Villa Syrna is a characteristic 2-bedroom house, perfect for an away-from-it-all, romantic and peaceful escape. This holiday is as far away from mass tourism as one could get, yet has the creature comforts we have all come to expect and enjoy. The villa is in a stunning setting in the forests of the Bozburun Peninsula with easy access to beaches, villages, and tiny harbours.

Villa Syrna was built in 2017 using traditional local stone, by the charming Turkish owner, Ayhan, who we have known for many years. Ayhan is a qualified guide and is happy to offer private guided adventures - be they on foot, or by car - around the unspoilt peninsula or further afield to breath-taking sites like Ephesus or Aphrodisias.

The villa is laid out over one floor. Enter a large open-plan room with sitting, kitchen, and dining areas. The room benefits from a double-height ceiling, with windows providing an incredible view across the valley to the sea in the distance. The interiors feature a lot of natural wood and fabrics, furnishings are comfortable with traditional Turkish style. The two bedrooms, a twin, and a double, are located to either side of the living area, with a family shower/ WC between.

Doors open onto an alfresco dining terrace, and pool area, again enjoying amazing views across the village to the mountains. The pool is infinity style with water cascading over the edge. The is cool jacuzzi built from stone, perfect to sit in and enjoy the view with a glass of wine.  The area looks down over terraces of wild ground down the hillside.

A car is essential to explore the local area, an area that has only recently been discovered by Turkey's domestic tourism.  This is the perfect villa for a taste of real Turkey, either for couples or a small family and the perfect away from it all romantic and peaceful escape.

If you're a larger family or two families travelling together, Villa Gulseren is close by.

What Oliver loves...

  • At Villa Syrna you'll certainly be at one with nature. Of an evening, sit in the jacuzzi turn the house lights off and watch the stars.
  • Turkish owner, Ayhan lives nearby and is on-hand to attend to you. Ayhan is also a qualified guide, and offers private, guided adventures – on foot or by car – from your doorstep, through the wilds of the unspoilt Bozburun Peninsula and beyond.
  • A visit to the villages Pide salon is not to be missed, best to go of an evening as very few, if any tourists around.
  • Definitely visit Selimiye for the best seafood, or hearty Turkish breakfast, after your meal have a walk along the prom, browsing in the fabulous little shops.
  • For larger groups, or two families Villa Gulseren is very close to Villa Syrna
  • The owner leaves a generous hamper of food for your arrival

What you should know

  • Villa Syrna enjoys a wonderfully remote location, but is ideally positioned to explore the villages and beaches of the Bozburun Peninsula. It’s 3km from Bayir with mini markets and restaurants. A car is recommended.
  • Village life comes with many sounds such as the 5 times daily call from the mosque and the cockeral calling or maybe a chicken wandering around. A benefit of the latter is amazing fresh eggs; which, if requested, the owner can deliver for you!
  • Whilst the villa is available year round, perfect if you want do enjoy walks etc in the area, but please note the pool is not heated
