Villa Zeynep, one of two identical sister villas, offers a secluded and contemporary mountain retreat in the charming village of Islamlar. Despite its hidden location, it is conveniently only fifteen minutes away from the vibrant coastal town of Kalkan. This spacious two-bedroom villa, accommodating up to four guests, provides the perfect escape for those seeking peace and solitude.

The villa features charming whitewashed natural stone walls that enclose a meticulously sculpted garden. The private pool offers exceptional privacy, creating a serene space to relax and rejuvenate. Additionally, the villa's mountain location provides a pleasant breeze, particularly welcoming during the hottest months of July and August. Villa Zeynep provides a unique opportunity to experience the essence of the region while enjoying modern comforts and conveniences.

The villa's design maximizes its integration with the tranquil natural surroundings, blending seamlessly with the lush greenery. The architecture showcases a fresh and appealing style. Spanning two stories, the villa boasts large picture windows at the rear, framing views of the swimming pool, garden, and ancient olive trees. Inside, the decor exudes effortless chic, combining neutral pastel tones and white walls with slate grey fixtures and fittings.

While cooking may not be on your holiday agenda, the contemporary Italian-style kitchen is fully equipped should you wish to indulge in creating scrumptious meze dishes. The open-plan living area provides a comfortable and relaxing space to unwind. The villa promotes a harmonious flow between indoor and outdoor living, with large glass doors seamlessly connecting the interior to the exterior. You can effortlessly enjoy the best of both worlds. Whether you choose to laze by the pool deck, relax in the shaded outdoor lounge, or savor a meal prepared on the built-in barbecue, Villa Zeynep caters to your every whim.

The sleeping quarters are located on the far side of the villa, spread across the ground and first floors. A staircase leads to the romantic galleried master bedroom with an en-suite bathroom. Outside, a comfortably furnished corner balcony offers splendid mountain views. The second master bedroom, located downstairs, is equally elegant and spacious, featuring a generously sized freestanding jacuzzi bath and doors opening onto the pool terrace.

Villa Zeynep promises the ultimate relaxation experience. Embrace the tranquility and privacy of the villa or venture out to explore the rustic mountain village life and awe-inspiring vistas that encompass it.

Islamlar, near Kalkan, is very much an escape from it all destination, offering a sense of authentic Turkish Village life within striking distance of the turquoise coast. Direct daily flights from the UK, an enjoyable 95-minute transfer together with a consistent Mediterranean climate make this region one of the most desirable choices for your well-deserved vacation. This rural corner has remained very much untouched for centuries, with agricultural traditions being the beating heart of the local community. Islamlar is a quintessential rural settlement within a fifteen minute drive of the picture-postcard and elegant harbour town of Kalkan, famed for its charming, cobbled passageways, archetypal waterfront, and seriously chic roof terrace restaurants.

Perched on the foothills of the Taurus range, the landscape adopts a lusher tone than nearby Kalkan. The hillsides amok with vines, an abundance of fruit trees and a stream that runs down the valley, flanked by trout restaurants. Once a Greek settlement, and known locally as Bodemya, the area enjoys a calm breeze, created by the flowing spring waters which run off the mountains. Traditionally, it was popular for the wealthy merchants from Kalkan to maintain a second home here to escape the intense summer heat. The area is criss-crossed by the ancient Lycian way, a demanding walking trail affording some of the most scenic panoramic vistas you can imagine.

The village is dotted with intriguing small restaurants, servicing the local community and villa trade, many of which enjoy sensational views across the valley below and beyond to Mouse and Snake islands. Enjoy the low key atmosphere and relaxingly refreshing ambience. The village still retains two working mills where villagers bring their grains to be turned into flower. Unwind to the soothing tune of the water mill while sipping on a chilled glass of wine from a vineyard local to the area. The fare is authentic, local, and bursting with flavour, produced on the fertile plains of the valley by self-sufficient locals.

Descend from the mountainous passes to the sparkling inky sea. A plethora of upmarket beach clubs ring the horseshoe bay where Kalkan proudly takes centre stage. This relaxing and well serviced concept makes it easy to spend time lingering and socialising by the water’s edge. Kaputas, is probably the most photographed beach in this southwestern corner of Turkey and is well worth a visit, just 10 minutes east of Kalkan. Venture, a similar distance in the other direction, west, to the ancient city of Patara. The beautiful golden sand is a breeding ground for the loggerhead turtles, strict conservation restrictions have ensured this 18 kilometre shoreline remains undeveloped. Behind the dunes we recommend you explore the ancient port which is possibly the most fascinating Lycian site in the region.

There is a myriad of interesting places to explore and time can easily be spent between relaxation and exploration on land or at sea. Whether you wish to visit ancient sites, sail on a traditional wooden gulet from cove to cove or enjoy an exhilarating morning of canyoning. There is something to be enjoyed by everyone. Islamlar is a fine base from which to explore the very best of the Turquoise Coast.

Islamlar

Islamlar sits 8 km above Kalkan. Once the place Kalkan folk went to cool off at one of the trout farms built to make use of the mountain’s springs. Today Islamlar houses many a villa, enjoyed by Istanbul Turks who prefer a holiday in slightly cooler and cleaner air. Here the locals grow grapes and pomegranates, but you’ll mainly see the men sat gossiping next to the local teahouse. The trout farms remain a place to come for a wonderful fresh meal, or a breakfast consisting of fresh local fare. The rocket will be the freshest & most tasty you’ve ever had; and the fresh chips cooked in olive oil take some beating.

Villa Zeynep and Villa Zeki are the perfect choice for multigenerational family holidays and groups of friends travelling together. Sitting side by side, they provide the opportunity for all Guests to have some quality time together while also providing some privacy when needed too. The walled swimming pool and gardens mean the children can roam freely and in view while you relax and enjoy. Days can easily be whiled away watching the children splashing in and out of the swimming pool while the large open plan indoor- outdoor living space is the perfect spot for long al fresco family dinners.

Villa Zeynep is a great base from which to explore the wider region. The area is cluttered with ancient historical sites which feel more like living museums and you are likely to be there entirely by yourselves: ancient amphitheatre and basilica arches lie as they fell and are even more special for it. Even those with little appetite for history will enjoy the enigmatic creatures and wildlife hidden in the arid scrublands. Little people will enjoy spotting curious insects as well as colourful butterflies.

Learning to cook Turkish cuisine in a rustic and authentic setting is another Kalkan holiday bucket list experience and it won’t be limited to a hundred dishes with aubergine! Local Gastronomists will take you on a guided tour through Turkey’s regional delicacies, vast and varied history and social customs. There will be the opportunity to pick the freshest of ingredients straight from the garden, meet local suppliers, roll your sleeves up and of course devour your culinary masterpiece.

Back down to the coast and a day on a traditional wooden gulet is likely to be the highlight of the holiday. This is the perfect way to explore the sparkling coastline, visiting quiet bays and tranquil coves. There are always plenty of stops for snorkelling, swimming and a leisurely lunch is usually served aboard too.

Whether you are seeking glorious beaches, exhilarating water sports or a quiet afternoon trek, this region very much has something to cater for all.
