Designed with comfort, nourishment and slow living in mind, the contemporary four-bedroom property was sustainably constructed in 2022, with a unique location amidst the ruins of the ancient village of Sredgora in Kočevje. Natural materials such as locally sourced stone and wood from the surrounding oak forests give the villa its harmonious feel, while a range of modern facilities including a Finnish sauna and an outdoor jacuzzi provide guests with plenty of contemporary comfort. With beautiful hiking and biking trails on your doorstep, Villa Taja is the ideal place to step back into nature with your loved ones whilst enjoying an unforgettable holiday experience in the Slovenian countryside.

Begin each morning in the villa’s sunny courtyard, where you can sip a freshly brewed cup of coffee as you breathe in the forest air and admire the greenery of the herb and vegetable garden. Spend the rest of the day hiking in the peaceful forest or relaxing in the expansive garden in the warm sunshine. The villa offers plenty of space for family fun and games. When evening comes, you can enjoy a sunset dip in the outdoor jacuzzi, where you will feel the day’s adventures melt away in the soothing waters. Villa Taja’s terrace features a well-appointed summer kitchen with barbecue facilities, ideal for family gatherings during the warmer months. Later on, everyone can come together to relax by the warm glow of the outdoor firepit as the stars begin to appear.

Inside Villa Taja, guests will find a welcoming open-plan living space, featuring a cosy lounge area with comfortable sofas, a home library, a stove and idyllic forest views. Adjacent to the lounge area is a charming dining area, where everyone can enjoy a delicious home-cooked meal whilst discussing the day’s adventures. The villa’s spacious contemporary kitchen offers custom-made furniture and a range of modern appliances, with a selection of excellent local wines and products from local food producers also available on site. Suspended above the lounge area, there is a quirky hammock-style net on the first floor, providing you with the perfect place to relax with a good book or enjoy a quiet family moment.

The villa features four double bedrooms, each offering a restful ambience and relaxed, understated décor that perfectly encapsulates the effortless natural beauty of the surrounding area. Two modern bathrooms with walk-in showers are also available at Villa Taja. After a day spent hiking in the woodlands or cycling in the countryside, a visit to the villa’s private Finnish sauna is a great way to unwind before dinner. The lower part of the villa is a service space used by Mojca, the host of Villa Taja, who is happy to bake fresh bread and prepare delicious meals using fresh local produce for guests to enjoy.

Reviews

  • Loved it!

    on 08/06/2023

We spent a weekend at Villa Taja and absolutely loved it. The house was spotless, all the furniture is handmade and chill areas are so comfy (the hanging net). Also Mojca (the host) made us the best breakfast and we even saw two deers in the morning.
We will come back for sure!

  • Quiet escape to nature!

    on 08/06/2023

The house and surroundings were amazing, and very tidy. It was like staying in a fairytale, with nothing but peace and beautiful nature around us. We rented ebikes and went around the suggested tours which were amazing, and we even got to see some of local wild life! The whole experience was amazing and I would suggest it to anyone looking for a quiet escape to nature!

  • Priceless view

    on 23/05/2023

Beautiful house, jacuzzi, sauna, good location, starting point. House in the middle of nature. Peace.
When asked if you have a TV, the friendly owner answers: we have windows. Priceless view

  • Nicely decorated

    on 24/04/2023

A very nicely decorated villa for private parties in the middle of unspoilt nature.

  • Pleasant atmosphere

    on 19/02/2023

Pleasant atmosphere, very friendly hosts. I was most impressed by the old wood stove, brick, on which you can sleep and enjoy the warmth.

  • What a shame we only stayed one night.

    on 24/01/2023

The house was great, we immediately felt at home; the sauna was fantastic, we wanted to try the pool but unfortunately it was too cold. The rooms are nice and bright, the beds are very comfortable and the network is fantastic. We had fun going up and joking.
The only thing is that the road is long and a bit bad to get to the house (we went with two BMWs, one more car is better), but it's really worth it, what a shame we only stayed one night.
Moja, her husband and daughter were very kind and pleasant and welcomed us with a big smile. Thank you again for this beautiful experience.

  • The insides have almost 360 views of the forest.

    on 08/09/2022

The host was so thoughtful, she received us with some local food and wine and showed us around. The house is beautiful and clean and the insides have almost 360 views of the forest. Will definitely come again!

  • Really beautiful and clean

    on 09/08/2022

Since we booked for 5 days, the host prepared the most delicious traditional dinner free of charge. The house is really beautiful and clean. There are many hiking trails in the area and I can’t wait to come back in the winter when the sauna and jacuzzi are ready !!
