Located just a ten-minute walk to Playa América, an impressive sweep of golden beach, this villa provides a convenient location. Wander along the shoreline to discover the local shop, fishmonger, restaurants and cafes that nestle amongst the traditional seafront homes that line the promenade. Continue to the end of the beach to reach the delightful fishing port of Panxon, or drive just a few minutes in the other direction to sample the many culinary delights of chic Baiona.

In Baiona, you will find peace and quiet, as well as an urban environment. This is the ideal destination if you are looking for a lively atmosphere on a summer night; guests can enjoy a drink at one of the many charming terrace cafés by the sea and many popular nightspots. Delicious gastronomy is at the heart of this beautiful town, with fresh fish and seafood caught daily. Baiona is also known as Villa de la Arribada (Port of Entry), as it was the first town in Europe to learn of the discovery of America.

There are a range of watersports activities on offer in Baiona, like snorkelling, diving and jet skiing. Numerous boating trips are also a fantastic option, where guests can visit the surrounding bays, including the stunning Cíes Islands, which are easily reachable by boat and contain stunning beaches. One of these beaches was once dubbed the 'best beach in the world' by The Guardian!

To the south, the Rías Baixas region offers you spectacular locations, including Oia Monastery, built atop the rocks by the sea, forever gazing out at the horizon and splashed by salt water. The fishing village of A Guarda is only a few kilometres away. It is crowned by the Celtic fortified settlement of Santa Tecla, from which you can get a view of the spectacular mouth of the Miño River, where Galicia and Portugal meet. And if you have got this far, you might even feel like heading south to Portugal's Costa Verde region, where the beaches are endless, and pine woods embrace the sea.

About the Region & Getting There

About Galicia

Like many parts of Spain, Galicia has its very own identity that has remained intact through its regional dialect and distinguishing culture. Although Galicia is recognised for its holy traditions, we urge budding tourists to also consider its astonishing green countryside & rivers and its UNESCO World Heritage sites. Occasionally you may even hear the gentle tootling of bagpipes, known locally as the Galician Gaita, along this northern corner of the Iberian Peninsula.

You're likely to fly into Santiago de Compostela, which is the capital of Galicia and is probably best known for the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage and its route. Many of the travellers embark on this journey by foot and tend to be mesmerised by this fine city at the end of their trek. Casco Viejo, or the Old Town, is a good place to end or even start your holiday. This area of the city is blessed with markets, restaurants, bars and buildings from a bygone era. After exhausting yourself in the busyness of the city, take a day trip to Praia de Rodas, on the gorgeous Cíes Islands. These small islands, accessible by boat from Vigo, Baiona, or Cangas, have been noted as having some of the best beaches in the world. It has to be seen to be believed!

Galicia is divided into four key regions: A Coruña, Lugo, Ourense and our favourite – Pontevedra. A Galician proverb states that 'Pontevedra gives water to travellers'. We firmly believe this to be true, as this particular part of Galicia has everything a traveller could need for an unforgettable experience and it almost feels like this city is constantly giving back. Whilst you holiday in Pontevedra you will realise that days are structured around mealtime. And why wouldn't they be? With some of the best seafood you will experience in Spain and the noteworthy Albariño wine, you may notice your jeans feeling a little tighter toward the end of your holiday. You will be glad to know that your waistline need not be a cause for concern though! Pontevedra is blessed with some of the best hiking trails, medieval monasteries, estuaries, and valleys within Spain. Don't forget about the coastline either! Rarely you will you find so many empty beaches, so make the most of this privacy and just embrace the nature around you.

Galicia is still an unspoilt part of the world. It has everything a diverse group of friends & family need to have a glorious adventure.

