Four-bedroomed Villa Krystal is an ideal getaway for families, with a large pool and extensive gardens set against the backdrop of a rugged mountain in Dalyan on the southwest coast of Turkey. From the outside, it looks like a traditional Mediterranean villa with terracotta tile roofs and whitewashed walls, yet within, it's filled with bright contemporary artwork and modern facilities.
Once listed as one of the sexiest villas, perhaps the main stand-out feature of this luxury villa is its extensive grounds – 5,300 square metres – elegantly surrounding the circular-shaped swimming pool and dotted with beautiful potted plants, trees and greenery. There are plenty of soft grassy spots for children to play with and several cushioned chairs and loungers for picking your prime spot in the sun or relaxing in the cooling shade.
Inside, light abounds: from the large glass windows and doors to the natural-coloured furnishings, unique art pieces and statement features. There's air conditioning throughout, and the villa has been carefully and cleverly designed to catch the natural breeze to cool the house naturally. Open the windows at both ends of the villa, and you'll be amazed at how quickly it cools down.
All four bedrooms are equally seductive, stylish and serene, with en-suite bathrooms and thoughtful home-from-home touches like mirrors and dressers. Off the master bedroom on the mezzanine floor is a balcony with a wooden table and chairs for enjoying the serene vistas. There's also an open-plan lounge and fully-equipped kitchen on the ground floor, alongside a separate toilet. Relax after a day exploring the inviting sofas or turn on the TV and DVD player for entertainment evenings in.
Outside, there's a shaded sun terrace with a seating area for dining al fresco, alongside an outside kitchen, shower room and toilet for your utmost convenience. If you'd like to explore the local area, Villa Krystal is about 3.4km from the centre of Dalyan (a short 10-minute drive). The ancient ruins of Caunos, and the river that takes you to the sandy Iztuzu beach. Dalyan's many restaurants serve local delicacies as well as international cuisine.

Dalyan
Turkey is an eclectic mix of dramatic scenery, amazing food and a deep history. A visit to Turkey almost always inspires comment about the hospitality, maybe because the Turkish people believe a visitor is a gift from God. A trip to Turkey will almost definitely inspire you to return. You’ll be following in the footsteps of many a famous person from ancient history.
The South West coast of Turkey offers the perfect climate for your holiday, boasting over 280 dry days a year and an average June temperature of 28C in Dalyan, with sea temperatures of 23 degrees Celsius.
The Carian’s once ruled this coast and there are lots of signs of their existence, such as rock tombs and the ancient riverside city of Caunos that sits opposite Dalyan. An area surrounded by pine trees, which are believed by locals to clean the air and increase the oxygen levels. The area is favoured by beekeepers for honeymaking and you will see many of the traditional blue beehives, and a few bees, in the area.
Modern Dalyan is a small resort on the river’s edge. Tourists enjoy the small wooden boat trips chugging along to the Iztuzu beach, maybe stopping at one of the sulphur mud baths, for a somewhat rudimentary beauty treatment and some one-off photos for the holiday album. The river has a great view of the rock tombs and has much wildlife along the reedbeds. The Istuzu beach is where the endangered loggerhead turtles come to lay their eggs. The beach caught international interest in the 80’s when David Bellamy and fellow environmentalist stopped a hotel development. Today it’s a conservation area and at the far end of the beach, there is a turtle rescue centre you can visit.
Dalyan has lots of restaurants, bars and a selection of gift shops. Dalyan has a local market on a Saturday, which has an amazing selection of fruit and vegetables. You should take the opportunity to enjoy breakfast at the water’s edge in nearby Gokbel. Slightly further out is the village of Beyobasi, where you can enjoy a trout meal in a restaurant cooled by the fast running waters, just off of the main Dalaman-Akyaka road.
The Koycegiz lake is at the other end of the river. The small town of Koyceyiz is perched on the side of the lake. The small bazaar gives the idea Koycegiz was once more important than Dalyan, thus probably the best day to visit is Monday when the weekly market is in town. Try one of the restaurants on the edge of the lake for lunch. If you’ve driven, don’t forget to stop at one of the fruit stalls on the road side, plying a healthy mix of orange & pomegranate juice. The Sultaniye Hot Springs sit on the south-west shore the lake. The hot mud pools contain mineral waters that are rich in chloride, sodium, hydrogen sulphide and bromide. There are even rudimentary cabins that some braver souls come to stay & take the waters
Kids
Best Suited For: All AgesSituated just a 35 minute drive from Dalaman Airport, this is perfect for young families who want to limited the road distance after the flight. Villa Krystal is in extensive grounds and boasts a private pool that children will find the essence of fun. There are soft grassy spots and plenty of shaded areas – perfect for safe playing.
From the villa, it’s a short 10-minute drive to the centre of Dalyan. There you’ll find family-friendly restaurants serving both local and international cuisine. There is also a Saturday market, selling everything from fresh fruit and exotic spices to carpets, jewellery and shoes. Situated in the centre is a playground where the children can mix with the local kids whilst you sip tea in the traditional tea garden.
For day trips, you can head to the ancient city of Kaunos, with Lycian rock tombs and the remains of a theatre. The mud baths are always a winner with all ages and make for some great holiday snaps too. To the south of Dalyan is Iztuzu Beach, a sandy beach with crystal-clear and calm waters that are ideal for swimming. It’s also famous for its Loggerhead Sea Turtles – see if you can spot one. If not head to Kaptan June's Sea Turtle Foundation at the end of the beach and see the ones have been rescued.
Young and older children will enjoy a boat ride down the river spotting rock tombs and wildlife. You can take a sea boat to the pristine nearby bays that line the coast. There There’s Asi Bay with caverns and caves for exploring, or you could take a 12 Islands of Gocek tour and visit the rocky islets, ancient ruins and enjoy prime snorkelling and swimming spots.

