In the Puglian countryside, surrounded by landscapes of olive and fruit trees, Trullo Le Fate is a stylish home in a wonderful setting just a short drive from Ostuni, one of northern Salento’s most enchanting towns and UNESCO-protected site.
The original trullo dates back to the mid-19th century when it was still common for locals to live in trulli across this part of Puglia. It has been lovingly renovated in 2019; climb into the cosy raised bed in the alcove or sit back in the pretty armchair in a relaxation corner and there’s even a characterful shower room. Personal touches such as little objets d’art and antique furniture add both quality and warmth.
Two further bedrooms can be found in a new home, created beside the trullo and built from stone allowing it to blend in perfectly with its surroundings. The owner, an interior design enthusiast, has styled this house beautifully, choosing each feature with the greatest care from the intricate tiles in the kitchen and the beautiful prints scattered throughout to the exquisite old Italian lamps that have been brought back to life. Air-conditioning and underfloor heating have also been added and even the towels and bed linen are of the finest quality.
Doors from the kitchen-diner open out to a lovely veranda looking out to the swimming pool, extensive lawn and olive trees beyond. The gardens around the home have been landscaped with pretty stone walls and little steps leading down to the poolside area. Enjoy relaxing days in the Puglian sunshine, sipping wine from the vineyards of Salento al-fresco or preparing a feast by the stone barbecue. The vast grounds also feature fruit trees with all sorts of seasonal delights and there’s even a little kitchen garden for guests to visit.
La Città Bianca, the white-washed hilltop town of Ostuni, is just over a ten-minute drive away where you can explore the maze of historic lanes, discovering awe-inspiring architecture, steep alleyways, colourful trattorias and catching magical glimpses of the Adriatic sea. Equally as near is Ceglie Messapica, a food lover’s dream with some wonderful restaurants dotted around the picturesque old town and surroundings, including the Michelin starred Al Fornello da Ricci.
Well-known towns such as Locorotondo, Martina Franca and famous Alberobello with its 14th century trulli are all nearby whilst the Adriatic coast can be reached in twenty minutes. Sandy beaches, lidos and rocky ledges await, many surrounded by incredible natural beauty such as Lido Morelli and Torre Guaceto.
Heading west, within an hour you can also reach the turquoise seas of the Ionian. This part of Alto Salento offers you such a variety of wonderful Puglian experiences.

- One of the double beds is a raised bed in an alcove in the trullo - have a look at the photos so you can appreciate its charm
- The grounds are slightly terraced in parts with little stone steps leading from the trullo down to the villa and swimming pool
- The trullo also has open steps leading either side to the flat roof – beautiful aesthetically but not suitable for children to climb

Location
About the surrounding area of Trullo Le FateTrullo Le Fate is located in the Puglian countryside in northern Salento, perfectly situated between the towns of Ostuni and Ceglie Messapica, just twenty minutes from the Adriatic coastline.
Ostuni (7km), also known as 'La Città Bianca', is a beautiful hilltop town with a maze of narrow lanes, alleyways and steep staircases where you can discover historic architecture, white-washed houses with colourful doors and trailing flowers, pretty restaurants as well as amazing views of the surrounding olive groves and Adriatic sea. The 15th century cathedral can be found at the very top and well worth the effort. Look out for the vibrant market on the edge of town on a Saturday morning where locals gather to buy all sorts of regional produce.
Also close by is Ceglie Messapica (7km), a picturesque town dating back to medieval times which has a particularly good reputation for its cuisine. Discover some great shops selling local delights as well as food and drink festivities across the year. There are some very good restaurants in and around the town ranging from authentic trattorias to the Michelin starred Al Fornello da Ricci. Ceglie Messapica doesn’t tend to attract the crowds of some of the other more famous towns in this region so there’s a real sense of authenticity as you wander around.
There are some incredible beaches along the Adriatic coast, around twenty minutes by car. Look out for Torre Guaceto (30km) with its nature reserve featuring sand dunes and lagoons or discover the sandy beaches of Lido Morelli (20km) and Torre Pozzelle (18km).
There are other great beaches on the Ionian side, around an hour away. Turquoise coloured seas, rocky beaches and sandy shores make this area just as popular in the summer. Campomarino (52km), near the protected dunes and forests, is one of the best beaches with its fine sand and clear sea.
Alberobello (33km), a UNESCO World Heritage site with trulli dating back to the 14th century, as well as picturesque Martina Franca (24km), Locorotondo (25km) and Cisternino (17km), one of Italy’s ‘Borghi più Belli’, are all within easy reach.
Across this region you will also find horse-riding, cycling, mountain biking, incredible walks, golf, a variety of watersports as well as olive oil and wine-tasting.

Firstly, the beach is only a 20-minute drive away. There are long sandy bays, rocky ledges and lidos often with sun-beds, umbrellas and summer restaurants. The crystal-clear water is lovely for swimming as well as snorkelling and there are some wonderful walking paths, bike trails and watersports along the coastline.
The Ionian coast, around an hour away, is also a great place to visit – Campomarino is especially known for its sandy bay and gently-shelving sea, perfect for a family day out.
The local towns of Ostuni and Ceglie Messapica can be visited with a gelato in-hand as well as plenty of cafes in the summer months where you can seek shade and have a break from all the exploring. Alberobello is an especially magical place with its medieval trulli to enchant all ages.
For a change of scene, spend a hot summers day at one of the waterparks which can be found in northern Salento or visit Zoosafari, around 30km away in Fasano. There are also lots of activities at the Ciuchino Birichino Adventure Park, about 20-minutes away, with activities such as tree-top climbing courses, rock climbing and archery.
The caves across the region are also fascinating to discover, the nearest being Grotte di Montevicoli near Ceglie Messapica.

