The municipality town where the villa is located is called Perivolia of Chania, 6.1km south of the city, in the northern foothills of the White Mountains. The journey into Chania is only a 5–10-minute drive, so you can come and go as you please, making the most of Chania’s incredible culinary scene and soaking in the atmosphere of this vibrant city. Chania is famed for its charming Venetian Harbour and old port, alongside its narrow shopping streets and waterfront restaurants. We highly recommend heading into the city early, taking a stroll around the narrow lanes and popping your head into a few of the beautiful boutiques, before heading down to the harbor for sunset. Whether you set yourself up in a rooftop restaurant, a seafront bar or simply stroll down the harbor, the colors that ignite the evening sky will take your breath away, only amplified by the gorgeous city as a backdrop.
When it comes to food, there is plenty to be excited about. Chania has options to suit every occasion, from small local tavernas serving classics like Moussaka and Lamb chops, to high-end restaurants with tasting menus and five-star cuisine. We strongly believe if you do not try both, you will be missing out! For a special occasion, PALLAS restaurant is a favourite among guests, the rooftop terrace is one of the best spots in the city for sunset and the food is just as good as the view, so we recommend booking ahead.
Crete is admired for its beaches, ancient sites and time trodden villages. There are gorges to be walked and mountains to be climbed, with endless sandy and pebble shores to rest at each day. In the summer months, the temperatures can soar across the island, so take care as you explore.
An ancient olive tree of great historical and cultural value gave the name to this beautiful region, with the story saying that it was once the only tree in the area. Today it stands out because of its size. The trunk at the base has a perimeter of thirteen meters and it is divided into five other trunks that form a huge nest. With branches reaching endlessly into the atmosphere you can take a rest under the canopy, soaking in the pure tranquility of this space. The surrounding area has been shaped to protect the tree. It is a 30-minute drive from the villa to this mystical spot, and well worth the journey.
