The exterior of this property is utterly immaculate, surrounded by olive groves and a vineyard, and the interior spaces include a considerable swimming pool in the centre of the property. As such, guests can cool off after a long day of exploring the local sights whenever they please. This villa is also home to various outdoor seating and dining areas, allowing guests to marvel at the incredibly built property and enjoy the peacefulness of the Andalusian countryside. What's more, make sure to enjoy a bottle of the Amorous Goat wine, made from the villa's own grapes surrounding the property!

Inside, this property continues to delight, presenting a wide variety of traditional decors and furnishings for guests to enjoy. The impressive living room hosts a series of exposed wooden ceiling beams that perfectly complement the tiled floor that spans this entire space. As such, guests are free to relax on the white sofas and reminisce about their favourite parts of the day. The dining area also adheres to a dark and pastoral theme. This space makes good use of a dark and solid wooden table as well as a selection of matching chairs. In turn, guests can use this area to enjoy a collection of amazing and communal meal times. The kitchen within this property is nothing short of perfection, presenting a unique breakfast bar and a plethora of high-end appliances. Therefore, guests are free to prepare and serve an assortment of delicious meals whenever they like, and they can either enjoy them at the kitchen dining table or in the separate dining room with its impressive wooden table. Also, guests will find the office on this floor, with space to do a bit of work and a sofa to lounge on and watch some TV.

Travelling upstairs, this is where you'll discover the four gorgeous bedrooms. All of these rooms also contain double beds, meaning that guests are guaranteed to maintain a restful night's sleep throughout their stay on this outstanding property. In addition, all of these rooms also provide access to their own en-suite bathrooms. The main bedroom upstairs also contains a larger double bed, a bathtub, a Juliet balcony looking outwards and an inner balcony looking over the living room downstairs. Also available to guests is a separate casita that includes a double bed, bathroom, and kitchen/living room, which is perfect for those guests who want a bit more privacy from the rest of the group.

Malaga is a highly sought-after destination that has managed to attract a wealth of avid and experienced travellers. If you are looking to discover one of the most iconic landmarks within this region, a trip to Alcazaba of Malaga is a must-do activity. This looming fortress began construction in the 8th century and continued to build up until the 11th century. As such, this monument was home to Moorish royalty as well as a variety of Catholic Monarchs such as King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella. Guests are encouraged to explore the complexities of the grounds, including the wide assortment of vines and citrus trees. This site also offers incredible views of the entire region, providing guests with a selection of panoramic experiences. Whilst there, make sure to wander around Malaga's beautiful streets, check out the Atarazanas market, and sample some of the amazing food at the many restaurants. Malaga is roughly a 45-minute drive away from the villa, but the drive is worth it due to the stunning scenery.

Another popular attraction within this area is the tremendous Roman Theatre, which is located just over 5 minutes away from the Alcazaba. This theatre is the oldest monument in the entirety of Malaga and was built in the 1st century by the notorious Caesar Augustus, who is regarded as the first Roman Emperor. Despite its far-reaching history, this landmark was not discovered until 1951, when it was excavated during a community landscape project. Nowadays, it is an extremely attractive tourist destination that allows guests to discover more about how these ancient civilisations enjoyed themselves under Roman rule. It should be mentioned that the Roman Theatre is free to enter for all guests and is closed on Mondays.

The Cortijo is in an absolutely perfect location for those who want to experience the outdoors and see more of this fantastic part of Spain. Located between the villa and Malaga, near the historical town of Antequera, is El Torcal de Antequera, a natural parkland that is full of nature and walking trails. Designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, visitors can freely explore the reserve or book a guided tour where they can learn more about the region and its formation. Also nearby is the Caminito del Rey, a unique aerial pathway alongside the walls of the gorge, perfect for those daredevils! If you need any advice for local activities when booking a stay here, make sure to ask the owners as they know the area well and can give you loads of advice.

Owner Profile

How long have you owned the property?
I have owned it for 20 years, but initially as a working vineyard only. The property has been built over this period, using the most modern and ecological methods but utilising ancient reclaimed materials on the facia and inside, to seamlessly replicate a cortijo from the 18th century.

What is it about the property that you first fell in love with?

It is widely said that location is everything. I was driven to purchase the land, not just because it is a famous area for wine production, but also because of the incredible 360o views across rolling hills and the Sierra de Malaga mountain range, its proximity to World Heritage Sites, the lake district of Andalusia and  all within 40 minutes of the Costa del Sol beaches, Malaga and the airport.

Do you have a favourite room in the property?
It is a close run competition between the master bedroom and the lounge. The master bedroom boasts size, vaulted and beamed ceilings and an incredible view across Antequera and the mountain ranges. The lounge is a wonderful space and we have never had anybody at the property who hasn’t exclaimed "Wow" when they have entered this room. With 9 metre ceilings, church windows and exit onto the internal patios and swimming pool, this is probably my favourite space.

For anybody coming to stay is there anything in the surrounding area they should…

Really do?
There are abundant opportunities for things to do. As well as exploring the sites, you can take a wine tour, play 18 holes of golf, go horse riding in the countryside, wonderful walks and hikes, especially at the El Torcal or National parks at Ardales, climbing lessons at El Chorro, cycle tours of the La Vuelta stages around Antequera, hot air ballooning, yoga and spa retreats and Andalusian cookery classes.

Really eat?
You are situated in the very heart of Andalusia, the home of chorizo, tortilla, Jamon Iberico, tapas and exquisite local culinary delights. My personal favourite restaurants are Cozina de Tapas and Bodegas Triana in Antequera, San Benito in Alameda and El Mirador in Caminito del Rey.

Really see?
As you are situated in the heart of Andalusia, you have unique proximity to some of the World’s most incredible sites.

Within 20 minutes from the property you have two world heritage sites in Antequera; El Torcal and the Dolmones, as well as Laguna de la Fuenta de Piadra, an inland salt water lake where huge flocks of flamingo come across May/June. Antequera itself is a beautiful ancient city with Roman and Arabic architecture and with the largest number of churches and cathedrals per capita in the world, it is often referred to as the city of cathradals.

Within 45 minutes, you can visit the incredible gorge walkway of Caminito del Rey, see the famous bridge at Ronda, be in the old town and harbour of Malaga or simply relax on the numerous white sandy beaches.

Around an hour away, you could visit Granada and the jaw dropping Al Hambra palace, or our favourite, the Mezquita at Cordoba, and just a little further, the stunning city of Sevilla.

These are all easily accessible by car, but as Antequera is centred in Andalusia, it has direct rail connections to Malaga, Granada, Cordoba, Ronda and Sevilla.

What insider tip would you pass on about the property or area?

My strongest tip to guests would be to organise and book trips well in advance. Most sites have limited capacity and booking early will avoid disappointment. We would also recommend avoiding trips to Cordoba and Sevilla in July/August, as temperatures there are uncomfortable to go exploring at the pinnacle of summer.
