Book Now & Grow Green: 3 Trees Planted with Every Booking!

This Earth Day, join our mission to plant 3 trees for every booking made between April 22nd - 28th, 2024. Let's make a sustainable impact together! Learn more about our journey here >>

Nestled within many hectares of tree-dotted parkland and commanding an impressive position overlooking the Tiber valley and Tuscan hills is historic Dimora Cardamini. This large palazzo dates back to the late 18th century and has since become a comfortable and characterful villa for unforgettable holidays with loved ones.

As well as having an incredible amount of interior space, Dimora Cardamini offers sprawling gardens on several levels. Relax in the pool, at a table with drinks or meals, or under the shade of a leafy tree. Wherever you choose to spend time, stunning views of the lush, rolling countryside that surrounds you are there to be soaked up.

All of the rooms beautifully showcase a mix of the modern and the historic. This blend makes the living and dining spaces wonderfully atmospheric places to unwind and socialise. Sure to impress during mealtimes is the grand fireplace. Wood beams, terracotta tiles and stone all work together to create a welcoming sense of warmth and to perfectly reflect the villa's rural setting.

Interior furnishings have been carefully selected to reflect the grandeur and original features of the palazzo. This is especially evident in the six ensuite bedrooms, with glorious frescoes being complemented by elegant pieces of antique wood furniture. One bedroom also has its own private balcony with seating for enjoying romantic drinks as evening begins to fall. Bathrooms with marble showers add a touch of sumptuous luxury.

Dimora Cardamini is set within gardens over several levels. There are lush lawns to enjoy, with al fresco dining on the patio giving you clear views over the gardens and beyond. The surrounding parkland is studded with century-old oaks, cypresses and pine trees for a cool, leafy atmosphere in which to enjoy leisurely strolls. Cool down after lazy afternoons in the sun with a dip in the pool, or simply chill out in the jacuzzi.

There's free fishing on offer at the private lake just 500m from the villa. Mountain bikes give you the chance to explore the wider area on fun trips with the family.

Less than a 10-minute drive from the villa is the lovely village of Monterchi. It has a range of restaurants, shops and interesting spots to visit. Be sure to make the most of tasting opportunities at its famous winery!

A 30-minute drive will bring you to historic cities such as Arezzo and Città di Castello. A natural paradise is just over an hour's drive away at Lake Trasimeno Regional Park, with its glorious lake and chances to spot many birds and other wildlife.

It's just a short drive to the nearest village, with pretty Monterchi having a good choice of amenities to offer. There are shops for buying groceries and other holiday essentials, as well as restaurants and bars. There's a friendly, traditional atmosphere wherever you go, with narrow streets home to cafes and workshops.

Monterchi is also an historic place, so there's plenty of sightseeing to do. Take in spectacular views over the surrounding countryside from the impressive fortress and visit the Museo della Madonna del Parto to see a very special piece of art. The Madonna del Parto fresco was painted by one of Italy's greatest Renaissance artists, Piero della Francesca. Painted in the Church of Santa Maria di Momentana, it was moved and put on show in the museum in the 1990s.

More art is on offer in Città di Castello. Visit Palazzo Vitelli alla Cannoniera which houses the Municipal Art Gallery (Pinacoteca) to see paintings by many Renaissance artists, such as Lorenzetti and Raphael. The 14th-century Church of San Domenico has some stunning 15th-century frescoes to marvel at too.

Historic Arezzo has a bit of everything, with centuries of history and culture to discover. Some of the most beautiful buildings include the cathedral and the Basilica di San Francesco. Also with plenty to offer is the town of Gubbio. Take the stand-up cable car called Funivia Colle Eletto all the way up to the top of Monte Ingino for amazing views over the Apennines Mountains
and to explore the Sant'Ubaldo Basilica.

Dimora Cardamini isn't near the coast, but that doesn't mean you need to miss out on a beach experience. Drive to Lake Trasimeno for its stunning regional park as well as a number of lakeside towns and villages. Castiglione del Lago is home to a sandy beach from where you can hire sun loungers, pedalos and canoes. Younger children will enjoy the playground here too.

Reviews

  • Better than expected

    on 19/03/2024

Dimora Cardamini is amazing. Better than we expected.