Speechless when arrived
We chose this structure typical of the places not only for the beauty but also for the tranquillity of the valley

Immaculate home
Incredible family time in a comfortable immaculate home that allowed for us to explore different adventures by car, sea, bike, and also relax at home -welcome basket of local treats was above and beyond- all along the week we treasured all the special aspects of this HOME and location.
I hope we can make it back one day as it will remain one of our favourite holidays with our now adult children.

Amazing week spent in Trullo Le Fate. Fabulous accommodation with lovely gardens and pool perfect location in between Ostuni and Ceglie M. The trullo had everything we needed and the host looked after us very well. Loved the tomatoes from the garden and our little gift packages of wine and local produce. Desperate to go back there asap! Stunning
We had a great time at this property. It is really stunning and feels like a little oasis. The bedrooms are all comfortable and the kitchen well-equipped. The pool was heaven on several hot summer days. It is about a 10 minute drive into Ostuni. Thanks for having us!

Fabulous luxury amongst olive groves perfectly placed between Ostuni and Ceglie M. The rooms were Beautifully and sensitively decorated to reflect the area and history. Pool fantastic and we loved the vegetable garden. The owner was so helpful too.

Puglia perfection.
Trullo Le Fate is ideal for couples or families with older children, a modern, bright and superbly equipped Villa - tastefully decorated to a very high level. Its a 10 minute drive to the beautiful towns of Ostuni and Ceglie Messapica if you want to eat out. Or instead enjoy majestic views of the sun setting over distant hills from the stone terrace with an Apero Spritz! & your freshly bought produce sizzling on the barbecue in the poolside summer kitchen. The large terraced garden is well screened and abundant with olive trees and grassy lawns, lemon trees and flowerbeds, an ideal place for a lazy afternoon snooze. ;-)
We loved the villa and its modern design that maximises space, has two bedrooms both with air conditioning and a substantial open plan living area with a designer touch. Cool sliding doors open wide onto the terrace, help bring the outside in and an up to date kitchen will make meals a delight to prepare.
My teenage son stayed in the Trullo itself and revelled in the privacy, peace and quiet.
I could go on - but I'll leave it for you to discover... enjoy.

What a wonderful place in Italy! My five girlfriends and I felt home the moment we arrived. The owners are very helpful and attentive, showed us around and helped us wherever they could. Ostuni and many small and very cute villages and the supermarkets are nearby and the property is very well situated in a quiet neighbourhood. The whole property is simply stunning. We would recommend this house to anyone, you won‘t want to leave Trullo Le Fatte. Thanks again for the lovely stay, we will be back!

The house was wonderful
The house was wonderful; really beautiful. The standard of the build is superb and the fittings are all top quality and in excellent taste.
We were met at 11pm and shown around in detail, then left to our own devices for the week, bar a quick visit from 4 gardeners for an hour, when they blitzed the garden efficiently, so as not to be in the way. We received a welcome basket of gorgeous local food and a further two packages during the week of very high quality local produce. There is a veg garden with endless tomatoes and fig trees scattered around the grounds.
The infinity pool and outdoor lounging area/sofa at the end was wonderful and there is a proper wood BBQ and outdoor fridge to add to it, as well as a (hot) outdoor shower. The area is all very private and peaceful.
The beds in both the Trulli and the house bedrooms are very comfortable - unusual in a rented house. Air-con throughout and great bathrooms.
Very hard to find anything to complain about. Only that the real basics on the kitchen front, even salt and pepper and washing up liquid, are not there and we had to buy everything from scratch, which is a terrible waste. Having rented a holiday home, it's hugely helpful to tenants that the basics are there and you trust them to replace them. But that is it - everything else was superb. Thank you to the team. -

We (mama, papa, two girls 1 and 3yrs old, grandma and grandpa) had a great stay at this wonderful place! The welcome basket full of delicacies, the peaceful silence (especially at night) surrounding the property, the nice pool area, of course the beautifully renovated Trullo and the new villa, the tasteful interior, the small presents that found their way to us during our stay (wine and cheese - thank you again!), all of this made our vacation there extremely pleasant! The hosts were always there if we had any questions, provided us with recommendations for the area and region, Wifi works well, air conditioning works well. Bring mosquito repellent for the evenings! For us, the location was good, only 10min to Ostuni, but quiet. About 25min to the closest beach. Perfect to explore Puglia. We highly recommend staying at the Trullo! We enjoyed it a lot and will definitely come back when we visit Puglia again.

An oasis of peace
An oasis of peace: an ideal location to relax and to be in pleasant company, surrounded by centuries-old olive groves. The Trullo is completely renewed and the new building nearby provides extra comfort without spoiling the characteristic and unique Apulian charm! I definitely recommend it.
