Location
About the surrounding area of Apartment MonceauThe Plaine-Monceau neighbourhood is one of the most affluent districts of Paris and as such it's home to any number of unusual and colourful mansions, including the palace of the Pope of Chocolate (Emile Menier), the famed inventor of the chocolate bar. The district also has graceful architecture, interesting galleries and museums, and beautiful parks.
The Jean-Jacques Henner Museum (6-minute walk) is located in the private mansion of the painter Guillaume Dubufe. The house was used as a studio by fellow painter Jean-Jacques Henner, hence the remarkable red workshop and Third Republic interior decoration.
The enchanting Parc Monceau (7-minute walk) is an English-style park designed by Baron Haussmann and regularly frequented by the rich and famous of Paris. It is the perfect place for a romantic stroll, morning coffee, or simply to escape the bustle of city streets. Located near the entrance to Parc Monceau, you'll find the Cernuschi Museum dedicated to Asian arts.
Art lovers will also want to visit the Saint-Alexandre Nevsky Cathedral (11-minute walk), not only because of its architectural grace and history (the first Russian Orthodox place of worship in France), but also because it was where Pablo Picasso was married Olga Khokhlova in 1918, before witnesses including Jean Cocteau, Max Jacob, and Guillaume Apollinaire.
Foodies are equally catered for. High-end eaters will surely want to try Guy Savoy's three Michelin starred restaurant at 18, rue de Troyon (nine-minute walk).
