Almyros Beach House is located on the dramatically beautiful northern Corfu coastline, at the peaceful and underdeveloped area of Almyros, which is close to the resort of Acharavi. The house is only 80 meters back from the long sandy family-friendly beach and a few minutes’ walk to the nearest beachfront promenade, which boasts watersports and a few tavernas. The immediate area has individual villas dotted amongst pine woods and olive groves, leading down the beach.
The villa is a short drive from Kassiopi where you will find a host of restaurants, shops, supermarkets and a pretty harbour. This is a popular spot for watersports too, and there are a daily boat trips as well - you can enjoy the mesmerising Corfian coastline from a different perspective.
The island of Corfu features a unique flora and fauna environment. Unlike most of Greece, its common landscapes are lush and green. Besides the usual watersports - kitesurfing, scuba diving, paddleboarding... Corfu is popular for other land activities. Try your hand at horseback riding, hiking or walking one of the many trails available across the island.
A visit to Corfu Town is a must-do. This UNESCO World Heritage Site oozes history and beauty - get lost in the lost town, browsing antique shops. boutiques and small cafes. Even if it is just having a stroll around the Espianada - the largest square in Greece - a visit to the island's capital will not disappoint.
One of the largest and greenest of the Ionian Islands, Corfu is far more than its trademark blue-hued seas and sandy coastline. With its UNESCO World Heritage status and unbeatable strolling opportunities, there is no better place to start exploring than the main town and its historic old quarter, where ancient churches, scattered ruins and a handful of museums mean Corfu’s layers of history can be found just about everywhere. And if you’re in need of a cosy abode, take a look at our flawless villas in Corfu.
How to reach Corfu island
There are two ways to get to Corfu island: either by flight or by ferry.
By plane: During April to October, several direct flights arrive to "Ioannis Kapodistrias" Airport from Europe as Corfu is one of the most popular travel destinations in Greece. During these months, the airport also receives many domestic flights every day from Athens and Thessaloniki.
By ferry: Travelling by ferry is the most popular way of transport in Greece. Ferries to Corfu depart from Patra and Igoumenitsa. If you are travelling from Europe, Corfu is easily accessible by ferry from Venice, Bari, Brindisi or Ancona too. You can easily book your tickets using the link below or the search engine - the port you are looking for is "TBC".
If the villa and local beach aren't enough, the North East coast of Corfu offers plenty for children. There is a Donkey rescue centre at Paleokastritsa, where you can help the volunteers with grooming etc., no entry fee but they welcome donations.
Paleokastritsa also has an aquarium. Waterparks are always popular with youngsters, and the Aqualand waterpark in Agios Ioannis won't disappoint. There's another at Sidari. Mavroudis Family Museum and Modern Olive Oil Press in Vraganiotika have an insight into Olive Oil production and an excellent place to buy Olive Oil, and it's products. If you go to the Vlacherna Monastery, you can take a small boat and see planes landing on the runway at the airport.
Corfu Town has fabulous architecture, and you can take an open-top bus to hear some of the history. Head to Spianada Square, from here you can see the Liston building with its shops. The Old Fortress is also worth a visit. Casa Parlante is a living museum in Corfu Town, showing you the life of a 19th-century nobleman. You can also take a boat trip around the island, probably best to look at boats from Kassiopi.
