Feel at home in this pretty Burgundian house just a short walk away from the lovely market town of Chagny and close to Beaune, the wine-capital of this alluring region.
This is a perfect setting with glorious landscaped gardens surrounding the home and swimming pool as well as vineyards beyond. Inside the pristine interiors are beautifully cared for by its loving owners and there’s a warm and homely feel throughout. On the upper ground floor, a bright living-dining room is wonderful in all seasons with the cosy fireplace for winter evenings and French windows opening out to the south-facing terrace in the summer. On this floor the two charming double bedrooms also have doors leading to the garden whilst there is a twin bedroom and a study with a sofa-guest to provide further comfort for guests.
Outside, enjoy the private gardens are mature and full of summer colour, a delight for playing or simply relaxing with your morning coffee and the sound of the birds. Around the rear of the maison you’ll find the inviting swimming pool, great for lazy afternoons at home cooling off in tranquil surroundings plus a great pool house too.
On a Sunday morning you can wander into town to discover the vibrant atmosphere of the wonderful weekly market in Chagny, only a 20-minute walk away. Pick up amazing local produce in the region’s best market to create a Burgundian feast back at home. Food-lovers should also reserve a table at Maison Lameloise, a 100-year old restaurant which boasts three Michelin stars!
This is of course the land of some of Burgundy’s finest wines across the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune region. The wine-capital of Burgundy, Beaune, is just 20km away with its incredible historical buildings, wonderful restaurants and numerous wineries. The villages and vineyards of the famous wine-road, Route des Grands Crus, are also within a short drive such as Pommard, Puligny-Montrachet and Meursault.
For a change of scene, hire bikes and follow the picturesque towpath by the nearby Canal du Centre or find perfect fishing spots near the town. You can also ride horses with views of the vineyards near Beaune, hike through the stunning countryside and take a hot-air balloon ride over the landscapes of this magnificent region.

Maison Du Marché is set in beautiful landscaped gardens with vineyards to the front of the house, just outside the small Burgundy town of Chagny and close to historic Beaune.
You can wander into Chagny (2km) is about 20 minutes walk. It’s a lovely town which is especially famous for its Sunday morning market which is known to be one of the best in the area. There are also numerous restaurants, shops and supermarkets in the town. Food-lovers will especially appreciate Maison Lameloise, a 100-year old restaurant which boasts three Michelin stars. In July and August local wine-makers come to the town to host wine-tastings on a Sunday morning.
The town also has its own train station, a 20-minute walk from Maison Du Marché, with departures to many places including Beaune and Dijon.
It’s a town with some interesting historical features with its 13th century church a listed monument. This region is popular with nature lovers as well - if you love walking or cycling, head to the town’s canal, part of the Canal du Centre, within a short stroll where you can follow picturesque towpaths and boats plus there is some fantastic fishing nearby.
Also within a short drive or train ride away is the famous capital of this wine-producing region, Beaune (20km), where you can visit the amazing Hospices de Beaune, one of France’s most stunning historical buildings. Don’t miss the great market on Wednesday and Saturday mornings and food-lovers should also try and get to one of the many Michelin starred establishments in the town and surrounding wine villages.
You are also perfectly positioned to travel Burgundy’s famous wine road, Route des Grands Crus, which includes villages such as Puligny-Montrachet (7km), Pommard (15km), Volnay (14km), Meursault (12km) as well as idyllic vineyards across the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune region where wine tastings can of course be arranged.
Furthermore, just 45-minutes by car is Autun (45km), founded by the Romans and full of historical sights, including a beautiful cathedral in the old town as well as a lovely central square which hosts a market on a Wednesday and Friday morning. There are hot-air balloon rides leaving from Autun, an amazing way to see some of the breath-taking vistas around you.
Dijon (65km), just under an hour away (or forty minutes by train), is a historical town with a delightful old quarter and of course famous mustard stores whilst Cluny (60km) to the south is a stunning medieval village most famous for its abbey, a National Monument of France, once the largest in the western world.
Within an hour you can also be entering the incredible Parc Naturel Régional du Morvan where you can discover woodlands, streams and waterfalls, gentle rolling hills and hidden villages. This region is perfect for hikers, horse-riders and cyclists and there’s a great variety of watersports on one of the lakes or rivers.
