Sandringham Stay

New to the collection, The Water Tower at Sandringham joins The Folly at Sandringham and The Gardens House at Sandringham as one of just three holiday homes available to book within Sandringham Estate, each with its own distinct connection to this historic Royal setting.

The Water Tower was built in 1877 to provide fresh water to Sandringham House and the wider Estate. Today, the striking Victorian tower has been restored as a romantic retreat for two, with scenic views across the Norfolk countryside.

The Folly is a turreted woodland retreat with William Morris wallpaper, arched entryways and plenty of period features throughout.

The Gardens House is an elegant Edwardian home once occupied by the Estate’s Head Gardener, with generous rooms, period details and an inviting sense of comfort.

All three holiday homes have been thoughtfully restored to preserve their original character while offering a luxurious base for couples, families and friends, as well as pet-friendly stays in Norfolk.

Eating at Sandringham is as much a part of the experience as wandering its parkland or stepping inside its historic homes.

The Sandringham Restaurant is relaxed and welcoming, serving breakfast through to late lunch. Expect hearty plates, seasonal dishes and family-friendly menus built around fresh, comforting flavours.

On Sundays, the Courtyard Restaurant serves a traditional Sunday lunch with comforting British classics.

Afternoon Tea is served on Chelsea Botanical porcelain – a design favoured by Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother – and brings together delicate cakes and sandwiches with teas blended on the Estate. Choose the Classic or add a glass of Prosecco. Children’s teas are available too.

For something lighter, the Terrace Café and Stables Café serve lunches, takeaway bites and cakes.

Local Area

Sandringham is beautifully placed for exploring North Norfolk. Holkham, Brancaster and Wells-next-the-Sea bring wide sandy beaches, dunes, saltmarshes and big skies, while Holkham Hall, Blickling and Houghton Hall add grand architecture, gardens and centuries of local history.

Wildlife is another highlight, from the spectacular birdlife at RSPB Snettisham to seal-watching trips at Blakeney and the wetlands of Pensthorpe. Nearby villages including Dersingham, Snettisham and Great Massingham offer cosy pubs, local shops and a glimpse of traditional Norfolk life.

Sandringham’s calendar includes food experiences, guided tours, family activities and seasonal events across the Estate.

  • Year-round and regular experiences include daily Afternoon Tea at 3pm, Sunday Lunch from 12.30pm to 2.30pm, Sandringham parkrun every Saturday at 9am, and Community Coffee Mornings every Friday from 9.30am to 11am.

  • For a deeper look at the Estate, A Royal Country Retreat – Signature Tour runs on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, offering an exclusive guided private tour of Sandringham House and Gardens, including rooms not previously open to visitors. On Wednesdays, A Royal Working Estate – Safari Tour explores the Estate by Land Rover Defender and includes Afternoon Tea, while A Royal Garden Re-Imagined offers a 1.5-hour guided tour of His Majesty The King’s Gardens.

  • Seasonal highlights include Mini Golf on weekends and during school holidays, Family Archery from June to October, Family Forest School on selected school holiday dates, and the House and Gardens open season from March to October.

Kids

Sandringham makes family stays easy, with plenty of space to explore and activities right on the doorstep.

Children can make the most of the large outdoor play area, walking and cycling trails, and Mini Golf at weekends and during school holidays. Seasonal activities bring something different throughout the year, with Family Archery, Forest School, creative workshops and garden adventures among the programme.

Beyond the Estate, nearby beaches are perfect for paddling, picnics and sandcastle building, while the Royal Parkland gives little ones plenty of room to roam.
