Villa Fluorite is a capsule of contemporary cool. It is classy, sparkling and brilliantly well-designed to offer luxury accommodation for eight guests. It sits above our Villa Quartz with two beautifully appointed levels. This newly built villa is perfect for a family or group of friends. If there isn’t enough space for your whole holiday group, you could also book Villa Quartz and enjoy another three bedrooms and another swimming pool. Villa Fluorite comes with stunning views of the beach at Kalamaki, just 5km from the Venetian harbour of Chania Old Town. It even comes with an entertainment room with a giant Smart television, a pool table, Playstation and a bar!
Kalamaki is a wonderful resort. With glistening soft sands, warm, turquoise sea, a fantastic range of restaurants, bars and tavernas plus a variety of shops, it is a wonderful destination where you can truly relax and easily explore the many charms of Crete. If you don’t want to drive once you arrive at your villa, you can easily catch the local buses or take a taxi into Chania Old Town, Agia Marina or beyond. Chania Old Town is one of the most alluring, captivating towns of Crete. The Venetian port is just 5km from the villa. With picturesque, narrow alleys draped with colourful bougainvillea, a fabulous dining scene, atmospheric bars, the most amazing sunsets and gorgeous little boutiques lining the cobbled streets, you will quickly lose your heart and want to return time and time again. Crete is also home to three of the most sensational beaches in all of Greece, Balos Beach, Elafonisi and Falasarna. You really must try and visit at least one of them during your stay.
You will definitely leave Villa Fluorite with magical holiday memories. Its design is fantastic and it offers high-end amenities as well as brilliant entertainment. It boasts four magnificent contemporary bedroom suites and a fabulous bright and airy living space. On the lower floor, you will enjoy this fabulous open-plan space as well as the entertainment room and two-bedroom suites. In the playroom of the villa lies a gym area, adorned with an array of gym equipment including a multifunctional gym machine, a stationary bicycle, a back extension machine, and dumbbells.
Pleasing the chef in your group, the trendy white and black kitchen boasts outstanding appliances and is very sociable with a long breakfast bar. Next to the kitchen is a fabulous indoor dining space followed by the stylish living space. Villa Fluorite offers calm and relaxing colour tones but with lively colour pops which come from the dining chairs, pouffes and accent chairs. Together with a lavish, comfy blue sofa and a matching accent chair, the space is just wonderful. There is a huge Smart television and a contemporary fire. Enormous glass doors drown this magical space in natural light and offer access to the terrace. You will enjoy wonderful sea views from the living area.
The bedrooms are gorgeous havens with beautiful contemporary furnishings, Smart televisions, fantastic ensuite bathrooms with top-notch fittings and access to a terrace. Two are located on the lower level, perfect for an early morning swim. The upper two enjoy private balconies with one boasting an extra private terrace with loungers and an umbrella. Every bedroom offers a gorgeous sea view. One of the rooms offers comfy twin beds and the others all enjoy doubles. The bathrooms are truly luxurious with stylish tiles, fluffy towels, dressing gowns and slippers. A trendy open tread staircase takes you to the upper rooms.
The terrace is stunning, not only for its gorgeous sea vistas but for its swimming pool, exquisite furnishings and stylish alfresco dining area. There is a quality gas barbecue too so that your barbecue masters can enjoy themselves.
What you should know…
- If you are heading into Chania for dinner, it is best to pre-book a dinner table though there are also plenty of walk-ins
- The villa also comes with an excellent entertainment room with a large Smart television, Playstation, a bar and a pool table
- The main road in Kalamaki has a number of small mini-markets but there are also two very large supermarkets including a LIDL
- Villa Fluorite sits on the upper floors of a beautiful building with our Villa Quartz below. If you are interested in taking a holiday with another family, you may want to consider booking both villas!
- The swimming pool can be heated free of charge in October and from April to 15 May, otherwise there is a charge of Euro70 per day during the winter months
- Please note that there are many stairs to access the villas

Location
About the surrounding area of Villa FluoriteVilla Fluorite is situated just 100m from the beach in Kalamaki, a very friendly, laid-back resort just outside of Chania. With a gorgeous sandy beach, crystal clear water, amazing restaurants and tavernas and some useful shops, it is a very popular destination. The beach restaurants are very friendly and generally, always offer a glass of raki and some fruit or a dinky pudding as a treat afterwards. There is a good range of restaurants, some serving traditional Greek specialities and others offering fine dining such Corinna Star at Corinna Mare and the restaurant at the Domes Noruz Chania Hotel. Make sure you place some bookings at the start of your holiday!
You do not need a car when staying in Kalamaki though you may prefer to have one to explore this heavenly island. A good bus service runs from Kalamaki into the Old Town of Chania and the list of excursions is endless. You may want to spend a day on the exotic, spectacular beaches of Balos, Falasarna or Elafonisi, you may want to visit some of the mountain villages, visit some ancient monasteries and historic monuments or hike one of the dramatic gorges.
