Gorgeous Chalet Lune has been designed to receive the perfect balance of rustic charm and elegance without having to sacrifice your modern luxuries and comforts. Filled with large spaces dressed in simple but tasteful decor, Chalet Lune is a beautiful traditional chalet with stunning exposed wood and baked clay features. From your windows, you’ll enjoy stunning views of pine woods and Alpine vistas.

Your main living room features comfortable chic furnishings gathered around a roaring fire while additional comfy armchairs point towards the huge windows overlooking Val d'Isère below. A secondary lounge is located to the rear of the dining area, creating a lovely vibrant social space focused on good food and good company.

Your five bedrooms have been styled individually, giving each room a unique character, while retaining the charm and feel of a traditional lodge break. Each room has a flat-screen TV for relaxing and unwinding as well as access to a private en-suite bathroom.

To truly relax and shake off the aches of a hard day’s skiing, Chalet Lune also features a modern Scandinavian-style sauna and a Turkish Hammam. For wine lovers, Chalet Lune has a well-stocked wine cellar filled with a fantastic selection of French wines and champagnes for your enjoyment.

Inside, Chalet Lune has been designed to give you a truly luxurious ski escape this winter. Before you arrive, your chalet manager will arrange for the set-up of your ski passes as well as booking ski lessons for any beginners or experienced skiers looking to improve their skills. Your chalet manager will also arrange any airport transfers you require and for your grocery shopping to be done in advance of your arrival if you let them know prior to your arrival. Alongside the chalet manager, you’ll also have a dedicated host who is on hand to support you throughout your stay.

The Resort

Val d’Isere is the oldest of the French ski resorts and a gleaming icon at the end of the valley where the residential town lies. Surrounded by what is arguably some of the most beautiful mountain landscape in the world, the chalet village is centred around a charming baroque church. It’s a lovely place for wandering, taking in the cosy atmosphere and spending quality time with your favourite people.

Val d’Isere is composed of three skiing sections. These are La Daille, Val d’Isere centre and Le Fornet, all of which are linked by a free shuttle service. Alongside Tignes, the resort is part of a wider ski area known as Espace Killy, and a lift pass will get you access to its entirety. Ski season in both resorts stretches as long as May.

Thanks to its high altitude, Val d’Isere is probably your most snow sure option for skiing in the French Alps. The village rests at 1850 metres and its peak on top of the La Grande Motte glacier is 3456 metres high. Sixty per cent of the resort’s pistes are set above 2200 metres, meaning that the skiing is consistently good but on rare occasions, bad weather can cause the slopes to close. It’s also important to keep in mind that Val d’Isere isn’t the best choice if you’re just finding your feet on the snow, and beginners may well find themselves challenged. On the flipside, Val d’Isere is one of the top choices for experienced skiers and snowboarders, with plenty of challenging black runs (such as the iconic Face the Bellevarde, where the 1992 Olympic men’s downhill was run).

And to go with some of the most exciting and picturesque skiing in France, down in the village you’ll find some amazing bars and restaurants. What better way to celebrate conquering that tricky black run than by indulging in some equally entertaining après-ski? On the mountain itself, you can start your evening with DJ’s and live music at La Folie Douce until the lifts close and then work your way into town.

Kids

Best Suited For: All Ages
Ideal for Kids Ideal for Teens

Although Val d'Isère is popular with advanced skiers, don’t let that put you off visiting with little ones. Val d'Isère has a fantastic piste network that spans several sites along the mountains where you’ll be able to find beautiful laid-back beginner runs for children.

While at Chalet Lune, kids are well-catered for with a fantastic home cinema set up in the chalet’s living room. Kids can watch their favourite DVDs, TV or cast their favourite media to the TV using their own devices - perfect for solo watching or family movie nights. And speaking of personal devices, Chalet Lune has fantastic wireless internet throughout, meaning that kids can easily stream media or play games to unwind.

Outside of the chalet, kids can join their families on the mountain if they’re confident skiers. If not, they can join Val d'Isère’s wonderful ski school while you hit the slopes to sharpen their skills. While in ski school, your little snow angels will learn the basics of skiing from trained instructors while also making friends and participating in fun snow-based activities.

For more wintery fun, during the winter months, a charming open-air ice rink is created at the centre of Val d'Isère village, promising heaps of family fun for you and your kids.
