This enchanting city is north of Porto and close to the border with Spain’s Galicia. It is blessed with an appealing medieval centre, an attractive riverfront and gorgeous beaches. Its old quarter showcases narrow lanes and leafy boulevards brimming with Manueline manors and Rococo palaces. Guests staying at Villa Queimosa enjoy fabulous days on the beach, trips to beautiful towns and cities, river adventures of the Rio Lima estuary and countryside jaunts in the lower Lima valley.

Villa Queimosa is a swanky, contemporary villa with extraordinary outdoor space and beautiful interior design. It boasts an incredible swimming pool with a pool jacuzzi and a waterfall, so beautiful that you may feel inclined to just stay put at the villa. The villa is located on a super quiet street with lovely views all around. It is built over two floors with three bedrooms on the upper floor and fantastic living space below. The villa is the epitome of indoor outdoor living with an astonishing lounge and dining room with two full walls of glass that can be opened for alfresco dining and lounging. The space is drowned with natural light and guests can take just a few steps to plunge into the inviting pool or to sit with cocktails by the sunken firepit. The main living room is another totally gorgeous space with exquisite furnishings in co-ordinating colours and two sets of doors to the terrace and garden. The dining room is smart and sophisticated with more traditional furnishings and an air of grandeur. The kitchen is a striking wonder, all in black and with the very best of appliances. The chef in your group will be delighted.

The villa’s three bedrooms exude elegance and enjoy minimalist styling, two all in white and the other with sultry grey tones. They are gorgeous spaces where you will enjoy the sleep of kings on ultra comfy sumptuous beds. The villa boasts two exceptional bathrooms with the best fittings and stylish tiling. The villa is built on a very generous plot with beautiful lush planting and greenery all around. The planting enjoys architectural styling with towering trees surrounding the villa and others strategically placed to look simply beautiful. The sensational swimming pool enjoys a jacuzzi and waterfall and is surrounded by lush lawns and beautiful outdoor furniture. There are plenty of luxury sun loungers together with a double day bed, a stylish chair and a hammock. It is very easy to find a quiet spot in the garden surrounded by greenery to read your holiday book. The sunken firepit is a fabulously sociable spot for evening drinks while the sun goes down.

Location

Villa Queimosa enjoys a lovely spot in the peaceful village of Chafe, very close to the mesmerising Viana do Castelo. The pearly white, neo-Byzantine Santa Luzia Church presides over the city, sitting high on the hilltop. Viana do Castelo’s compact historic centre boasts extravagant religious buildings, delightful cafes, elegant plazas and narrow shopping streets which open onto the banks of the Rio Lima.

Villa Queimosa enjoys a region of outstanding natural beauty with wild beaches, lush forested hills and slow flowing rivers. It is a farming region where the famous ‘vinho verde’ is produced. Ponte de Lima is one of the most characterful and picturesque towns of Northern Portugal, on the southern banks of the Lima River. The location has been the main river crossing since the Romans constructed a bridge in 1AD. There is a delightful mix of ancient houses, grand religious buildings and pretty plazas. There are a number of interesting museums as well as colourful flower gardens and stunning natural scenery all around. The Ponte do Lima is an excellent centre for adventure activities such as the Ecovia cycling route, kayaking along the Lima River, mountain biking or hiking in the Serra D’Arga or birdwatching in the Lagoas de Bertiandos. You can river bathe in Labruja.

When staying at the villa, you shouldn’t miss a trip to Braga. Braga is regarded as one the main religious centres of Portugal, with the oldest cathedral and many Gothic churches. Every hour you will hear a cocophony of different church bells ringing out! It is the third largest city of Portugal and is a joy to explore. Braga is an enthralling university city and the setting for Bom Jesus do Monte, a fine monument. The historic centre is fully pedestrianised. There are pretty city gardens, charming plazas and busy shopping streets.

If you decide to take a trip into Galicia being that you are so close, then Tui is an absolute delight. It boasts a beautiful historic centre and an excellent range of gourmet dining as well as excellent shops. Tui is located south of the Pontevedra province and sits on the edge of the Minho River, opposite the Portuguese town of Valenca. The towns are connected by a nineteenth century bridge. Valenca do Minho is located on the hillside overlooking the left bank of the Minho and on the main road that links the Spanish Santiago de Compostela with Porto. Tourists flock to the town to buy embroidered tablecloths and sheets, the speciality of the town.
