Woodland Retreat holds a wonderful location in the popular village of Ahakista within beautiful West Cork. Two characterful pubs and the coastline are reachable within walking distance while the town of Bantry is just a twenty-minute car journey away and boasts a variety of helpful amenities, including shops and restaurants. This rugged coastline is perfect for those wishing to explore the great outdoors, either on foot, by bike or even by boat.
The eco-friendly home features contemporary interiors throughout and can comfortably accommodate up to eleven guests across its five beautifully-appointed bedrooms. Woodland Retreat makes an ideal setting for a family reunion or special getaway with plenty of room for the whole group to socialise, the living accommodation is spacious, comprising of a sitting room, dining room and a fully-equipped kitchen. The first of the bedrooms, a king-size double, and an adjacent shower room are set on the ground floor, making Woodland Retreat a good option for those who struggle with lots of stairs. Upstairs, on the first floor is a luxurious sauna, the ideal spot to warm up after a long coastline walk! Also on this level are the remaining four bedrooms, two king-size double rooms both boasting en-suite shower rooms. A family room with both a double bed and an additional single as well as a twin room, share the use of a family bathroom.
Outside, the home is set within five acres of grounds with private woodlands and a riverbank, ideal for long strolls. After exciting days spent exploring the surrounding area, the elevated terrace makes the perfect place to enjoy a delicious meal al fresco, afterwards, guests can indulge in a long relaxing soak in the hot tub.

About the surrounding area of Woodland RetreatWoodland Retreat is situated in the tranquil village of Ahakista, the sleepy seaside village is home to two pubs, Arundels by the Pier and The Tin Pub, both are within walking distance of the home. Every August bank holiday weekend, Ahakista Regatta draws a large number of visitors in to the area and features a quiz hosted by the TV personality and Author, Graham Norton. On the edge of Ahakista is a Memorial Garden dedicated to those who died in the Air India terrorist attack in 1985. The market town of Bantry, which is home to a variety of shops and restaurants, is conveniently located just a 20-minute drive away. Be sure to visit Bantry on Fridays for market day where you will find excellent local artisan food on sale!
The home is ideal for keen walkers, one of the most popular routes is the Sheep’s Head Way walk, a 93km trail which starts in Bantry and ends at Sheep’s Head Peninsula. Here you’ll find the Sheep’s Head lighthouse and stunning views northwards across Bantry bay – some lucky individuals may even spot dolphins or whales! For those short on time, it is possible to drive most of the route too.

The location of this house is perfect!
This is our second year to come to Woodland Retreat & we will be back next year & 2025!
We loved the comfort of the house , the hottub, the sauna, BBQ, firepit & outdoor seating for breakfast every morning .
The location of this house is perfect for all the hiking , swimming & drinking we did!
We loved the Tin Pub & Arundels restaurant.
And luckily we got the most amazing weather for the week.
The owners have been perfect hosts - we cannot thank them enough.

Wow where do you start!
We consider our selves so lucky to have found this lovely hideaway in West Cork.
The local beach & pier were both a short stroll from the house ,both great spots for swimming .
The children had such great fun exploring the woodlands , the elevated view from the patio area allowing you to keep a watchful eye .
Outside has all you could wish for fire pit , BBQ, pizza oven , spacious seated patio area .
We had so many great evenings, chatting around the fire pit.
We can't wait to return for our next break -

Had a fabulous holiday here in Ahakista ! Weather was superb and Woodland Retreat was exceptional in terms of comfort, style , size and grounds.

A special place
We were extremely happy with the house in Ahakista. It really is a special place and the whole experience was fantastic. The house itself is beautifully finished and really comfortable, and the grounds make it extra special. The hosts were very warm and welcoming when we arrived, and eager to help throughout.

Simply fantastic!
This house and gardens are simply fantastic. The rooms were spotless, the gardens amazing and the hot tub was the highlight for our teenagers. I would highly recommend a stay here. The local bar Arundels on the Pier is literally 5 mins walk away, with great food and views out accross the bay.
You have everything you need for the perfect family holiday.

What a place!
A beautiful 5 bed house, with indoor sauna and outdoor hottub. All mod con. It's location is the show stopper though. Set in a private woodland site, this is a kids wonderland.
Couldn't recommend it highly enough.
