Introducing Villa Marnes, a stunning three-bedroom, semi-detached property combining modern architecture and stylish design with luxurious high-end amenities and home-from-home comforts. Villa Marnes features a fresh and light decor, beautifully accented with soft, neutral tones and splashes of rich turquoise in the sumptuous soft furnishings. Each room is light, comfortable and spacious, with large floor-to-ceiling windows and doors that showcase spectacular glittering ocean views from every room. The villa's living area is complete with contemporary-style fixtures and fittings and a flat-screen satellite TV for your entertainment, offering guests the perfect spot for relaxation at the end of a busy day.

Villa Marnes has a modern and highly-functional kitchen and dining area, featuring a handsomely crafted table for enjoying family meals and plenty of food preparation space. The kitchen is well-equipped with everything you'll need to cater to yourself and your guests during your stay, including an oven and electric hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, toaster, kettle, coffee maker and dishwasher, along with plenty of cookware, crockery and utensils.

The first of the villa's three bedrooms is found on the ground floor, a spacious and elegantly decorated twin bedroom perfect for the kids and featuring an ensuite shower room. On the first floor, you'll discover two spacious double bedrooms with large, comfy beds, wardrobes, and modern ensuite shower facilities. Both bedrooms have access to a shared terrace - the ideal place for enjoying a morning cuppa while you take in more of those incredible sea views.

From the ground floor, guests have direct access from the living room to Villa Marnes' covered and fully furnished terrace - a great 'chill out' area ideal for enjoying pre-dinner drinks or curling up with a good book. The second part of the terrace serves as a beautiful outdoor dining and barbecue area so guests can partake in alfresco dining while enjoying their surroundings. The villa's garden is complete with sun loungers and a luxurious private pool easily accessible by steps - ideal for cooling down on a hot day and an addition that is sure to be a hit with adults and kids alike!

  • One of the villa’s three bedrooms is located on the ground floor. As it is the twin room, which would be ideal for kids, it could pose a problem for families of younger children who don’t want them sleeping on a different floor

Villa Marnes enjoys a prime location in the San Jaime area, close to San Bou beach. Supermarkets, restaurants, bars and shops are just a short walk away, making Villa Marnes a great choice of accommodation for those who have young children or aren’t looking to hire a car or use public transport during their stay. Nearby Son Bou beach is one of the longest stretches of sand on the island and features elevated timber walkways over the sand dunes that provide easy access for pushchairs, prams and wheelchairs and which make it popular with visitors who have small children, and those with limited mobility. Even though the beach can get busy during the summer months and does have areas that naturists frequent, there’s enough space that it should be easy to find a quiet spot to set up for the day and enjoy the clear, shallow waters and soft sands. You’ll find plenty of family-friendly amenities here, such as lots of on-duty lifeguards, a first-aid post, a sun lounger and parasol hire, and a wide range of water sports activities that the whole family can enjoy.

You’ll find Club san Jaime near Son Bou beach, open from late morning until early evening, and features some exciting water slides that the kids (and the adults!) will enjoy. Oliver recommends spending an hour or so here on a hot day. It’s great fun and very reasonably priced.

If you head into the centre of Son Bou, you’ll find several good supermarkets, ideal for self-catering, and plenty of places to buy well-priced trinkets and souvenirs. There are also ATMs, a good taxi rank, and an excellent bus service available if you want to travel a little further afield to Santo Tomas, which is also accessible along the coastal path if you fancy the walk. Santo Tomas is a slightly quieter resort than Son Bou, and this beautiful village is popular with families with young children. The resort is a nature-lovers paradise that features gorgeous remote beaches, countryside walks and cycling tracks - ideal for those who want to get away from it all and enjoy all of the beauty and peace this island offers.

The resort of Son Bou in the municipality of Alaior, on the south coast of Menorca, is renowned for having the biggest and probably best beach on the island. The resort is located around 20 kilometres from the international airport at Mahon.

Son Bou is a well-developed area containing many restaurants offering a good range of British, Indian, Chinese and Mediterranean dishes, as well as numerous bars, some of which are themed to help entertain young ones.

While the resort is very popular for families, the sheer size of the beach makes it easy for those who prefer to avoid the little ones to find their ideal spots! There is an abundance of natural sand dunes that make a very pleasant backdrop.

Ideal for Kids Ideal for Teens

Villa Marnes is an ideal choice for families with children. Situated close to excellent local amenities and the beach, everything you could need during your stay is within easy reach. The villa is spacious enough for families and features a twin room with ensuite facilities that would be perfect for older kids. It’s worth noting that there is no cot or highchair available at the villa, so those travelling with very young children need to make arrangements. Air conditioning, WiFi and satellite TV ensure that the kids can enjoy a comfortable and well-entertained stay, and a private pool will surely add a touch of excitement to their holiday.

Minor safety issues include stairs inside and out (from the terrace down to the pool area) and a pool with no safety barrier. Still, well-supervised children can enjoy a well-secured and private environment in which to play.

All kids love a day at the beach, and Son Bou’s famous beach has plenty to offer families with children and is considered one of the best in Menorca for kids. Although the beach can get busy and has areas that welcome naturists, it’s large enough that you should have no problem finding your own space to play and relax in private. The waters here are clear and shallow - perfect for paddling and snorkelling, and the addition of lifeguards and a first aid post add peace of mind to parents. Oliver recommends heading to the beach with a picnic and taking advantage of the beach’s shaded picnic area, complete with tables and benches for a fun family day out.

There are loads of exciting sporting activities available in Son Bou that the whole family will enjoy, including bicycle hire so that you can enjoy the many nature trails and horseback riding experiences that allow the whole family to enjoy the spectacular views along the coast in a relaxing and unique way. Son Bou is also home to a scuba diving centre that caters to family groups, where guides provide a safe and fun experience, introducing kids and adults alike to the marine fauna of Menorca.