  • Glorious holiday

    on 18/09/2023

My family and I spent the most glorious two week holiday in August in this impressive Dimora Cardamini celebrating my birthday. The owner could not have been more helpful in recommending places to visit and experiences to sample in the area. He spoke excellent English and booked restaurants and wine tasting for us all.

The palazzo, pool and beautiful gardens were regularly cleaned and maintained to a very high standard. The owner ensured our stay in Tuscany would be memorable and kindly left a surprise edible gift for me on my birthday.

The entire family had a wonderful time exploring the area and I would thoroughly recommend this unique and beautifully maintained house.

  • Wonderful experience

    on 03/05/2023

There's no question that the owner of the villa, Rosado, made our experience much better. The villa is in a remote locale so having the owner's advice about local sites, restaurants etc. was critical. Although remote, the location was beautiful. If you do not have a car, you will need to rent one. The cost of the villa was reasonable. Well laid out with an en suite bathroom in every room. Rosado arranged for a chef to come and cook for us. The chef was excellent. Worth every penny. The chef is also the owner of a local restaurant - La Pieve Vecchia. A must. Rosado can make a reservation for you. Problems of note. It wasn't clear that we needed to supply our own soap and shampoo. If you plan to cook, the kitchen is not well supplied with cooking tools. Despite asking in advance, it was unclear what expenses could be paid by credit card including van transfers, rental cars and services such as a chef. Cash is preferred, making payment inconvenient. Overall, a wonderful experience due to the owner's interest in providing the best visit possible.

  • We will be back!

    on 15/08/2019

This was a 3 week family vacation for my wife and me, 4 children and spouses. The location, quality of the villa, and the warmth and hospitality of the Rosadi family made it especially enjoyable. I agree wholeheartedly with the other comments posted, and will emphasize the personal attention we received from Mr. Rosadi. His availability and knowledge of the area and its history added depth to our experience, and gave us confidence that we would be well taken care of in whatever circumstances should arise. His tour of the valley was very instructive, and brought us to places we would not otherwise have found.
The views from the villa and surrounding areas are magnificent and pastoral at the same time. The eye doesn’t know where to look first.
This is truly a place to come to be renewed, to refresh relationships between family and friends, and enjoy the art, history hospitality and beauty that is Italy.
Do get acquainted with the proprietors of the local restaurants and the good people at the local grocery.
If you come, stay a while. The 3 weeks we had allowed our getting into the rhythm of Tuscany, and served to renew our spirits.

  • Beautiful villa in a stunning location!

    on 17/07/2019

Mr Rosadi is so helpful and so friendly. This villa was everything we wanted and more, and I would absolutely recommend it.

  • Delightful experience which we will remember with a warm heart

    on 24/05/2018

Our week at Dimora Cardamini was wonderful. A new delightful experience which we will remember always with a warm heart. Stunning surroundings, from the immaculate garden, the forest, the views were amazing & the villa itself is really beautiful. I must say mid May was perhaps a little early to enjoy the pool, as it was cool & the weather was usually warmer for this time of year, but nevertheless we had a wonderful time & I would highly recommend this glorious villa & it’s beautiful surroundings. Each group staying at the Palazzo will have & create their own journey & the beauty of this is, you can drive to beautiful towns, take walks, or just be in the moment & thoroughly enjoy the villa & it’s calming peaceful location in Ripoli. Highly recommended.

  • Amazing stay!

    on 04/06/2017

There were 10 of us who stayed here at the villa for a week and we could all honestly say it was one of the best experiences ever. Rosado met us and explained everything to us and we were so impressed with his enthusiasm and knowledge. We loved hearing all about his wonderful villa which he restored himself....very proud family tradition. Everything about the villa was excellent....the garden, pool area, facilities in the kitchen and laundry plus the basic neck sitting for cooking were just like home...nothing was lacking ( only the washing machine cycle took forever)!!!! The location of this villa was superb and we visited all the local villages which were so quaint and small...no need to visit the big cities like Siena and Florence when you have local ones which have more atmosphere and ambience. Rosado recommended places to go to and everything he told us was spot on...La Citerna and Alighieri nearby were wonderful and had the best restaurant. We were lucky enough to enjoy a mediaeval festival as well as a polenta festival plus Rosado took us personally to a local monastery . The arrival meal which Rosado’s wife cooked was outstanding too. Without a doubt we would visit this villa again and can’t recommend it highly enough!!!!
