When to visit Dubai?

There are many cultural events that take place in Dubai during the calendar year.

Dubai Food Festival is a culinary extravaganza typically occurring in February. This event celebrates the city’s gastronomic scene with food tastings, celebrity chef appearances, and food-related activities. Also held in February, the Dubai Jazz Festival features international and local jazz, pop, and rock artists, making it a must-attend event for music aficionados.

In July and August, Dubai Summer Surprises is a family-oriented festival with incredible sales, entertainment, and activities, designed to beat the summer heat.

  • It’s essential to be respectful of local customs and dress modestly in public areas, particularly when visiting malls, religious sites, and government buildings. Women should cover their shoulders, and both men and women should avoid wearing clothing that is too revealing.

  • Dubai experiences extreme heat during the summer months, with temperatures often exceeding 40°C (104°F). If you’re not comfortable with high temperatures, it’s best to visit during the cooler months from November to April.

Dubai travel: Getting there and around

There are direct flights to Dubai (DXB) from many UK airports – London Heathrow and Gatwick, Manchester, Birmingham and Glasgow – and the flight time is roughly 6-7 hours.

By car

Renting a car is a popular option in Dubai. The road infrastructure is excellent, and driving is relatively easy. Make sure you have an international driver’s license or a valid UAE driver’s license if you plan to drive. Keep in mind that traffic can be heavy, and parking in certain areas can be challenging.

By public transport

Dubai has an extensive and modern public transportation system, including buses, the Dubai Metro, and the Dubai Tram. The Dubai Metro is a fast and convenient way to explore the city. It’s clean, safe, and cost-effective. Pick up a Nol Card – a convenient way to pay for public transportation that can be used on buses, trams and the metro.

By taxi

Taxis are readily available in Seville and can be hailed on the street or found at taxi ranks. They are generally safe and reliable. Make sure the taxi’s meter is running, or agree on a fare before starting your journey. Taxis are especially useful when travelling with luggage or if you want a more direct mode of transportation.

By bicycle

Dubai is known for being a pretty car-centric city, it is becoming more accommodating to cyclists. Bike rentals are available in some places, and you can explore areas like the Dubai Marina or the Palm Jumeirah on two wheels.

By foot

Walking is a great way to explore certain areas of Dubai, such as the Dubai Marina, JBR Walk, and some parts of the older districts like Deira. Be mindful of the weather; Dubai can be scorching hot in the summer, so walking may be more comfortable during the cooler months.
