How long have you owned the property?
Bought the land in 2004, we designed the house to compliment the topography of the land and the ancient venetian olive trees
What was it about the property that you first fell in love with?
The peace, the views, the rock formations and the olive trees (250) and the magic of the location!!!
Are there any interesting stories in its history?
Many during the build. The house is built from cut sand stone imported from Italy which still has sea shells showing in the walls. We chose this stone to replicate many of the buildings in Corfu Town particularly the Palace of St Christopher which houses the Asian Museum. Competed build in 2009. Some of the olive trees are over 600 years old and still producing Del Cielo olive oil (bottle for every guest in welcome pack) We designed the house around the olive trees to avoid any damage to them during our build.
Do you have a favourite room in the property?
The kitchen terrace where I have my coffee every morning, views of the Alabanian White Mountains, snow capped until late March with skiing only 45 minutes drive from Igouminitsa (ferry from Corfu every other hour) in Metsova in Northern Greece. The heritage site of Butrint old roman city in Albania, I can see this across the bay (day trips from Corfu Town with a guide well worth the trip). I can see Corfu Town and its fortresses and beyond to the island of Paxos and the mainland of Parga. I can check the sea out, for a boat trip up the coast to my favourite beach side taverna. I’m spoilt.
For anyone coming to stay is there anything in the surrounding area they should...
...Really do?
Explore the venetian city of Corfu, museum of Asian Art (unbelievable experience)
Cocktails in the Liston, a beautiful 300 metre arcade of cafes, bars and tavernas for people watching and conversation, opposite the town cricket pitch with views across to the old fortress. Then off to a favourite restaurant.
Hire a boat and explore the coast line and moor up to beach side taverna for lunch with a private swim afterwards or a snooze whilst anchored in a private cove. Small 45 hp boats are readily available or be tempted with a powerful rib seating 10 with or without a captain to skim across the sea.
Visit the villages of Corfu whose history goes back centuries.
For those who follow the Durrells, see the locations and filming village and experience Lawrence and Gerald’s love of Corfu
We can book golf tee times and clubs from the villa.
Really eat?
Jane and I regularly enjoy many meals in the local tavernas around Corfu and have a short list of those who deliver fine food, traditional Greek fare, but above all give their guests high quality produce. We update our list every year with recommendations.
We know where to shop for the best fresh seasonal vegetables, fruit and sea food.
We can recommend caterers to cook in the villa and our house keeper Katerina can be tempted to make her amazing Greek pasta dishes and her husband Aris is a wiz with our fully equipped BBQ with charcoal grill and pizza oven.
Really see?
Corfu is a treasure trove of scenery, villages, mountains, beaches, heritage town centre, amazing walks, off road driving, scuba diving (PADI trained and school for learners), horse trekking, golf.
What insider tip would you pass on about the property or the area?
Corfu is the jewel of all the Greek islands, Venetian for 500 years, then French, then British until 1864, only then, then did it become part of Greece. Probably the most cultured of any Greek island, an architectural treat with the amalgam for styles and influences.

Stunning!
Magic Rocks is a one of a kind property. The photos are exactly as it is with the most stunning views and unique layout. You can really feel the thought and love that went into designing this wonderful place. The gardens, the tower, the outdoor kitchen and of course infinity pool over looking the sea are breathtaking. Graham is also wonderful and was so helpful every step of the way. Katerina takes care of the property and is available to cook whenever. She spoiled us and was there for any of our needs or requests. We went with our one year old daughter and they had everything we needed for her - a crib, highchair, even pool toys and flaoties. The property worked so well for our family and was an unforgettable experience. This was our first time to Corfu so we didn't realize how steep, narrow and winding all the roads were but it ended up adding to the experience. The property is also located close enough to Corfu town but also great beaches. We loved our time at this magical property and will remember it forever. Thank you Graham!

Met every expectations
We booked Magic Rocks to celebrate our parents' 50th wedding anniversary and the villa met every expectation. Our group comprised two families of four plus my parents and we had plenty of space to spread out and get together for meals and around the pool. The teens were delighted with the very large pool and shady lounging area; we loved the tower with its fabulous bath; the kitchen is very well equipped (no blunt knives or poor quality equipment); the garden is beautifully cared for and full of lush plants and ancient olive trees. It all feels like you're staying in someone's much loved home. Katerina provided a couple of evening meals for us and they were superb - she is an excellent cook. There were a few wasps and mosquitos but Graham had stocked the place with all sorts of anti-insect devices and we were fine. The outdoor BBQ kitchen was brilliant - just wish we'd got around to using the wood fired pizza oven. It really is an exceptional place and Graham and Jane were very welcoming, helpful and kind. We'd all love to go back one day.
