The villa is furnished to meet all of your requirements whilst on holiday and utilises the area's natural light. It's also wonderfully spacious and airy so that even when indoors, you may feel you're outside – if not for the comfort! The villa is idyllic all year round but makes a beautiful choice during the sightlier chillier Spring and Autumn months thanks to its under-floor heating and heated pool.

Perfect for privacy, there's also an exclusive glamour to the villa for those who enjoy a taste of luxury. This villa is part of a twin house but utterly at your party's disposal. Your private parking lot can house three vehicles. Surrounded by sunchairs, you can enjoy being by the pool while the little ones splash and play. A unique property feature is its terrace roof which you can control and decide whether you'd like it to be closed or open.

Outdoor living is a huge part of the Med's charm and Croatia is the perfect place to try out this al fresco way of life. Grilling outdoors is a delightful way to spend the time. With a fenced in terrace, the privacy of the property is certain.

The villa sprawls across two floors, and you'll find everything conducive to making yourself entirely at home. The kitchen is fully equipped with all you need to prepare delightful meals, and the living and dining area has a comfortable leather sofa, large television and access to the outdoor terrace and pool.

Take the staircase to the first floor, where you'll find three bedrooms and two bathrooms. Here you truly can indulgently relax when the nights wind in.

Comfort is queen at the villa, and you can enjoy full air conditioning throughout. Set up with an integrated air conditioning unit, the air you breathe indoors will always be fresh. You can open or close the blinds at your whim depending on how much light you prefer. You can also enjoy the striking ambient lights which add a lovely, picturesque quality to the villa particularly at night.

What you should know…

  • The area is known for prioritising peace, but should you want some adventure, nightlife, water sports and the bridge to the mainland are all within reach.
  • Ensure you have some Croatian cash on your person especially if you venture into more remote villages and towns.
  • The area is popular with tourists but if you can learn a line or two of Croatia, it’ll get you far. An easy one to remember is ‘zdravo' which means hello.

Croatia is an enigmatic and evocative travel destination that has serenaded travellers from far and wide. It’s even sparked multiple invasions during its long history. Today, it’s a far more peaceful place endowed with natural beauty, a gorgeous climate, fantastic food and all the culture and history you can handle. It’s also perfectly pretty.

Your home will be the island of Krk, a striking and rather large island located in the northern Adriatic Sea, which is interconnected with the mainland of Croatia via a bridge. As a large island, there’s plenty to do here without even needing to leave for the mainland.

Krk Cathedral, a 5th-century beauty, is a must-see. The Frankopan Castle is another hugely popular tourist draw. On a tiny dot of an island known as Košljun Island, you can visit a Franciscan monastery. But the area is perhaps most renowned for its many beaches, as you might expect for an island. Whether you enjoy hiking, sunbathing, swimming, snorkelling, or exploring somewhere slightly unusual and offbeat, Krk has all the above and more. Oprna Bay offers wonderful hiking opportunities, and Crikvenica Beach and Podvorska Beach are ideal for families. Further afield, Vela Luka is an absolute dream if you wish to explore a more remote area with endless aquatic life.

Haludovo Beach is a hidden gem that includes the ruins of a majestic old hotel. The crumbly decadence can be quite ensnaring. If you enjoy canyons with your beaches (and why not?) Vrženica is a promising choice, whilst Sveti Grgur is a vast natural haven formerly known for its women’s prison during Yugoslav rule.

Croatia is all about outdoor living, whether you prefer to relax or tap into some adrenaline. Ziplining, water sports, kayaking and canoeing are all wonderful options for those who wish to feel their blood pumping. You can also hike and take in some gorgeous views of the island – Obzova for the island itself and Svežanj Bay for sea views. For a charming hike, the love path is a delightful family jaunt.

Croatia is renowned for its wines, and there are many vineyards and wineries across the country. If you wish to sample some delicious local wines, Vrbnik is a good option. For something more mysterious, the cave of Biserujka, located close to the village of Rudine makes for a worthwhile trip.

Food is part of the pulse of life in Croatia – languishing lovingly over delightful dishes for hours is a given and something you can enjoy. There are restaurants, tavernas and bars all over the island – one place that combines decadent dining with astonishing island views is Nada – a great way to try some local delicacies, including fresh seafood, which is plentiful across the island.

Region

Krk, the largest island in the Kvarner Gulf, offers visitors an enchanting blend of natural beauty and vibrant culture. This island paradise, with its captivating landscapes, historic towns, and warm Mediterranean climate, has rightly earned its reputation as one of Croatia's top tourist destinations.

Krk's rugged and diverse geography is a significant part of its appeal. The island boasts a picturesque coastline with countless coves, bays, and pristine beaches to explore. For those looking to relax and unwind, Krk’s beautiful, serene beaches Baska Beach and Malinska Beach are perfect spots to unwind. The calm, crystal-clear waters and warm sun provide an ideal setting for a peaceful day by the sea.

