Muz Evi is an attractive one-bedroom villa in the rolling hills just outside the picturesque resort city of Marmaris in Turkey. Situated in a tranquil spot on the side of a valley, the villa is secluded and private and offers magnificent views across the pine-clad forest. You’re 6km from the centre of Marmaris where you’ll find local restaurants, a popular sandy beach and seafront promenade.

The villa elegantly combines traditional Mediterranean architecture with cool contemporary interiors. Outside, the building is charming with whitewashed walls and red-terracotta tile roofs, while inside the rooms are light, airy and spacious with cream-coloured furnishings. From the cotton curtains to the handwoven kilim carpets, all the materials used in Muz Evi are locally sourced.

The villa is designed for a home-from-home experience with a fully-equipped kitchen including a cooker, dishwasher and washing machine. All rooms are fully air-conditioned, and there’s unlimited Wi-Fi throughout your total comfort. You’ll also find a TV, DVD and CD player to keep you entertained on chilled evenings in and an electric BBQ for dining outside in the warm weather.

There’s a main double bedroom with an en-suite bathroom, alongside a sofa bed in the lounge and a separate shower and toilet. Sit back and relax in the inviting lounge with a traditional fireplace as the centrepiece – made from locally quarried white marble – or eat breakfast and sip your coffee on the comfortable dining table and chairs. There’s also an al fresco dining area on the terrace outside.

Making the most of the tranquil setting, there’s an outdoor pool and a terrace area with furniture and umbrellas – perfect for sun-lounging in peace or enjoying a refreshing drink after dinner. We must give an honourable mention to the Jacuzzi too, which looks out towards the forest greenery. An ideal location for couples or small families looking for a peaceful holiday, Muz Evi is close enough to the city, yet there’s just one farmhouse in the area so you can be assured of total privacy.

What you should know…

  • The villa is on a slope so it’s easier getting to the city than it is getting back
  • The owners have two other villas in the area, however the villa is surrounded by trees and is completely private
  • Marmaris is only 6km away, however we recommended hiring a car to exploring the less commercialised areas of this idyllic part of Turkey

maris Muz Evi is located 6km from the picturesque port city of Marmaris along the Turkish Riviera. Set in a secluded spot in pine-clad forests, the villa is perfect for scenic walks through the trees or exploring the surrounds with mountain bikes (the villa owners can arrange bike hire). If you enjoy fishing, you’re also within walking distance of a popular fishing spot.

From Muz Evi, you can walk 6km into Marmaris, or there’s a local dolmus (minibus) service which passes just 250 metres from the villa and runs between 8 am and 10 pm. Taxis cost around £15 one way and drivers are reachable by texting or phoning. If you prefer, owners at the villa can arrange car hire.
In Marmaris centre, you’ll find plenty of restaurants, shops and bars. You can stroll along the harbour lined with high-end yachts, haggle for local honey, traditional rugs or designer copies in the bazaar, or try the local cuisine. Look out for fresh seafood and meat kebabs. Marmaris also boasts a 16th-century castle and an archaeology museum with underwater excavated treasures that are worth a visit.

Nestling on the cusp of the Aegean and Mediterranean Seas, you’ll also find plenty of sandy swimming beaches in Marmaris and opportunity to go on diving trips to underwater caves (Marmaris boasts 52 top-notch diving spots). Charter-boat tours can whisk you to Dalyan or spots on the Bozburun Peninsula. Water sports such as scuba diving, jet-skiing and paragliding are favourites, or for a fun family-friendly day trip there’s a couple of water parks with slides and pools.

Marmaris & Bozburun

The South West coast of Turkey offers the perfect climate for your holiday, boasting over 280 dry days a year and an average June temperature of 28 degrees Celsius in this area, with sea temperatures of 23 deegress celsius.  For keen walkers the paths of the Carian way will take you around the area.

