Maison Brunet is nestled in a countryside hamlet just 3 minutes from the charming village of Marminiac, where you’ll find a traditional bakery and a highly regarded local restaurant. The surrounding area is perfect for a relaxed rural escape, offering easy access to picturesque villages, markets, and historic towns. Just 10 minutes away, Cazals hosts a weekly market and has two bakeries and a small supermarket, ideal for daily essentials. For more extensive shopping and dining options, the town of Gourdon is a 25-minute drive and offers supermarkets, cafés, and a range of restaurants.

A little further afield, Sarlat-la-Canéda, around 45 minutes away, is a highlight of the Dordogne region. Its beautifully preserved medieval quarter is a delight to explore, especially on market days. The town is known for its cultural events and excellent choice of restaurants and pavement cafés.

This region is famed for its gastronomy—look out for duck confit, foie gras, walnuts, and local wines. The wine here is second to none, with famous grapes like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Chenin Blanc all having a huge presence here.

The Dordogne is also brimming with history. Castles and chateaux are scattered throughout the region, among the enchanting medieval villages. History of an altogether more ancient sort can also be explored in the incredible prehistoric cave drawings of Lascaux and Grotte de Rouffignac.
