Maison de la Félicité is a beautifully restored Bordelais home in the heart of Savignac-de-l’Isle, a small Gironde village surrounded by Bordeaux vineyards. Inside, the house has been styled to a high standard. A contemporary farmhouse kitchen, complete with central island and French doors, sits beside inviting living areas designed for comfort. Sink into the soft embrace of the main lounge, curl up in the separate TV room or gather over long, slow lunches that drift into evening beneath the shade of the covered terrace beside the swimming pool.

Upstairs, four well-appointed air-conditioned bedrooms sleep up to 8 guests with three doubles and one twin bedroom. One features an en suite alongside two family bath/shower rooms, ensuring space for all.

Outside, the garden and swimming pool are incredibly charming. Enjoy coffee and croissants on the breakfast table as the garden comes to life, then retreat to the poolside loungers with a good book in hand. Gather for long lunches by the pizza oven on the shaded terrace, then cook up a feast for evening al-fresco meals accompanied by good local wine – the outdoor dining and lounge area is atmospherically lit up at night.

The village itself offers fresh croissants each morning, a local bar-tabac and a tennis court. Within a five-minute drive, Galgon and Saint-Denis-de-Pile offer a good range of amenities (and a train station), while the riverside town of Libourne brings vibrant markets, excellent restaurants and leisurely boat trips on the Dordogne.

And then there’s the wine. Saint-Émilion, just 20 minutes by car, offers a spectacular immersion into one of the world’s most celebrated wine regions, its cobbled lanes and medieval architecture steeped in heritage. Bordeaux, a 45-minute drive or train ride away, dazzles with its culture, cuisine and charisma. Don’t forget the neighbouring wine appellations of Pomerol and Fronsac as well. Both have wonderful wine and chateaux to explore.
