The Broughton Hall Estate was established in 1097 and has been home to the Tempest family, one of England’s oldest Catholic landed gentry families, for over nine hundred years. With continual transformation and a mission to be a regenerative space rooted in the nature and wellbeing of humanity and the planet, the estate is now known as Broughton Sanctuary. The three thousand acre estate offers ancient woodland, parkland, heather moorland, reservoirs, walking trails, historic formal gardens, a luxury wellbeing centre, gym and an endless list of special attractions and entertainment venues. There is a wonderful hospitality team who will be on hand to attend to your every whim. In house chefs can create delicious meals and upscale events. The Tempest Family are believed to have come to England from Normandy during William Conqueror’s 1066 invasion of England and were given land in the aftermath of the invasion. Roger Tempest, the current custodian of Broughton Sanctuary is the thirty second generation of Tempests to be custodian of the sanctuary.
Valemount enjoys a fantastic location in the charming village of Broughton, less than ten minutes from the popular market town of Skipton. Skipton is often referred to as the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The town hosts an award-winning market every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday throughout the year. It boasts the medieval Skipton Castle, a beautiful old parish church, excellent boutiques, unique shops, fabulous restaurants and charming traditional pubs. Skipton has previously been named as ‘Britain’s best place to live’ by the Sunday Times. The town is surrounded by spectacular landscapes including the iconic curved limestone cliff of Malham Cove, as seen in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Steam railways are available from Embsay and Bolton Abbey and the Leeds to Liverpool Canal passes through Skipton. The amazing cathedral City of Ripon, Harrogate, York, the breathtaking Howardian Hills, the North Yorkshire Moors National Park and the Lake District are all within easy reach.
Within the attractive stone walls of Valemount lies a seriously modern, seriously bright and airy, luxurious holiday home. The living room is absolutely stunning. It features a vibrant red wood burning stove which you can crank up if a rural chill descends on the evening. There are other wonderful colour splashes with colourful artwork, gorgeous scatter cushions and some bright furniture. The kitchen diner is drowned in natural light. It comes with excellent stainless steel appliances including a range cooker, a butler’s sink and a modern glass dining table and chairs. There is a formal dining room too that features a curved ceiling, feature wallpaper, a warm colourful rug and a traditional table and chairs. The ground floor also offers a reading area, a smart family bathroom and two bedrooms, both with beautifully dressed, sumptuous double beds and access to the terrace and garden. There are some lovely trendy features such as open hanging space rather than formal wardrobes.
The first floor of Valemount is home to three further bedrooms and two bathrooms. The lavish master is a stunning room with a double bed, beams that soar above you adding a cathedral air to this charming space and wonderful garden and estate views. The second bedroom also offers a double bed and the last rooms, a double and a single, share a Jack and Jill bathroom. Guests staying in the master and second double share an immaculate family bathroom. All of the bathrooms in the house enjoy the very best of fittings.
This wonderfully attractive house is surrounded by a private garden where you will feel the tranquility fold around you as you relax in absolute peace and quiet. There is a lovely seating circle with a fire pit and a fabulous hot tub for an indulgent dip.
