Nestled in the heart of hidden Burgundy, this beautiful home offers not only an incredible place to stay but also a wealth of memorable experiences arranged by the hospitable owner.
Dating back to the 17th Century, this historical farmhouse used to be part of a nearby Château, yet it has now been transformed into an elegant and welcoming holiday home. Enter through the magnificent oak doors, designed by the owner and made by local artisans, into the vast living and dining space. Full of warmth and light, the traditional flag stone floors and a cast-iron wood burner perfectly complement the sumptuous velvet sofas and contemporary open-plan kitchen with its duo wine-cellar. Dine around the huge oak table, created by the owner and her carpenter, the perfect place to enjoy amazing feasts with loved ones.
There are five individually styled bedrooms, full of colour and character, four of which are upstairs via the locally crafted stone staircase. With super-king sized double or twin beds, fresh crisp linen and en-suite bath or shower rooms, every comfort has been thought of in this delightful abode.
Step into the courtyard full of summer flowers, a relaxed al-fresco dining table and a pretty water feature, the perfect place for morning coffee and pastries, leisurely lunches or simply sipping local wine under the clear skies at night. In a second courtyard is the magnificent heated swimming pool where you can spend lazy summer afternoons in majestic surroundings.
Yet this home is more than just a perfect place to stay, the wonderful owner is also on hand to create unforgettable experiences for her guests. A well-regarded chef, she can cook for you or take you to the local markets to buy fresh, local ingredients and give you hands-on cooking lessons in your lovely, professional kitchen.
She also has exclusive access to some of the finest vineyards in Burgundy, not only in the surrounding Côte D'Or region but also as far north as Chablis, Irancy, Coulanges Le Vineuse and Saint. Bris and south to Côte de Nuits and Beaune. Whether it’s a private tour, exquisite lunch or home-made picnic in the vineyards, the owner can arrange a unique wine-tasting experience like no other.
It’s just a short stroll down the lane by the stream to the charming local village with its bakery and little bistro. Hire bikes from La Ferme Gourmande and cycle along the beautiful Burgundy canal or take in the landscapes of woods, valleys and vineyards around you.
The more adventurous can head to the Parc Naturel Régional du Morvan for mountain biking, hiking and watersports on the river and lakes whilst golf lovers must experience the prestigious course with lunch at Château de Chailly.
You may simply prefer to visit some of the idyllic local villages and towns, especially on market day, such as Semur-en-Auxois, Saulieu and Noyers, not forgetting the fantastic city of Dijon with its particularly vibrant market designed by Gustav Eiffel.
Whether exploring this remarkable region, relaxing with friends and family or celebrating a special occasion, this 400-year old farmhouse is sure to be the place to create some amazing memories.
