: so many parts to explore and the garden is well maintained. We had high expectations for the pool and we absolutely loved it. The pool was heated just right and it was wonderful to have a swim in every weather condition.
The weather during our stay went from cold and wet to warm and sunny, and we found the property perfectly suited for all weather. When it rained, we really enjoyed reading and staying indoors in the many family rooms and enjoyed the views onto the beautiful nature.
We travelled here at the end of the Covid Pandemic and many adjustments had been made for our safety which was much appreciated.

  • We had a wonderful week at Old Queen's Manor.

The owner Jane welcomed us with cake and fresh milk, and contacted us to check all was well during the week. The setting is glorious, very peaceful with beautiful views and the house itself is comfortable and well appointed, with everything you might want supplied, from towels and shower gel to tennis raquets and a croquet set. Although the house and gardens are large it feels very homely. We loved the Aga and the big kitchen table. The boot room is perfect for coming in from the pool, garden or walks, especially for dealing with wet feet and dirty shoes. The gardens are fabulous, perfect for games or just chilling and the pool provided endless fun for the children and adults alike. There are lovely walks all around (maps provided) and good food can be found at the friendly local pubs. Thornbury is a thriving small town with plenty of coffee shops and places to eat as well as supermarkets. The village community shop in Oldbury, five minutes walk away, is a real gem and great for essentials as well as delicioius local ice cream or coffee and home made cake. All in all this is a great house for a family get-together, we loved it. We came hope tired but happy after our stay in a special place.
PS We hope we will be able to come again some time...

I felt I had to write to you to express my thanks to you for the week my family and friends spent at the Old Queens Manor from the 2nd of August 2019.

Although the weather could have been better it didn't spoil our stay at your lovely house.

The house was very spacious but at the same time very homely and our group of eight enjoyed every aspect of the house. We certainly made use of all the facilities, my wife and daughter and myself were in the heated outdoor swimming pool every morning at 7.30 am and the rest of the family joined us a bit later. We had several tennis and croquet competitions, followed by lovely B.B.Q's and several drinks during the warm night air.

A must for most visitors who like a walk is a walk to the White Hart Pub in Littleton, you start the journey through a public walk way through someone's front garden then through an orchard and into various fields and the views of the estuary and Severn bridge are fabulous. Once at the White Hart there is a great selection of food and drinks. For those that like a short walk the Anchor Pub is 5 minutes away and is equally as good.

One of our family had made the trip to our get together from Australia and had seen nothing like the Manor and scenery before and took hundreds of photo's to show when he got home.

We had a truly wonderful stay at Old Queens Manor. The house is so beautiful, with heaps of space and the garden was a huge hit with our children (the pool being a delightful added bonus). Our daughter enjoyed a morning routine of picking raspberries from the garden kitchen and inspecting the grounds.
Just a short walk away is a church with a breathtaking view and an ideal pub which does very good food. We have recommended this house to all our family and friends. We'll definitely be back in the future.

We had a magical week in the Old Queen's Manor! The house was a perfect fit for our extended family and the glorious weather meant we enjoyed full use of the pool, tennis court and croquet lawn! The house itself was completely charming and the children absolutely loved all the space it provided as well as the games room (for family table tennis tournaments!) and the gorgeous garden from which they were able to pick fresh herbs and fruit. We had a fabulous time exploring the local area including the Cotswolds, Bristol and Tintern Abbey in Wales! It was a special week - we really didn't want it to end.

The Old Queens Manor is the kind of place you want to keep secret – and also a place you want all your friends and family to enjoy as much as you have. This was the second time we’ve stayed and we had another perfect week. The weather wasn’t all good but it didn’t matter; this lovely house is spacious, elegant and so, so comfortable. A special mention for the Aga and the big sociable kitchen table! On warm days we swam in the pool and enjoyed the beautiful gardens. If you can bear to leave the Manor, there are idyllic walks right from the front door. Other reviewers have also said how wonderfully welcoming the owner, Jane, is and how much attention has been given to providing everything one needs to feel completely at home. This is a very special house. We’ll definitely return! Highly recommended.

A beautifully appointed Victorian brick rectory, set in spacious, well kept garden. Wide skies, wonderful vistas! Inside the house is stunning, flag stone floors, a traditional kitchen, comfortable lounges, grand dining room, plenty of room for conviviality or finding a quiet corner! Upstairs, everything is cosy and grand at the same time: beds comfortable, big windows for views and quiet at night.
The garden boasts a tennis court, an orchard, and beyond that a heated swimming pool, a real joy to swim looking out to the fields and the open sky. Thoroughly recommended.

A perfect location for family celebration of 3 generations aged 2 - 73 for a 40th birthday! Very friendly and helpful owners who helped to make our stay happy and relaxed. The grandchildren adored the large garden, and especially a slightly belated Easter egg hunt! Plenty of room inside the house for the different generations to spread out when needed! Great to have the AGA too and memorable meals were produced and enjoyed! We hope we may return one day!