Getting There

Galicia is served by either Santiago de Compostela Airport, A Coruña Airport, or Vigo Airport. Various train lines connect the main cities and towns of Galicia to other destinations in Northern and Central Spain. Hop on and enjoy the view from your comfy seat; there's even a Galician Tourist Train pass! This discounted rail pass gives you access to various rail routes created by the Galician Regional Government and based on key elements of the region. Follow the Lighthouse Route along the northern coastline and stop to admire the lighthouses and gorgeous sea views, or hop on and follow one of the Ribeira Sacra Wine Routes to visit the lovely towns and wineries where acclaimed Galician wines are made and enjoyed. Check out the government website to grab your pass and plan your trip!

From the UK:
Direct flights are available from London with easyJet, Ryanair, Vueling, and many others. Although, travellers should be aware that Vigo Airport only receives domestic flights, so a stopover is needed if you wish to travel to this airport. Chartered flights are also available from several other UK airports.

Kids

Best Suited For: All Ages
Ideal for Kids Ideal for Teens

If you're planning a family holiday, Casa Berdillo is ideal. The private pool, spacious gardens and fantastic facilities will entertain children for hours, and the pool is also fenced, giving parents peace of mind and making it that extra bit safer for kids.

Guests can amble over to Playa América beach and enjoy a drink at one of the many terrace cafés by the sea. The livelier town of Baiona also offers plenty of activities for children. Kids will love snorkelling in the sparkling sea or playing in the golden sand.

There are a range of water sports activities on offer in Baiona; diving, waterskiing and jet skiing are all available here. Numerous boating trips are also a fantastic option, where guests can visit the surrounding bays, including the stunning Cíes Islands, easily reachable by boat.

The Baiona Royal Yacht Club is located inside the walled area of the town, offering the opportunity for sailing or nautical tourism. You won't want to leave Baiona without walking the Monte do Boi path and the Serra da Groba mountains, without seeing the sunset from Cape Silleiro or without visiting the Virgen da Roca viewpoint.

  • Perfect for families

    on 31/07/2022

We have spent ten days enjoying Galicia. The villa is much better in person than in the photos, it's perfect for families, and the kids have enjoyed it greatly. The owner was very attentive and answered all of our questions. We will definitely return!

Pure luxury! I couldn't recommend it more!

  • Great views of Baiona Bay

    on 24/08/2018

The villa is a lovely and charming old house, recently completely renovated with huge social rooms, nice furniture, great view over the bay of Baiona. Nice terrace and nice gated pool which is excellent for kids so.

  • Strongly recommended dream in Galicia

    on 15/07/2017

This is a great property for a group of 8 or so. We stayed there last year when the property was new to the market and it has improved over the year with a new layout around the pool area. The interior remains spectacular, as do the views of thesunset over the bay.

  • Stylish

    on 06/07/2017

Great location with commanding views of the sea and a secluded pool. The house is the real star though with generous and stylish living space for a large (8 or 10 with children) family reunion / holiday.

  • We'll be back to Galicia next year

    on 31/08/2016

Where do I start? We had an amazing holiday. The villa was exactly as it was shown in the photos, incredibly beautiful and stylish, with amazing views, in a fantastic location. We could walk to thesupermarket in 5 minutes and to Praia America in ten minutes. Baiona was a few minutes drive, where we enjoyed amazing tapas and fish restaurants. The pool was incredibly clean (newly built) and fenced for child safety. When we arrived at the villa, we were met on arrival as we drove in by a Spanish lady who was available to us throughout our holiday, to answer any questions we had. Patricia also organised a Spanish lady to come and cook for our family a few evenings, and she was amazing! Lovely Spanish food, plenty of it, and my daughter really enjoyed cooking with her. Patricia also organised other events, such as scuba diving, surfing, and she organised and joined us for a day trip to the Cies Islands, which was the highlight of our holiday, so incredibly beautiful. Patricia chased the children as we climbed to see the views and lighthouse, told us about the history and facts we'd never have know if we went alone, and took us to a nice restaurant for lunch. Patricia made our holiday easy, organised and relaxing.
