Built in 1863, this monument is seen as an integral part of the region’s culture as it is used to guide small boats away from the jagged rocks at the bottom of the lighthouse. Guests are encouraged to drive up the 210-metre peak and explore the scenery as they travel through. Formentor Lighthouse is also a key figure in the literary world, becoming a key piece of inspiration for writers such as Jose Hierro and Carlos Fuentes.
