Overview
Step into a world of rustic elegance with Chalet Sol, a breath-taking French ski chalet that perfectly blends traditional Alpine style with modern sophistication and convenience. While staying at Chalet Sol, you can be assured of total peace and quiet as the chalet is located on a prestigious gated estate that can only be accessed by residents. The care and mastery offered by the Chalet Sol team has allowed them to elevate this breath-taking four-bedroom chalet well beyond your typical Alpine chalet escape.
Split over three floors, there is ample room for you and your guests to make yourself at home and enjoy your time in Val d'Isère in style. At ground level, your main living space is a comfortable combination kitchen and lounge separated by a small set of steps. The living room has comfortable sofas that wrap around the wall of the room to point toward a blazing log fire and a flat-screen TV. Access to a charming outdoor terrace is provided through large patio doors behind the seating area. To the rear of the dining space, a fully-equipped kitchen is available for you to use whenever you like. Whether whipping up an energising breakfast before hitting the slopes or enjoying casual bites around the dining table, you’ll have what you need. And if you don’t, the Chalet Sol team can likely acquire it for you.
Four good-sized bedrooms are spread across the upper levels three of which contain double beds and TVs while the final bedroom is ideal for children with four traditional built-in cabin-style bunk beds. All rooms except the bunk room have a private en-suite bathroom, while the bunk room has access to a separate shared bathroom. Each room is dressed uniquely, with soft comforting colours helping you to relax and unwind at bedtime. While at Chalet Sol, luxury is never far away with an in-home Scandinavian sauna and Turkish Hammam promising a wonderful way to relax after a long day on the mountain. During your stay, you’ll have the support of several staff to ensure your holiday goes off without a hitch. The dedicated chalet manager and chalet team will work tirelessly behind the scenes before you even arrive - arranging for and collecting lift passes for your group prior to your arrival while also making sure any additional requests are catered to where possible. In fact, your chalet manager will even do your grocery shopping in advance of your arrival if you let them know what to get.

The Resort
Val d’Isere is the oldest of the French ski resorts and a gleaming icon at the end of the valley where the residential town lies. Surrounded by what is arguably some of the most beautiful mountain landscape in the world, the chalet village is centred around a charming baroque church. It’s a lovely place for wandering, taking in the cosy atmosphere and spending quality time with your favourite people.
Val d’Isere is composed of three skiing sections. These are La Daille, Val d’Isere centre and Le Fornet, all of which are linked by a free shuttle service. Alongside Tignes, the resort is part of a wider ski area known as Espace Killy, and a lift pass will get you access to its entirety. Ski season in both resorts stretches as long as May.
Thanks to its high altitude, Val d’Isere is probably your most snow sure option for skiing in the French Alps. The village rests at 1850 metres and its peak on top of the La Grande Motte glacier is 3456 metres high. Sixty per cent of the resort’s pistes are set above 2200 metres, meaning that the skiing is consistently good but on rare occasions, bad weather can cause the slopes to close. It’s also important to keep in mind that Val d’Isere isn’t the best choice if you’re just finding your feet on the snow, and beginners may well find themselves challenged. On the flipside, Val d’Isere is one of the top choices for experienced skiers and snowboarders, with plenty of challenging black runs (such as the iconic Face the Bellevarde, where the 1992 Olympic men’s downhill was run).
And to go with some of the most exciting and picturesque skiing in France, down in the village you’ll find some amazing bars and restaurants. What better way to celebrate conquering that tricky black run than by indulging in some equally entertaining après-ski? On the mountain itself, you can start your evening with DJ’s and live music at La Folie Douce until the lifts close and then work your way into town.
Kids
Best Suited For: All AgesWhether big or little, kids can always find something to love during a visit to Val d'Isère. At home base, there’s lots to keep kids entertained between activities, like TVs in all bedrooms to help them wind down and relax.
At the heart of the home, a large flat-screen TV is perfect for group entertainment with a DVD player and Sky TV letting you choose from a fantastic selection of TV and movies. For personal entertainment, kids can connect their devices to the chalet’s wireless internet. Once connected, they can keep in touch with friends and family back home, play video games and stream their favourite media from the comfort of their new home-away-from-home.
Beyond Chalet Sol, kids can make their own fun down in the heart of Val d'Isère with lots of kid-friendly activities on offer. Each year, the heart of the village is transformed into a huge open-air skating rink where kids can show off their stuff.
For a change of pace, a wonderful indoor sports centre offers lots of activities that kids can try their hands at. At the sports centre, kids can have fun at the pool with dedicated family sessions throughout the week or try their hand at rock climbing using the indoor climbing wall.