The Adriatic Sea provides the perfect playground for water sports enthusiasts - kayaking, windsurfing and jet-skiing are all popular activities around the island. The crystal-clear waters are also perfect for snorkelling and diving. Many tour operators on the island offer family-friendly excursions where you can explore the underwater world and observe marine life together. Krk also has several marinas, making it a popular stop for sailors and boaters exploring the Adriatic.

Krk’s landscape also includes lush greenery and rolling hills, ideal for hiking and cycling. Numerous bike paths and trails wind through the miles of untouched nature. Whether you're an experienced cyclist or a novice, you can explore the island at your own pace or join one of the many bike tours on offer, enjoying the fresh air and breathtaking scenery. The serene countryside offers splendid vistas, and the scents of Mediterranean herbs like rosemary and lavender fill the air.

The city of Krk, the island's main hub, is a charming blend of history and modernity. The well-preserved ancient city walls and medieval architecture are a testament to its storied past. One of the most iconic landmarks is the Frankopan Castle, a magnificent fortress that dates back to the 12th century. The island also boasts numerous churches and chapels, including the Cathedral of St. Mary, which features Romanesque and Gothic elements, and the small church of St. Donatus, one of the oldest on the island.

Krk's culinary scene is a rooted in the Croatian lifestyle, emphasising locally sourced ingredients and flavours. The island's cuisine is known for its use of olive oil, fresh seafood, and an array of herbs. In the picturesque towns and villages, you'll find cozy family-run restaurants and taverns offering hearty traditional dishes like "šurlice," a homemade pasta, and "pašticada," a slow-cooked beef stew. The island is also renowned for its sheep cheese, such as “šur", and the exceptional local wine "Žlahtina," which pairs perfectly with the island’s fresh seafood. Dining in a konoba, a traditional Croatian tavern, allows you to savour the essence of Krk's cuisine while enjoying the warm hospitality of the locals.

While Krk itself has so much to offer, it also serves as a gateway to explore the wider Kvarner region and the nearby islands. A short ferry ride connects Krk to Cres, Rab, and other smaller islands, each with their own unique charm and attractions. The proximity to the mainland makes it easy to embark on day trips to cities like Rijeka and Opatija, famous for their historic architecture and buzzing cultural scenes.

Krk offers a diverse range of experiences for travellers seeking natural beauty, history, culture, and delicious cuisine. With its rich history, warm hospitality, and breathtaking landscapes, Krk has rightfully earned its place as one of Croatia's top tourist destinations. Whether you're looking for adventure, relaxation, or a cultural experience, this “Golden Island” island has it all.

Croatia is perfectly set up for families. It offers all of the 'typical' criteria a holidaymaker may seek, sun, sea & sand, but with Croatia, you can also expect lashings of culture, history, and tradition. This combination elevates the trip from being just a beach holiday – instead, it's an immersion into a truly beautiful way of life in a remarkable part of the world.

The island of Krk, where you'll be based, is one of the largest in the northern Adriatic Sea and is connected to the mainland of Croatia by a bridge. You can indulge in island life but also head into the country's core should you want to. To experience the area's history, you should plot the Krk Cathedral, Frankopan Castle and Košljun Island on your itinerary – here, you can explore an ancient Franciscan monastery.

Unsurprisingly, one of the key draws of Krk island is its many beaches. There are a plethora to choose from dependent on your desires. For example, Oprna is a beautiful beach and there's ample hiking in the area too. Crikvenica Beach and Podvorska Beach are popular with families making them ideal should you wish for your little ones to explore and make friends in a safe and welcoming environment. For those of you who wish for greater seclusion, more nature, and an abundance of aquatic life, snorkelling in Vela luka comes highly recommended.

For adventurous activities, you could partake in ziplining, a wonderful way to explore the island from a height, or enjoy water sports, explore the Adriatic and some of its neighbouring islands by boat, or enjoy kayaking or canoeing. There are some glorious hikes to be had. Head to Obzova for island views and Svežanj Bay for dreamy blue seas. The enchantingly named love path makes for a great trail too.

The Biserujka Cave is undoubtedly one of the island’s best family attractions. Found in Rudine village, this will give you an underground adventure and a little respite from the hot sun. The cave is an important site as it hosts a variety of wildlife such as crustaceans and beetles. Be sure to get there early, as this popular attraction gets busy during the day.

Also great for nature-loving kids, Baška Aquarium offers a diverse array of creatures from the Adriatic. Another aquarium can be found in Krk, along with a terrarium where you can see lizards, snakes and the like, while the aquarium itself has fish species from all over the world.

All sorts of sporting activities can be enjoyed on Krk too, including mini-golf, table tennis and beach volleyball. Still, the one which will provide the most spectacular view is surely the Edison Zipline. Once you’ve been trained up, you will be taken by jeep to the start of the course, which, as the highest point, offers a wonderful overview of the south of the island and the Adriatic Sea.
