I booked this property for a large group of 12 adults and 10 kids (although the property could take 4 or 5 more). The plan was to have a base as we cycled around the area. I am delighted to say this property delivered on every level and the whole group felt it was one of the best holidays we've ever had. The owner met us at the beginning and gave us a tour. Starting at the top of the house, there is a large loft area with rooms at each end. This is where we put the kids, and they loved it, it's a massive room. The adults then took up the other rooms in the property, which includes two outbuildings if some people want more privacy. On the ground floor there is a grown up dining room, sitting room, reception room and kitchen. We spent almost all our time in the garden area and pool. We ate outside every night on the decking. The kids loved the garden, which is huge, swimming pool is surrounded with trees and gated off, so if you have young children you can keep them safe.

The surrounding area has a great deal to offer. The most useful amenities are in Magny Cours, which is 3km away. They have an intermarche, which has everything you'll need. There is also a pattiserie and pharmacie. Further afield, Nevers has some nice spots and you can cycle there along the canal, or turn the other way for Devizes. We also visited Sancerre and Moulins.

Overall, this is a great property to rent. Nothing is too precious, but you have loads of space to relax and be merry. We hope to book again.

  • The chateau was perfect for the family and a memorable holiday for all of us

    Dear Regis

Just to let you know we had a wonderful holiday and I hope that we passed the after-visit inspection.

The chateau was perfect for the family and a memorable holiday for all of us - I have never seen the grandchildren so content and they never seemed to stop running.

The help of Didier and partner was much appreciated by us all.

Anyway, a fabulous week and thanks to you all

best regards, David and Margaret Kirkwood

  • Arriving was a real OMG moment!

Posted by Anonymous User on 08/12/2014

We booked this at the very last minute and were absolutely delighted with the result. Our party was 10 adults and 9 children - youngest 4 months.

Arriving was a real OMG moment! The chateau is impressive, ground perfect and the accommodation pretty varied. We left our children to sort out who slept where and it did take a day to come up with the best solution but once that happened everyone was happy.

Grounds are safe (electric gate and walled), pool excellent and with fence/hedge all round so we could keep the small children out and there are enough things like slides, swings etc to keep the children happy. Downstairs there is a very nice lounge and dining room, but we tended to stay in the main kitchen and breakfast room to keep sticky hands etc away from the best furniture. The weather was perfect and we ate nearly all meals in the garden whcih was an absolute treat.

Kitchen equipment is well used and it all worked, but was not so perfect that you worried about little people breaking things. Large outdoor BBQ spot on.

Already had "thankyou" cards from the grandchildren rating it the best hoilday ever!

And finally, given it was all done in a rush, Regis and Didier could not have been more helpful.

    Go again? Absolutely!

  • An exceptionel weekend

We arrived at Manoir de la gargole, by recommandation, me and my wife were very lucky to have the chance to stay in such a beautiful, fully eauiped place. The room was beautifully decorated, our diner was very good and the staff was perfect. The breakfast lady was so nice and always very happy

Thank you for the good times

  • Fantastic home from home (with bells on!)

Posted by Anon User on 28/11/2014

We stayed recently with a large family group. The house is really comfortable and feels like a proper family home (with bells on!). Everything you could possibly need is there. Of particular note are the comfortable beds and bedlinen. Having done a few large trips with family to villas with terrible beds, it was a relief to find we were going to get a good nights sleep. The grounds are very safe for young children as you can easily shut the gate to the pool area and the rest of the grounds are walled and behind an electric gate. The location is very rural and quiet, but within easy reach of supermarkets and towns, which suited us. The house is large with lots of different sleeping options so you a few families can go together. The owner and manager are very helpful and were just a phone call away to ensure our stay was going well. Highly recommend Manoir du Teuran. We would love to go again.

  • Very relaxing weekend

Just perfect for a weekend of beautiful nature! Very beautifully furnished and excellent dining room, we loved the selection of wines too. The perfect place for a wedding, for a time with friends or family!!

  • Amazing!

    The Manoir is excellent!

  • Fantastic venue for a large group holiday

Posted by Anon User on 08/09/2014

We stayed here recently for 6 nights; there were 26 of us in our group (17 adults, 8 children (3y - 8y) and 1 baby. We booked the house (and the two separate villas) only one week before our holiday, having been let down by another chateau owner at the last minute. The house is beautiful, the grounds excellent and everybody had a lot of fun in the swimming pool. We had a fantastic time here and would definitely recommend it. There is a vey good dining area in the house, but we preferred to eat outside every day - there is lots of space and more than enough tables for kids and adults to eat at (there is a good canopied area too). Similar to other comments, it took us a while to sort out the room allocations (which involved moving beds about), but that was easily done. It was really hot during the week that we stayed and the second floor was quite warm, but the families staying up there bought a couple of fans and that helped. The second floor is perfect for children aged 5 upwards - there is also a fantastic dressing up box on this floor, with loads of different outfits, which all of the kids loved trying on (although sometimes a bit too early and noisly!).

One night, we used the local caterers recommended by Regis (the owner) - cost 22 euros per person and the food that they delivered was superb (and lots of it); this option is highly recommended if you want to have a formal dinner one night.

Only negative observations are as follows:-

the kitchen was a bit dirty when we arrived, so we spent a bit of time cleaning everything. Not a big deal though.

We booked the entire house at short notice. Unfortunately, it would appear that other guests had also booked to stay at the house on different nights during the week (most bookings through booking.com), so we frequently had people turning up saying that they had booked a room at the house etc. We then had to explain that we had a booking for the entire house, and they invariably had to contact Regis or Didier (Regis's manager) to arrange alternative accommodation at another place that Regis owned nearby. This happened on 8 or 9 occasions and whilst everyone that turned up (and subsequently left) was pleasant and understanding about it, it wasnt ideal.

On the Thursday and Friday of our stay, some contractors turned up to get things ready for a wedding reception that was taking in the adjacent building on the saturday that we were leaving. This didnt cause us a real problem, except that they would occasionally come round the back of our house into the garden to check where they could put stuff (they tried to take a couple of tables on one occasion). They also tested the wedding sound system on the Friday night, and this was too loud and went on too long (from 6.30pm til after 8pm), which was annoying when we were trying to settle the kids and put our baby daughter to bed.

Finally, the location is excellent, both for Magny Cours, Pouilly (great wine tasting) and lots of other surrounding villages and towns that are worth exploring.

Overall, the negative comments didnt detract from a truly memorable holiday (the rating would have been excellent were it not for the above comments). Regis is a charming man and was always available to help us with questions or resolve any problems (we couldnt get wi-fi to work though). If Regis couldnt help, then Didier was also equally helpful (although he only spoke french).
