Outdoor Pursuit & Activities
The exclusive, renowned Praia del Rey Golf and Beach Resort is 70km from Lisbon airport. It is home to miles of pristine golden beaches, a world-class golf course and long days of glorious sunshine! The championship golf course is the centrepiece of the resort, but it also has a swimming pool, a Kalyan spa, gym, massage, tennis court, cycle rental, restaurants and a clubhouse that you can use for a fee. It is an oasis of relaxed style and world-class comforts in an unspoiled natural landscape.
Baleal, Nazare and Santa Cruz are 3 of the most popular beaches and are known for their silver-white sand and royal blue waters. Most of the beaches have thrilling surf waves though some sheltered bays are calmer. Nazare has pounding, exhilarating waves and is a surfers paradise. It is also a very picturesque town which holds quite a number of festivals.
Obidos feels like a walk back in time. It is 11km from the villa. It is so charming, surrounded by a city wall, with narrow, cobbled paths, a well-preserved castle and cute whitewashed homes. The local Ginjinha de Obidos is a sour brandy tipple drunk from a small chocolate cup. You should try it when you visit!
Calda da Rainha is a spa town founded by a queen! In the 15th century, Eleanor of Viseu discovered locals bathing in strange-smelling springs and founded Europe’s first hydrotherapy resort since the Roman times. The original spa is now restored as a museum. The graceful Parque Dom Carlos I is good for a visit. The town has a reputation for ceramics so you should visit the dreamy Museu de Ceramica. It is on a romantic 19th century estate. There is also an interesting cycling museum.

ABOUT THE SILVER COAST
The Silver Coast in Portugal, or Costa de Prata, is a stunning stretch of coastal towns on the western side of Portugal, neighbouring the Atlantic Ocean. The region remains largely unknown and therefore untouched by tourism, meaning those who do visit can bask in the extraordinary “silver” sand.
Another of the many reasons to love the Silver Coast in Portugal is its proximity to Portugal’s major cities. With Lisbon to the south and Porto to the north, the Silver Coast is well situated in between both of Portugal’s largest urban centres. At the same time, it is inexpensive, authentic, and relatively undiscovered.
The Silver Coast is home to some of the best beaches you’ll ever see in Portugal. Since it’s away from the main crowd of the country, the beaches here are wilder and more pristine. Also, being popular for fishing is a great place to try local cuisine and experience the culture.
The cuisine from the Silver Coast in Portugal is some of the finest that Europe has to offer and forms an integral part of the region’s culture. The area has a rich heritage, and tourists love the narrow, picturesque streets of the towns and villages that dot the countryside. The regional agriculture also adds an authentic touch, with numerous small farms, vineyards, windmills as well as fruit trees. Many local farmers grow soft fruits such as grapes, melons, pumpkins, and maize.