How long have you owned the property?
Vilal Krystal was completed in 2008. It took over five years to complete this project and yes, it went way over budget and No! We wouldn’t do it again ……………….. Well, maybe sometime in the future!
What was it about the property that you first fell in love with?
We first came to Dalyan in 1997. Dear friends of ours arranged the holiday and we didn’t know quite what to expect. It was serendipity. We fell in love with the village, the river, the people, the food and the laid-back way of life. It became our perfect chill-out place far, far away from our hectic, overworked, stressed-out lives in London.
Are there any interesting stories in its history?
The next step was to find a plot of land that we could build our own dream home on. It took several years to find the right spot and the right architect. The brief was to bring “the outside in” and to take into consideration that we like art. As any collector will know, it becomes a compulsion.
For anyone coming to stay is there anything in the surrounding area they should...
Really do?
The surroundings of the village consist of marshlands, very popular with birdwatchers, and
large citrus and pomegranate plantations.
The beautiful 6 km long beach, which can also be reached by a 12 km bus ride to the eastern tip of the beach, is the sanctuary of the caretta caretta turtle, and therefore under the protection of the World Life Fund.
Really eat?
If you enjoy trying as many different tastes as possible, Dalyan is a good place to experiment. You can even change venue between courses, as there is a good selection of pastanes (pastry shops) specializing in puddings and tarts!
Really see?
If you like stunning views of Lycean rock tombs, a relaxing boat ride to one of the
most beautiful beaches of the world, or the large quiet lake, then by all means come to
Dalyan!
What insider tip would you pass on about the property?
The villa has been carefully and cleverly designed to catch the natural breeze to cool the house naturally. Simply open the windows at both ends of the villa, and you’ll be amazed at how quickly it cools down.

Everything was fantastic!
Everything was fantastic! Villa has a great view from both inside and outside. Love the art gallery concept, I myself working as an art director in gaming so it was pretty cool to stay with all the different art forms on my holiday too. Mountain view from huge windows was epic, I watched like they are framed paintings:) Hope to see you again, we all enjoyed it, great experience! Thank you so much, Pat is a great host.

Great place for a family holiday, amazing surroundings
I don't want to pack! Can we stay forever please? We have honestly had the best week in Dalyan. Afte the pandemic we have been longing to travel. This is a great place for a family holiday. The wildlife, the food, the kind people, the views, we feel truly blessed to have staye here! You must check out The Kingfisher cafe, the beach, the turtle rescue, blue bistro, the lake (the sunset), the harbour, the bakery (eat baklava) and truly have the best time and soak in your surroundings.

Delightful villa, beautiful surroundings
We've had a delightful 10 days here with beautiful warm weather so have thoroughly enjoyed the gardens and the pool. The house is amazing as is the art work and it's been fun to google the different artists to find out more. The location is great and we have explored locally and lots of back roads. Istuzu beach is a must as it is a boat trip from Dalyan, markets at Dalyan & Artaka (fantastic fruit and veg), wathing the mega boats along with many days just enjoying all the delights of the villa. Thank you for sharing this beautiful home with us.

Fabulous Villa
We stayed here in September. The villa certainly has the Wow factor.
Where do I start? We were met by Tugrul the gardener, who also delivered bread in the mornings, called taxis for us & brought us fresh pomegranates, as well as keeping the gardens and pool running!
The house is stunning, and the rock that sits behind is a real feature.
If you cook you'll be hard pushed to dind anything the kitchens (one inside and one out) don't have. The owner had thought of everything, even little lights that come on when you move in the night.
We took taxis into town some nights and barbecued other nights. The Iztuzu beach is a 10 minute (beautiful) drive away, here there is a cafe and 2 sunbeds were around £2. You must visit the turtle rescue, the Saturday market, take a boat down the river, see the sunsets...
The villa was amazing and relaxed, we definitely felt like we'd had a holiday. -
Amazing Time
We had the most amazing time in your gorgeous house and our children still talk about it as their most memorable holiday. The caretaker, Tagrul was great and we still remember all he taught us about making a good barbecue. We are artist and designer couple who both trained at Royal College of Art so we totally loved it.