Known as the Venice of the East, Chania Old Town is truly magical with unique shops lining its charming cobbled streets, a brilliant dining scene, trendy waterfront bars serving delicious cocktails and its famous Venetian harbour and imposing lighthouse. The harbour was originally built by the Venetians between 1320 and 1356 and is now a vibrant, cosmopolitan spot for tourists and locals. The Egyptian lighthouse is much photographed, especially at sunset. You can take a slow meander to the lighthouse to take in the stunning views of the harbour, the Old Town with its backdrop of the majestic White Mountains. On the waterfront, the Giali Tzamisi is the oldest Muslim building in Crete. The Turkish name is translated to ‘The Seaside Mosque’. It plays host to various cultural events and exhibitions. One visit to Chania Old Town will not be enough!
After the Minoan Palace of Knossos, the second most visited tourist attraction in Crete is the dramatic and imposing Samaria Gorge. It is the longest and most famous gorge in Europe, sitting at the foothills of the White Mountains. Within the White Mountain’s National Park, it rises to an altitude of 1,230m, is 150m at its widest point and 3m at its narrowest. It continues down to Agia Roumeli on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea. The park and gorge offer protection to over four hundred and fifty species of plant and animal, of which seventy are endemic to Crete. This includes the rare wild kri-kri goats.
If you get time to visit one of the Balos, Elafonisi and Falasarna beaches, you will remember them forever. In the protected ‘NATURA’ area of Balos Bay, Balos’ glistening white sand and turquoise sea is incredible. Not far away is the Cretan wonder, Falasarna, another nestled lagoon with pool-like waters and pink sand. It has been awarded the best beach of Crete and one of the top ten beaches in Europe. Elafonisi has also been named one of the world’s top beaches. It is connected by a sand bar to an island nature reserve with pink sands, wildflowers and unusual rock formations. There is no shade on the island but there are delightful little coves and pockets of sandy beach as well as being home to more than one hundred rare plants including summer sea daffodils and winter-flowering Androcymbium rechingeri. You may even see rare loggerhead sea turtles and you will definitely enjoy picture-perfect sunsets.

How to reach Chania
There are two ways to reach Chania: either by flight or by ferry.
By plane: Chania Airport (CHQ) is only a 20 minutes ride away from central Chania. During the summer months, frequents overseas and domestic flights are performed. In most of the cases, there are available buses that connect Chania city and most of the villas. You can also hire a car from one of the many rental companies at the airport, or alternatively get a taxi to bring you right to your doorstep.
By ferry: If you choose to do an island-hopping trip and use the ferry as a method of transportation, then the closest port is in Souda, only 8km from the centre of Chania. Only ferries from Piraeus in Athens or Heraklion in Crete. Heraklion port has a wider choice: you can also take a ferry from other Greek islands like Santorini, Mykonos or Paros, but you will have to take a longer bus ride to reach your villa. Best Suited For: All AgesVilla Fluorite is a brilliant pick for a family holiday. It is contemporary, spacious, enjoys a fabulous swimming pool, and an entertainment room and is only 100m from a family-friendly beach with shallow, crystal-clear water. The entertainment room offers an enormous Smart television, a pool table and Playstation. Kalamaki is a wonderful resort for families. It is very friendly with a great selection of tavernas and restaurants.
If you haven’t hired a car it is very easy to get a bus into Chania or along to Agia Marina where you will find much entertainment. Minoan’s World 3D Museum and 9D Cinema in Chania Town are popular. It is an immersive cinema where you can learn about the Minoan history while enjoying effects such as earthquakes and snow, bubbles and wind. There are many photo opportunities with murals in the background. The movie stars Zeus as a baby and as a God, abductions, flying too close to the sun and an eruption of the volcano in Santorini causing a devastating tsunami that ended the Minoan era. Agia Marina has a fun mini-golf.
Limnoupolis is a fun water park close to Chania boasting eleven exciting waterslides such as 100m giant slides, free fall slides, a black hole and triple twist slides, a kid’s pool and an artificial island. It also boasts a relaxing 130m lazy river, a huge swimming pool with a diving platform, a kiddie pool and a relaxation area.
The Botanical Park of Crete is a 20-hectare park, 18km from Chania. It boasts 150 species of fruit trees and hundreds of herbs, and medicinal and ornamental plants that the Cretan mountains are famous for. It is home to many birds around the lake, butterflies, wild goats, hares, badgers, Cretan rock ferrets, weasels and tree frogs. There is also a restaurant with amazing mountain views.
Lake Kournas is Crete’s largest freshwater lake and is fed by natural springs running off the Lefka Ori mountains. The water is 22m at its deepest and is a stunning turquoise colour. It is an excellent excursion with pedalos, lots of geese and terrapins and plenty of tavernas nearby. Close by is the Kanakis Olive Mill where you can learn all about the production of olive oil. You can taste the oil in the shop and pick up some souvenirs. You should also take a photograph with the 2000-year-old olive tree outside.
If you decide to visit Balos Beach, you can either drive or take a boat ride there. This is fun too. Just make sure you pack some refreshments and perhaps a beach parasol as there isn’t anything there to protect you from the sun.
