Overview
Tiree Tea House is located amidst lush green gardens and gazes over the nearest beach. This large, two-storey home can sleep up to 16 guests in luxurious sea-view bedrooms. It offers plenty of living spaces and expansive gardens, perfect for those travelling with friends or extended family.
Tiree Tea House is the ideal choice if you are searching for a base for your trip to Southern Sri Lanka. This beautiful home offers simplistic, elegant interiors with teak wooden details and antique furnishings. The house has been carefully designed so that every room looks out towards the sea or inwards to a wonderful courtyard with a koi pond at its centre. The rooms here are whitewashed with tiny flecks of sea-blue in the soft furnishings to highlight the colours of the nearby ocean. The interiors are designed to work in harmony with the local surroundings rather than distracting from them.
On the ground floor, the heart of the home is the vast, open-plan living and dining space where guests can gather on the sofas or eat at the formal dining table. The room opens out to the garden and offers uninterrupted views. The kitchen is just next door and is fully equipped to meet the needs of a large group.Your meals will be prepared by an excellent chef who can make local dishes, international meals and sumptuous breakfasts to suit the needs of your group.
The bedrooms at the villa are spread over the two floors. All boast access to the terraces or gardens and have comfortable beds with crisp linen and a high-end en-suite bathroom. Two bedrooms are on the ground floor, while the remaining are on the first floor. All rooms are spacious doubles, aside from the fantastic children’s room, which has three sets of bunk beds so the kids can have a sleepover every night!
Outside, the house is enveloped by lawns and towering trees and has private access to an idyllic sandy beach. You will spend lots of time sipping cocktails on a sun lounger by the pool as the children play on the brilliant children’s playground. The pool house is a fantastic place to unwind in the shade on a hot day and is equipped with sofas and a guest WC.
When staying at Tiree Tea House, guests can book extra services and activities, such as massages, yoga classes or a personal trainer. You can also arrange trips and tours through the concierge team, including whale-watching tours, bike tours, boat trips, visits to local temples and surfing lessons.
Just a stone’s throw away from home, guests can access several beautiful beaches and visit towns such as Koggola, where you can sample local street food dishes and explore nearby attractions. A little further away, you can also visit the area’s capital, Galle, which is 12km away by car. Galle is packed with historic buildings and offers many amenities and eateries.

Location
About the surrounding area of Tiree Tea HouseSitting between jungle vegetation and the lapping waves of the Indian Ocean, Tiree Tea House is a wonderful base for exploring the towns, beaches and historic attractions in this part of Sri Lanka’s Southern Province.
Just a stone’s throw away from the house, you have private access to a sandy beach lined by towering palm trees. This is just one of many beaches in the local area, and you could also visit the unique Thalpe Beach, which is 2km away. This gorgeous beach is filled with rock pools cut out of the coral; these were once used for soaking coconut husks, but now people like to lounge in these and gaze out to sea. The beach also offers water sports and a range of shops and eateries for visitors. In the opposite direction along the coast, you can also visit coves where stilt fishermen can be seen at work.
There are many small villages and towns near Tiree Tea House, including Koggala, which is 8km away. In the town, you can find a charming folk museum, children’s playgrounds, a spa and a range of restaurants overlooking the sea.
When you wish to do a spot of shopping or sightseeing, you may like to visit a larger city and Galle, the province’s capital, is just 12km away. The main attraction of Galle is the old town, which is enclosed by a 16th-century fortress known as the Galle Fort. This UNESCO World Heritage Site was founded by Portuguese colonisers and then fortified by Dutch settlers. Inside the thick walls of the fortress, you can find boutiques, historic churches, centuries-old prisons and an impressive lighthouse dotted around the cobbled streets. There is also a newer part of town with abundant galleries, museums, shops and restaurants. From Galle, it is also possible to go out on a range of boat trips, including whale-watching tours, canoe safaris and snorkelling trips.
If you are holidaying in Sri Lanka, it would be a shame to miss out on a trip to a tea plantation. The island is renowned for its tea growing, and these vast plantations are steeped in history. One of the finest estates is Handunugoda Tea Estate, only 20km from the villa. Here, you can take a guided tour and learn more about the history and production of the tea. The estate grows 25 tea varieties, including the famous Virgin White Tea. If this interests you, it is also possible to book a full-day tour and tastings at several tea plantations.

Best Suited For: All AgesSri Lanka is a stunning island in the Indian Ocean which offers lush jungles, white sand beaches and historic towns that you can discover together as a family. As the island is a year-round destination, it is ideal for those travelling with kids.
One of the best things to do with children in Sri Lanka is to head out on a safari. Udawalawe National Park is a great place to visit because of the vast array of animals and the mountain scenery. The park is a 105km drive away but is worth the trip as you can see Asian elephants, crocodiles, exotic birds, deer, wild boar and buffalo here. Closer to the villa, you can take the kids out for a ride in a tuk-tuk or try out some water sports on the local beaches.