Sat on the site of the Carian city of Physkos, Marmaris started welcoming European tourists in the 1980’s. At the time big hotels were what the travel agents were selling. The surrounding areas remained unspoilt and in recent years villas have popped up in less touristic areas. Marmaris still has a picturesque vista and the areas around the harbour, Netsel Marina and the castle are worth a visit. The castle was reconstructed by Suleyman the Magnificent during his expedition against Rhodes and houses a small museum. You couldn’t find better places to try an authentic Doner Kebab than some of the restaurants behind the bazaar, or for a more sophisticated version go to the Baris Ustu Kebabci in the Netsel Marina.

The Bozburun Peninsula represents the real hidden Turkey. In recent years wealthier Turks have headed to these parts to enjoy the thyme-scented air that is said to be ultra-healthy due to being high in oxygen as a result of the trees and proximity to the sea Throughout the peninsula villagers live as their ancestors did a century ago, tilling the land of a small holding, keeping bees or working in ancient trades handed down through generations. The women work hard to keep house and land. Every village has a teahouse where you’ll see the men making business over a game of Tavla (backgammon), slowly drinking endless cups of crystal clear black Cay (tea), drunk out of tulip-shaped glasses. The peninsula has loads of lovely restaurants, simple but delicious food. Enjoy fish in Selimiye; choose mezes from the kitchen and wash it all down with a glass of Lion’s Milk, the slang for Turkish Raki, an aniseed spirit that becomes white when water is added.

Travelling around the peninsula, there’s Orhaniye where you can walk the sand spit, Turgut where you can see the ancient trade of carpet weaving and visit the waterfall to cool off, especially if you purchased a carpet. Sogut is a hidden gem, and where a long seafood lunch is the way to go. There is a bee ‘museum’ in Osmaniye which pays homage to the local production of pine honey. Turunc, Amos and Kumlubuk sit on the southeastern coast of the peninsula. Kumlubuk has a sweeping beach, and a sandy shingle, water-sports and a few restaurants. Amos has a smaller pebble beach and a popular restaurant selling a range of Turkish favourites. Turunc is more of a resort, with a few streets behind the beach, plenty of eateries, shops and bars. Give it a little time as it is somewhere people fall in love with. Further around is Icmeler, which merges into the bigger Marmaris.

Best Suited For: All Ages
Ideal for Teens

Marmaris is an ideal holiday destination for families with children due to its welcoming and vibrant atmosphere, cultural sites and sporting opportunities. You can visit the 16th-century castle, archaeology museum or walk to the ancient city Amos, where parts of its city walls remain.

The villa itself has a private pool and places for children to play in the shade. There’s also a TV, DVD and CD player. You’re within walking distance of a popular fishing spot and 6km from Marmaris.

In Marmaris, there are plenty of beautiful beaches with calm, clear waters that are ideal for swimming. You can go to Icmeler Beach, take a boat trip to Cleopatra Island, with soft golden sands surrounded by pine trees, or discover secluded coves – there are plenty to find. Kids can hop aboard a banana boat, go snorkelling and diving or take part in jet-skiing and paragliding. There are also three local water parks in the area with slides and pools.

On the Bozburun peninsula, as well as lots of traditional villages there is a  honey museum showing all about the local production of honey and the local carpet weavers association.

  • Mountain Paradise

    Posted by TF on 31/10/2017

Villa was of excellent standard and maintained to a high standard. The interior was very tasteful and well decorated. The owner was very helpful in all aspects of local information and was not intrusive in anyway while we stayed there, but was available if required at a drop of a hat.
The pool was excellent and the Jacuzzi was fab. The room was relaxing and the bed was comfortable.
We did not have a car and although the villa was up in the mountains –views were stunning and quietness bliss-it did not stop at all getting to and from the villa what so ever.
I would recommend the villa and would like to thank the owner and not forgetting Bella (her dog) See you soon as we will be booking again.

Just returned from a week in Muz Evi. What can I say? Absolutely amazing. You have to experience it. Villa is in immaculate condition as is the pool, jacuzzi and outdoor space. Everything was thought of to make our stay special. The owner is welcoming and friendly and nothing is too much for her...even offering and giving us lifts into Marmaris. I cannot recommend this little gem enough.
Thank you. I'm sure we'll be back!!
