Masia Pelagalls is located in the stunning La Segarra region in El Plans de Sio in the province of Lleida. This beautiful, natural Catalonia region offers much entertainment and superb hiking and biking. You can visit the extraordinary Castles of La Segarra. La Segarra is known as the land of castles due to the large number of fortifications. The Managers of Masia Pelagalls can give you an excellent route map so that you see the very best of them. They include Castell de Concabella, Castell de les Sitges, Castell de Florejacs, Castell de Pallargues and Castell de Montcortes.

The Spanish side is known as Baixa Cerdanya. Some of the best Alpine and Nordic ski resorts include La Molina and Masella in Cerdanya, Grandvalira and Vallnord in Andorra and Font Romeu and Les Angles in the French Pyranees. You can ski by day or enjoy a night skiing arranged by the villa team. La Molina has an adapted sports centre and has earned a reputation as being one of the most advanced winter centres for visitors with reduced mobility. Cerdanya offers fantastic hiking opportunities at all times of the year. There are themed hikes such as the ‘Cami dels Bons Homes’ or Way of the Good Men and long-distance hiking paths like the GR1 as well as tougher mountain hikes. If you do not want such a challenge then there are many short walking paths around towns such as Puigcerda and Llivia. Llivia is unique and very pretty. It offers an interesting mix of Spanish, Catalan and French culture and food with a beautiful ancient church, Medieval cobbled streets and old castle ruins set on the hill.

It is located in the Parc de la Ciutadella and is now home to roughly 2000 animals of 300 different species. It also boasts more than 1300 trees, plants and 332 different botanical varieties. Barcelona Aquarium is one of Europe’s most important recreational and educational marine centres with 21 aquariums, 11000 animals of 450 species, an 80 metre long underwater tunnel, six million litres of water and an immense Oceanarium. It offers a fantastic educational and fun visit. At the highest point of the city, you will find Tibidabo, a family amusement park. It is over one hundred years old offering an interesting and amusing day out.

Children also enjoy The Magic Fountain of Montjuic which first spouted on 19th May 1929 during the Great Universal Exhibition. It delivers a spectacular display of light, colour and water acrobatics along to music every Thursday to Sunday during the summer months and on Fridays and Saturdays during the winter. Also built for the Universal Exhibition is Poble Espanyol, a life-size reproduction of different Spanish villages. It is very close to the Magic Fountain. Visitors enjoy the architecture, the crafts, contemporary art, shopping and the food. The whimsical creations of Gaudi are also a huge family attraction.