  • Peace and space with enough to do for everyone

We stayed with our young adult sons who loved the tennis court. They managed to play even in-between rain showers. The views and sense of space both inside and outside the property made for an especially relaxing stay. The kitchen is very well equipped and we hosted a Sunday lunch in the lovely dining room with ease and making good use of the Aga. We made use of the excellent DVD collection and the games cupboard. We had taken our own books but spotted many good reads in the house.
Locally the walks and the pubs were excellent. Although it was very muddy the boot room and utility by the back door meant that we could keep the rest of the house clean. Our small dog got used to going straight to the sink for a rinse.
We can imagine that in the summer the pool would add even more delight to any holiday in this wonderful house.

  • Such a beautiful property!

We descended on the Old Queens Manor for a long weekend in October to celebrate my Mother-In-Law's 60th Birthday. There were 10 adults and two toddlers. It took us a while to find somewhere suitable as we wanted somewhere that was special and also big enough for us all to enjoy, and boy did the Old Queens Manor deliver. The house and it's grounds are stunning!!
Starting with the house, it has everything you could wish for to make your stay comfortable. It was beautifully maintained and fully equipped. You can tell it is a house that was/is very much loved as it holds a lot of charm whilst also feeling modern at the same time. For such a big house it was surprisingly cosy and I think we all could've quite happily lived there!
The grounds were beautiful and every bit was utilised. We had tennis and table tennis matches going on between the adults and the toddlers loved running around the expansive gardens seeing what treasures they could find.
Whilst staying at the rectory we went for a looped walk direct from the house out to the Severn and back. A nice little walk with a pub stop in the middle (well it'd be rude not to!) We also went for Sunday lunch at The Anchor in the village which was excellent. Decent sized portions too!
Jane, the owner, is superb and my only regret is that I didn't get to meet her in the end to say hello personally. Great communication throughout the whole booking process and she really went the extra mile to make sure that you were enjoying your stay and had everything you needed.

We had a wonderful time making full use of the lovely house, extensive grounds, swimming pool and tennis court. Everything we needed was provided and Jane was very helpful particularly in answering our many questions. It was such a happy celebration in a perfect setting that the family would love to do it again! We would have no hesitation in recommending the house

  • Wonderful house and gardens in a quiet location

booked The Rectory to celebtate special birthdays with family and friends and a wonderful time was had by all. It is a a large house but with a homely feel about it and we loved the home cooked family meals in the kitchen. We did spend most time in the beautiful gardens playing tennis til dusk swimming and a couple of BBQs and Table tennis when it got dark! The four year old loved running around and playing on the swing and said it was perfect! The only thing I would have added was a lounger by the pool for the sunny days.
The owner Jane is most helpful and I would certainly recommend for a mixed age group holiday.

We spent a family birthday weekend here and it was wonderful. The house has plenty of space, is beautifully maintained and lovely in every way. The vast garden is great not only for children but adults too. The swimming pool is a good size and was always at a very pleasing temperature. The tennis court is another great feature and was almost as well used by us as the pool. The Anchor pub is just a short walk. It has a good beer garden and serves reasonable food. Well worth a visit.

  • A perfect family holiday!

Posted by Sue T on 01/09/2016

We stayed at Old Queen's Manor in early August 2016. It was a family holiday where three generations were able to meet up and spend a week together. As we are spread around the country this rarely happens.
Jane was there to greet us and gave us some key information about the property and some 'house rules'. This was all delivered in a gentle, friendly manner and was very helpful - particularly the information on how to use the Aga since most of us had never cooked on an Aga before.
The facilities were superb and we made use of all that was on offer: pool, tennis courts, croquet, swing, table tennis etc. We were blessed with glorious weather for most of the week. We also took advantage of the recommended 'in house' catering one evening which made for a relaxing evening for all the family.
All in all this was a fantastic holiday destination. A true family holiday.

Lots of kitchen and dining space and ample entertainment areas from the quiet library to the smart drawing room and noisy TV room all with roaring fires and lots of logs courtesy of the owner who was a delightful host. What a history.
The grounds and surrounding areas are attractive.

    We will go back.

  • Ultimate relaxation and comfort!

We stayed at the Old Queen's Manor House with our extended family, ages ranging from 9 to 76. It was a wonderful and beautifully provisioned base, and, to be honest we had very little reason to leave the premises, with the tennis court, swimming pool, croquet etc all in the garden and on tap. Lots of relaxing meals in the lovely gardens and the kids spent most of the time outside having a great time.
Would definitely recommend it for a relaxing family break!

  • A truly special family retreat!

    Created on 29/08/2013

Having never stayed here before nor knew anyone who had, we took a risk by committing to a 9-night stay after reading the property description online. We wanted a countryside family retreat where we could truly relax and slow down to enjoy some exclusive time with each other. Choosing to stay at The Old Rectory proved to be the best decision we made! The house is full of old charm and character, set in beautiful expansive grounds, complete with a tennis court and heated pool. Our 3 kids (aged 15, 13 & 10) and their cousins (18, 16 & 11) had plenty to do and although nearby attractions beckoned, they often preferred to stay in to play tennis/ croquet / swim and simply enjoy the property together. Jane was absolutely wonderful and ensured we had everything we needed throughout our stay. Having traveled so far (from Singapore) and unfamiliar with the area, we were very grateful for such a caring and gracious host!
We hope to return some time soon!
